On their way, the two of them barely spoke. Xu Qingyan was usually not much of a talker. They chatted intermittently, but no one mentioned what happened last night.
The year was about to end, and many things were hard to say and articulate.
Just before getting off the car, Xu Qingyan was originally returning empty-handed. Pei Muchan stopped him and handed him two shopping bags from the back seat, filled with thick new clothes.
"Huh?" He looked puzzled.
"I wandered around the store this afternoon and felt embarrassed not to buy anything." Pei Muchan didn't explain much, the car key still in the ignition, she drove off as if fleeing the scene.
Xu Qingyan glanced at the clothes, thoughtful.

The next day.
"Whoa, new clothes." Gan Wenchang had just arrived at work when he spotted Xu Qingyan from afar, "That coat looks sharp... and expensive, too. What's up, did you find some money?"
