Punk Hazard.
"Ugh!!"
As the legless Aokiji slowly fell, the battle for Fleet Admiral between the two Admirals came to an end.
From Devil Fruit abilities to Haki clashes, from hand-to-hand combat to weapon fights, the two displayed the world's top combat power to the fullest, giving Roman a comprehensive and direct understanding of "experts."
"Kuzan, your 'justice' has failed."
With his right shoulder torn by cold, revealing steel-like muscles, Akainu turned and silently placed the Marine hat on his head.
"I won't kill you, go to the sea..."
"And find your justice."
Battle for Fleet Admiral:
Akainu wins!
"Whoo~~~"
Letting out a long breath, Roman, who had been watching, turned to leave with Garp and others. After all, the new Fleet Admiral had decided to spare Aokiji, so the Marines had no objections.
"Impressive, this—"
Looking at the two pages in his hand, one filled with rolling magma, black and red; the other covered in frost, bone-chilling.
"Well, I'll leave it to Nami to develop."
Developing Devil Fruit abilities requires "compatibility," and Roman's talent for super creations clearly surpasses his affinity for superpowers. His combat still relies mainly on himself, with recorded fruit abilities as support. Becoming an elemental mage in the pirate world isn't realistic.
The title of "Great Mage" should be left to Nami.
——————————
"Hmm~~"
"What are you looking at?"
Nami's face turned red and her body temperature began to rise as Roman carefully examined her from head to toe! Although absence makes the heart grow fonder, it's broad daylight, does Roman want to...
Too wicked!
"Why do I feel like you've gotten a lot stronger?"
However, Roman's words, devoid of any romance, were like a bucket of cold water, making Nami cover her forehead in exasperation.
I'm so foolish, actually...
"Weren't you watching the 'Fleet Admiral battle'? I had nothing to do, so I asked Vice Admiral Tsuru to systematically train my basic abilities."
"Alright, be careful."
The Marines have a few hundred years of tradition, so when it comes to training basics, they're the most systematic and comprehensive force in this world. It's good that Nami can work on her physical weaknesses, but:
"Vice Admiral Tsuru isn't easy to fool. Be careful not to slip up."
"Don't worry,"
Nami confidently made an 'OK' gesture. "I used to be called 'The Little Cat Burglar,' after all. Lying is my specialty."
"I trust you. Here—"
Roman handed Nami two pages, one red and one white, one hot and one cold.
"These are the Magma and Ice pages. With these, a lot of the things we discussed before can actually be done now."
"Awesome~~"
Unlike the other pages Roman forced on her before, this time Nami was delighted.
With both Ice and Magma, she could truly become a woman who commands the weather! With a bit of development, she'd be able to call the wind and rain, and even control the elements.
Although she lacked the raw power of the original Devil Fruit users, combining these abilities offered endless possibilities... Nami hugged *Thieves' Ultimate Skill* and dashed toward the training ground. As for Roman—
Since when is the weather more fun than a man?!
"Uh..."
Watching Nami dash off, Roman lowered his hand in disappointment.
"Well, fine then,"
"I'll go train my Armament Haki with Vice Admiral Garp."
Training was basically just getting beaten up…
——————————
"Commodore Roman, we're approaching Set Town."
On the sea, several warships were circling in frustration because:
"Get lost, you Marine dogs!"
A few small pirate boats were darting back and forth, like jackals taunting a lion. And for now, the Marines were helpless, because on these little boats were:
Women, children, and the elderly.
Innocent civilians, tied to wooden frames on both sides of the boats as "shields." The Marines on the warships were fuming!
"Back off, back off! Or we'll kill these people!"
"No, don't kill them yet. They're hostages! Chop off their hands and feet first—"
"Hahaha~~~"
Facing these true scum, the Marines, despite their powerful ships and cannons, were stuck. Furious, the Marine higher-ups stormed back into the cabins, out of sight, out of mind! But actually—
"Commodore Roman, give the order!"
The captains of several warships had quietly gathered on Roman's ship, and of course, this was because of:
The Door-Door Page.
"Everyone, conceal your presence, especially your Armament Haki!"
Roman, pulling open an invisible door from the air, turned to remind the Marine officers and one of the Commodores, "Armament Haki will greatly increase the energy cost of my ability."
"Understood."
As Marine officers, they naturally knew that most Devil Fruit abilities could be disrupted by Haki. But with so many strong young fighters...
As Nami pressed her hands down towards everyone, they all started to become semi-transparent.
"What is...?"
"This will lower everyone's presence."
Although the "transparent pages" weren't fully developed, half-done still had its advantages. A group of semi-transparent Marine officers quietly moved through the "air channel," crossing the ocean and slipping past roaming pirates. Eventually, they reached a spot behind a room at the edge of Set Town's plaza.
"Ugh, damn pirates."
