Nelson opened his mouth to speak buthesitated. In the end, he said nothing and silently left the room.
Night fell. Darkness enveloped the entire city. One car after another passed by.
Inside the car, Alex held Claire in his arms, silent and solemn.
"Dad, Mom," Leander weakly called out.
"Hmm?" Alex was taken aback.
Leander slowly opened his dark eyes and looked at Alex, asking, "Where are we going?"
"To find Grandma," Alex answered.
Claire looked confused after hearing Alex's explanation. Isn't it dangerous to go to the Miller family at this time?
Alex noticed Claire's unease, gently stroked Leander's forehead, and smiled tenderly. "Don't worry, Leander, you'll be safe with me here."
"Really?" Leander blinked his big black eyes.
Alex nodded. "Thank you, Dad."
"Silly child, what are you thanking me for?" Alex indulgently glanced at Leander and continued driving toward the old Miller family mansion in the suburbs.
