Chapter 3: Mine
"You're leaving again?" I heard Tyrell ask me. I grinned at him, "Should I say goodbye to you?" I playfully asked.
He let out a sigh as if he already knew my answer. I chuckled, "Come on, grandpa. I'll be back before dawn," I said and turned away from him.
"Grandpa?! You're even older than me!" I laughed and looked at him. "You're acting like one, Grandpa." I winked at him before closing the door.
"Xavier! Don't forget that we're here for that mission. Don't mess around!" I heard him shout from inside the room. I just laughed and shook my head in amusement.
I should hurry up; she might go there now. I missed those pretty green eyes—her soft, wavy brunette hair. I badly want to touch them with my bare hands.
"Xavier! I'm still talking to you!" I walked faster when I heard his voice. He's acting like a woman. Why do I have a Beta like him?
"Xavier!" he shouted again. I looked back, "Stop following me, Tyrell! Go and work!" He shook his head and walked even faster.
"You're the king! You should be the one working here!" I raised an eyebrow. "I'm not a king here. Tone down your voice," I warned him.
He sighed, "I get it. But... Stop acting recklessly. Someone might recognize you, and we'll be in danger in this foreign land," he said.
I shook my head, "Rest assured. I'll be careful. So go away now and let me leave," I commanded him.
"You want to see her again? Come on, she hasn't been there for three months--" I glared at him. I don't care. I don't want to miss the chance to see her there.
"Stop pushing my limit, Tyrell," I warned. He let out a sigh and nodded. "Okay. If you don't see her immediately, come back here," he said. I nodded and smiled.
"Sure," I said and turned my back on him. It's been three months, huh? I wonder what happened and why she hasn't come back yet.
I wore my cloak and went to the night market. I let out a sigh as I walked into the narrow and dark alley. This is the same way she used to pass through before.
"I don't have anything to offer." I immediately looked around when I heard that familiar voice.
I walked towards an alley because that's where I heard the voice now. As I got closer and closer, I realized that a woman was surrounded by armed men.
Who is that girl? Should I rescue her? I stayed where I was, observing what was happening.
"You're funny, young lady. You need to give us all your money if you don't want to get hurt." My brow furrowed. They were threatening the girl.
I was about to intervene, but I stopped when I heard her response. "Alright, take this and leave me alone," she said. She's oddly calm and familiar.
Because of what she did, they started to harass her more. What is she doing in this place? Is she lost? Anyway, this is none of my business.
I'm leaving. She might already be at the bar. "Don't resist, missy. It's better to come along quietly so your fair and smooth skin doesn't get scratched." I immediately stopped walking and looked back again.
What are they planning to do with her? I saw her back away several times. She looked at them calmly with her green eyes...
Wait, green eyes. Brunette hair. That's her. The strange yet intriguing woman I met three months ago. She used to come here every night before. But then suddenly stopped.
I stood up straight and went in front of her, covering her from these dangerous men. Why did I think of not helping her earlier? Any girl in this situation should be helped.
Well, that's not really me. I only help people I want to help. Not everyone in trouble needs help.
It's good to see her again, even if we are in this situation. I wanted to leave quietly with her, but these idiots didn't let us. Very well, I'm not really a patient man.
I can't kill whoever I want to kill. I end up killing them with my bare hands. I looked at her quickly, realizing that she was watching. Damn, did I make a bad impression?
I asked her if she was surprised if she was okay. But she just calmly nodded and thanked me.
I fixed my hood. "Very well, then. I should get going," I said, even though I wanted to stay with her all night. Damn, did I really lose my sanity over an unknown woman? I don't even know her name.
She eyed me as if she was thinking whether to talk to me or not. I hope she will. I started to walk away. Call me... I kept repeating in my mind.
"Hold on!" A smile formed on my lips. That's it. "Yes," I answered, grinning widely.
She started to approach me. She was trying to look at my face, but I hid it. "You saw everything earlier, didn't you?" I stared at her. Her beauty is breathtaking. I nodded and answered, indeed.
She took a deep breath. "What is your name?" she asked.
She should tell me her name first. I want to tell her my name, but I want to play a little. "I'm afraid I can't disclose my name," I answered.
She better ask my name again. But she didn't. I'm a little disappointed, but I remember I was the one who started this. I am the one who chose to play hard to get. I'm such a dumb person.
He nodded at me. She's cold yet sweet before. I didn't expect her to be colder. What happened? Anyway, I should let her go now before she thinks I'm a creep.
After she said okay, I left but just hid in a corner, watching her. She's already attracting attention even though they can't see her whole face.
She entered the old bar she used to go to, so I followed her, but I didn't have the courage to approach her.
I'm not from this foreign land; I should distance myself. But I can't do it. Why do I feel this way? I've only seen her a few times.
I've talked to her three times, but I doubt if she remembers it. I took a deep breath and messed up my hair. I messed it up big time.
I'm crazy about her. I just watch her drink alone. I give a warning to anyone who wants to talk to her. They don't even have the right to look at her.
If I were in my own kingdom, I'd behead everyone who dares to look at her. It's a shame I can't claim someone like her here.
"Let's see how far you can go without me," she murmured while giggling. Hmm. Is she broken? Who dared to break her heart?
I can't stand it. I approached her, "What are you doing here, alone again?" I asked her. But she only looked at me as if she couldn't remember me.
What? I just saved her a while ago. "Am I dreaming?" I heard her whisper. Does she think she's dreaming?
"What a gorgeous man," she added, causing me to look away. She finds me gorgeous? "Oh, what am I saying," she said and chuckled.
"I'm sorry, but do I know you?" I blinked. She seriously doesn't remember me. Do I need to tell her that I'm the guy who saved her earlier?
I sighed and put my hood back on. She stared at me like she was watching the weirdest scene she had ever seen. But after a while, she came to her senses.
"Oh, Mister Stranger. So it's you. What can I do for you?" She even giggled while saying that. She was cold earlier but became sweet again. So this is really her.
I asked her if she had a problem, and she unexpectedly answered that she did. It turns out that she's married, but her husband treats her badly.
I clenched my hand. I shouldn't feel this way. But why am I disappointed? She's a married woman.
I should back out, but why do I want to take her away from her husband? I know this is wrong. Tyrell would be furious if he knew what I was thinking.
"Sounds crazy, right? I asked him for a divorce, but he refused," she said. I eyed her. Did she want to divorce her husband?
That would be great. "Do you really want to escape your marriage that badly?" I asked her. I'm serious. I'm considering taking her away.
I know she wouldn't agree. But if I have a chance, I will take her to my kingdom and give her everything she deserves.
She seemed surprised by what I said. But I'm serious. I'm willing to risk everything for her.
"Oh god, I'm sleepy. I should go now," she said as if she didn't believe what I said. I already expected that. I nodded and escorted her outside.
"Before you go, I want to let you know I will be there when you need me the most." That's a promise. I'll keep my eye on her now that I know her husband is treating her badly.
She smiled, a genuine one. "Thank you." Her voice is sweet, almost like music to my ears.
She tucked her hair behind her ear and smiled sweetly. "I'll leave now. Thank you for helping me again," she said.
I nodded. I watched her walk away. Should I really let her go now? "Wait!" I stopped her.
She halted and looked back, "Why?" I feel like the world has stopped. It feels like we are the only two people standing around.
"Xavier. That's my name. Please don't forget it." She smiled widely, her eyes twinkling like stars in the sky.
"I won't." She answered before leaving completely. I want to know everything about this girl. One wrong move from her husband, and I'll take her away. She'll be mine.