Another commodore concealed his presence and carefully peeked into the town. Most of the civilians had been gathered in the center of the plaza, with pirates holding knives and guns all around. How could they rescue them?
"Seems we'll have to sacrifice some people,"
This commodore, a hardened soldier, looked at Roman. Both held the highest ranks among them, so the orders would come from the two of them, whether they succeeded or failed.
"Stay calm."
While the other officers started tensing up and Isuka looked uneasy, Roman remained calm and turned to Nami.
"Ensign Ann."
"Yes."
Everyone present was at least an officer, with Nami as the only ensign. Under their scrutinizing eyes, she took out the book from her belt and opened it.
"Ice!"
With Nami pressing her hand on the frozen page, a massive block of ice began to form, sparkling and emitting a frosty chill. Of course, the group didn't flinch, only surprised by Nami's "fruit ability."
"Fire!"
As she flipped to the previous page, thick, dark-red flames spread across the ice, instantly melting it into a cascade of water droplets that, under Nami's control, flowed between her fingers, shimmering.
"Water!"
Then, with a flick of her hand, a veil of water rose over the magma, bubbling and steaming into clouds. Mist billowed around them, and a soft, cotton-like cloud formed over the group, drifting and hovering.
"Mist!"
"Go—"
Under Nami's continued efforts, dense white mist spread rapidly, covering the entire Set Town. Like unfolding wings, it surrounded the plaza and began to close in toward the center.
"Damn, why is it so foggy all of a sudden?"
"What's with this weird weather... haven't those Marines left yet?"
"Something's not right…"
"Quick, quick! Get the torches—"
Pop!
With a soft sound, the "smart one" among the pirates suddenly had a palm-length slash across his throat. And a group of figures, wearing Marine white coats, silently dashed past him.
Their weapons glinted coldly as they swiftly took down one scoundrel after another! Surrounded by thick mist, the pirate crew fell one by one in silent slaughter, unaware until the heavy smell of blood made them realize:
"There's an enemy!!"
"Damn! It's the Marines..."
"Kill the hostages—"
"Ho...hostages...where are they?"
With Nami's mist limiting visibility to just a meter, everyone seemed isolated in the thick fog, feeling as though an enemy could jump out from any direction.
Whoosh—
*Splurt!*
The next moment, the pirates' worst fears came true!
With screams echoing all around, the pirates gripped their weapons tightly, looking around in helpless confusion.
Roman had only brought officers with him because, first, the "Door Pages" couldn't transport too many people at once, and second, most officers had at least some exposure to Observation Haki training. Even if they hadn't fully awakened Observation Haki, they still had some experience with "blind fighting."
As for the pirates:
"Damn it! I'm the mastermind Mo—"
With a cold sensation on his throat, the pirate captain, known for his brutality and tricks and with a bounty of 8,500, fell backward! Roman's Armament and Observation Haki were fully activated, and he cut through the fog to take him down in one strike!
"Even the best schemes are powerless in the face of overwhelming strength."
Roman's Observation Haki scanned the area, "seeing" the Marines swiftly taking down each pirate around the square. Then:
"Ensign Ann! Disperse the fog."
With Roman's command, Nami at the rear activated her ice and fire abilities, causing a strong airflow.
"Wind!"
A gentle yet wide breeze swept through, scattering the fog like clouds parting to reveal the scene below—a ground littered with fallen pirates, Marines standing tall with weapons in hand, and unharmed civilians kneeling in shock.
"…Th-this is…?"
"It's the Marines!!"
Cheers of relief and tears of survival burst across the square! At that moment, another Commodore used "Soru" to appear in front of Roman, nodding softly—a marked change from his previous unfriendly expression.
"Commodore Roman, you've earned the rank on your shoulders."
"Thanks to Commodore Roman, we were able to safely rescue so many civilians today! Now—"
He glanced toward the sea, where pirates, realizing their escape route was cut off, were panicking on their rowboats.
"Sacrifices are sometimes inevitable…"
Saving most people was enough. As for the hostages on the remaining boats… they'd have to go down with the cursed pirates.
"Don't panic,"
Roman raised a hand, stopping the Commodore from signaling nearby warships to fire on the pirate boats. Above them, a flock of white doves had gathered without them realizing.
Doves aren't vultures; they wouldn't gather where death looms. There was only one explanation:
"Paper Dance—Peace Doves."
*Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!*
With a wave of Roman's hand, the doves dove toward the pirate rowboats! Their claws shone with a metallic gleam, and their wing edges glinted like blades, swooping down like a swarm of hunting falcons.
*Splurt, splurt, splurt, splurt…*
Amid the repeated sounds of flesh tearing, a flock of white doves was suddenly stained red with blood. And naturally, "peace" arrived:
"Signal the warships to rescue the hostages."
"Uh… alright."
The Commodore next to him hesitated for a moment, then nodded, not noticing the hint of respect in his tone.
