"There was someone else at the scene as well."
Sidney glanced up from the stack of papers he was reviewing, his eyes narrowing. "What did you just say?"
His assistant shifted nervously but repeated, "I asked around the neighborhood, sir. Wanted to see if anyone had seen or heard anything after the explosion. Turns out, there were two other people on the site before the authorities arrived."
Sidney's pen paused mid-air. "Go on."
"One of them was a man," the assistant continued, "who borrowed a fire extinguisher from one of the neighbors. The other... well, the other was a woman."
"A woman?" Sidney's voice was measured, but there was a glint of curiosity, even suspicion, behind his calm tone. Could it be? Could Serena have been there like they'd expected?
