Chapter 31 - CHAPTER THIRTY ONE IT HAS AWOKEN

Diomede drifted into an open void, flowing through the engulfing darkness. His senses were dulled to the point of nonexsitant. No sound passed through him. No smell or taste. Their touch numbed. He felt neither warm nor cold. He attemtped to open his eyes, and when he did he saw nothing just the dark that swollowed him. "So, you have tasted blood yet again." A voice cut its way through the dark. Like a dull and bent knife cutting its way through the leather of a strap on a boot. Diomede knew this voice, he knew what foul and twisted voice spoke to him. "You aren't going to answer me?" The voice asked as a small blood-red flame began to dance in the dark. It grew with each passing moment, bigger and brighter. Diomede felt weight crash over him and began falling. With a thud, he impacted what felt like a marble floor. Diomded stood up and met the gaze of two giant red eyes staring directly into him. In front of Diomede stood two pillars wrapped in chains, along the floor laid bones covered in armor of an old waring past. Behind the pillars sat a large black figure covered in shadow. Only its eyes and its size could be seen. "What's wrong Diomede? Afraid if you talk with me I might get out of these sensless chains?" Diomede clenched his fists, "No. You know better than that." Diomede replied. The massive figure grinned revealing its enormus teeth. They were the size of stalagmites and as sharp as an executioner's axe. Diomede moved his gaze from the creature, "Why have you begun speaking to me…Omikuna?" The chains tightened around the pillars they wrapped, and the marble growled and chipped by the weight as the best shifted. "Why do I speak? Well, that is simple you have tasted blood again and I have been strengthened by it." Diomede walked closer to the edge of where the pillars stood. "I have not shaped my form nor have I ingested flesh. You have no means to draw strength." Diomede shouted with anger. Omikuna let out a loud and thooming laugh. Twisted and foul as his voice, to hear such a sound would cause even the bravest man's heart to begin racing. "You have allowed too much time to pass in the use of your abilities. So when you began to use them so freqintly and with the desire to kill and hate gripping your heart, I have been fed!" Diomede felt his core be pierced with a warmth-sucking coldness. The shadows that lingered around him began to move, wrapping themselves upon Diomede's limbs. "You have fed the curse that has been placed upon you, and now my freedom is closer than it has ever been before." The shadows lifted Diomded into the air leveling him with the gaze of Omikuna, "I still have control over you beast!" Omikuna's form shifted and shrunk. Its form resembled that of a normal man still shrouded by shadow, it walked forward. "So you think you have control over me? I can't wait to see what happens while you travel with this new group of young heroes, just to see that shocked face of yours again." Omikuna flicked its hand and images of Clayton, Lily, Kira, and Francisco appeared. "I wonder how long it will take for you to either scare them away or…Kill them too?" Memories of a distance past flashed before Diomede. Showing disbodied people. The smell and taste of blood filled Diomede, screams echoed through his ears. Images flashed showing bodies on top of one another, scared individuals cowering in fear. Diomede's heart raced, he relived every moment from his past. The sounds, the smells, and the ecstasy. Omikuna stepped out from the shadows revealing its face, he matched Diomede to the very last detail. Except its teeth were sharp and its eyes were blood red. "Tell me Diomede, do you think this time is going to be any different?" Omikuna grabbed hold of Diomede's head and every scream filled his mind. Diomede let out a large and loud yell of pain and anguish. Until he felt the impact sting of a back fist meets his face. Diomede gasped and found himself on the dirt road with his face in the dirt. Diomede raised his head and looked back at the wagon. Lily was standing in the middle while Francisco and Kira gazed with worry. Clayton stood off the wagon alone in the shadow of the wagon cast by the moonlight. "Are you alright Sir Eithen?" Clayton asked. Diomede was confused for a moment but realized why Clayton was calling him Eithen. "Yes." Replied Diomede, " Im fine just those old war dreams." Diomede felt the right side of his face swelling. He looked to Clayton and Clayton motioned to Lily who stood tall with her left fist clenched. "Thank you Mary for waking me." Lily raised her left brow in confusion and looked around to who Diomede was talking to. Lily met Kira's gaze as she pointed to Lily and mouthed the words "You". Lily sat back down and replied, "Yeah well… you're welcome." Diomede Stood up and turned to the wagon, Gareld had been twisting his back to see what was happening. Diomede gave a half-hearted smile and waved to Gareld. Gareld replied with a nod and turned back to the reigns. Clayton walked to the back and grabbed Diomede's arm. "What was that all about?" Diomede looked to Clayton, "What was I doing?" Clayton leaned closer to Diomede, "You were screaming as if you were being murdered and Kira was panicking because she was picking up your emotions." Diomede Looked over to see Kira hiding her face in a blanket she had wrapped around her. Shame overtook Diomede's heart, "Sorry, I haven't had nightmares like that for a while now." Diomede climbed back into the wagon's bed and sat in the spot he was knocked out from. Clayton Climbed back in the seat beside Gareld, "Everything alright?" Asked Gareld, Clayton nodded, "Yes um Sir Eithen has seen quite a few things from his adventuring some just don't how to leave him alone." Gareld nodded, "Yes, I know a few men who are visited by their past like that too." Gareld gently whipped the reigns, "Ok Randy we can get going again, shouldn't be long now everyone." Diomede laid his head back, his mind still stained by his nightmare. He watched as the moon followed behind them in the night sky.
