Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: AFTER EVOLUTION (PART ONE)

After a full day of sleeping and waking up without awareness of the world, he finally regained full consciousness and could feel his body. His body was full of strength.

"Just like that, a month has passed," he thought, especially since spending a week undergoing evolution still gave him creeps till now.

"Can you finally tell me what led you to this condition?" Lucy asked him.

"It all started a week and some days ago; my body was giving out weird symptoms, but I ignored it. I decided to take a bath last week, and before I knew it, I felt intense pain hit me. Without knowing how much time passed, I finally lost consciousness," he said, reciting a set of information he had prepared beforehand.

"From what I can see, either of your parents must have been from an ancient royal mage bloodline, and you must have just undergone an awakening of bloodline. I have limited information, but you should be able to find more in the academy," She said.

"Hmm," he nodded his head.

"Do you feel strange?" She asked.

"No, I feel full of strength," he answered.

"We have to test your physical condition," She said.

Minutes later, Jeff drove him and Lucy out of the compound. Lucy wanted to sack Jeff, but he told her that he was the one who told the latter not to disturb him if there's nothing important. The latter was spared.

The car soon arrived at the mage association, and they entered. They went straight to the training room, where he saw a set of equipment. They arrived in front of an equipment with a plate in front of it.

"Punch it," Lucy said.

He threw a casual punch, and "Bang!" A collision sound was heard as it hit the plate. A series of numbers quickly appeared on the panel and soon stabilized. Lucy couldn't help but sweat a little when she saw the number.

"85," it showed. "Just a casual punch from Wallace amounts to eighty-five kg of force." Wallace remembered that back on Earth, before the era of superhumans, the world heavyweight challenge was one hundred and twenty-three kg, and the world one-handed heavyweight challenge was eighty-one kg. This was only a result of his internal energy not being active, as his body had not been able to utilize the internal energy yet.

"Punch with your full force," Lucy said with bright eyes.

He withdrew his right fist and "Bang!" Struck the machine hard. The machine whirred as numbers quickly switched on its panel and finally stopped at "105." It meant a full force from his right fist amounted to one hundred and ten plus force. He withdrew his left fist and

"Bang!" He struck out with his left fist. "91" appeared on the panel. It meant the weight of his body combined was approaching two hundred kg, a terrifying amount of force that even a fully-fledged adult didn't have.

Lucy gulped, even though mages were not known for their strong bodies. Every time they broke through a major rank, a part of the shackles of their body was usually broken, and their strength increased by two times in the minor stage. However, even among rank 20 mages, this amount of force was rare.

"Are you still human?" Lucy couldn't suppress her curiosity as she asked Wallace.

"I'm human," he answered with a wry smile.

"Time for speed test," Lucy said as she walked towards a machine and activated it. Wallace got on the machine and started to run. He continued for a minute until he reached his highest speed before the machine deactivated.

"20.5m/s," Lucy's eyes widened as she looked at Wallace's petite body. This speed meant that he would be able to cover a distance of one hundred meters in ten seconds. She simply nodded her head as she resigned to fate. "Some people are just born monsters."

"Mental energy test," Lucy said.

"Huh?" Wallace was confused.

"This test is scarce because most mages don't have mental energy," Lucy explained.

"They can't break through to rank thirty in their whole life. Spiritual ability is what allows for the coordination of elements, and also, a mental energy of fifty is the minimum requirement to break through to rank 30. With a mental energy of one hundred, telekinesis is possible for those who don't focus on mental energy. Your mental energy should be quite high since you have a mental affinity," she said as she activated a machine and brought out a helmet from it before handing it to him.

He placed the helmet on his head, and his whole world turned black before it brightened again. He looked at Lucy, who was looking at the screen, stupefied. He looked at the screen and saw five hundred and one. One had to know that even though she was close to rank sixty, her mental energy was still short of one thousand, and she does not have any hope of breaking through to one thousand, which means she cannot reach the magus realm in this life, and she is close to forty years. She simply looked at the five hundred and one mental energy on the panel. She just resigned to fate and smiled.

"A mage's mental energy begins to improve the day they activate their mage root, and it's only been a month, but your mental energy has reached 500 plus, coupled with your strange bloodline. You have a minor chance of breaking through to the magus realm," she said as she smiled happily for him with a tinge of jealousy in her voice.

The dream of every mage is to reach rank seventy because it is where the wonders of cultivation start, but how many people can reach it? There are only three human empires in the Midgar planet, and Aslan Empire, which is one of the reigning empires, only has fifteen magus among them. This shows how difficult it is to reach the realm. Talent, bloodline, and luck - the luck part refers to mental energy because mental energy is the natural barrier stopping most people from reaching the magus realm.

There are more than hundred thosand sixty-nine magico realm experts in the whole of Aslan, but only close to five thousand are able to enter the magus realm. Mental energy can only increase slowly on its own with age, and there is no natural treasure that can ever increase mental energy. That's where luck comes in - most of the rank sixty-nine magico, it is not that they are not talented or they don't have superior magico bloodlines, but their mental energy is the one holding them back, not allowing them to break through.

She could not help but be a bit excited at the future prospect of this body who has only awakened a month ago but has a mental energy of five hundred and one. The slightest possibility of him being able to break through to the magus realm surfaced in her mind, but it's only a slight hope. Who knows, he might not be able to reach a mental energy of 1000 before he dies.

Some minutes later, Wallace and Lucy returned to her office.

"Why were you calling me?" he asked her. That's when she remembered that she had an important reason she was calling Wallace before she met him in that condition.

"The president of the blacksmith organization from the main empire is here for you," she said.

"I just want to keep it a secret," he answered.

"There are some connections that will prove useful for you in the future, especially since you will be spending close to ten years in the academy in the main city. Having the president of the blacksmith association there behind you is not so bad - you will be able to do some things and get some resources you cannot get by yourself. Besides, my connection in the main city is very little, so I have very little to assist you with when you get there. Having the president of the blacksmith organization there to support you is not bad," she said.

"Ok, let's fix a meeting for whenever he wants to meet," he answered.

"Ok," she smiled at him as she took out her phone and dialed a number. She talked for some time on the phone before she dropped it.

"I have arranged a meeting for you tomorrow," she answered.

"Go home and use today to acclimatize yourself," she told him.

"Ok," he nodded his head.

"Besides, I felt like telling you this before, but seeing you are in rank nine already, there is no harm in telling you," she said.

"There's something called mana crystal - it's a form of mana that has been crystallized into a solid form. It's a very important form of currency for mages," she told him.

"It can be used to cultivate to make cultivation faster, and also, it's the main form of currency in the mage world you will be exposed to when you reach rank ten," she told him.

"You should start making preparations for when you reach rank ten because dollars are no longer valid for a mage. There are three mana crystals - they are the low-tier mana crystal that is white in color, the high-tier crystal that is light blue in color, and the peak grade mana crystal that is deep blue in color. The low-tier crystal is mainly used by mages between rank ten and rank sixty-nine, so that will be what you should focus on. Ten thousand dollars can be used to exchange for a mana crystal," she told him as she handed him a ring. Hmm
