Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Kane

Lucas barely evaded the strike, adrenaline coursing through him as he prepared for another counter. Kane lunged forward again, the sharp edge of the scalpel glinting ominously in the dim light. With a quick sidestep, Lucas felt the rush of air as the blade sliced past him, narrowly missing his side. The sharp intake of breath from Kane echoed in the tense silence, igniting a fierce instinct within Lucas.

Before Lucas could regain his footing, Kane was on him again, a blur of strength and aggression. The force of Kane's next strike sent Lucas stumbling back, his heart racing as he fought to keep up with the relentless assault. Each thrust of the scalpel was calculated, precise, aimed to draw blood, and Lucas had to dig deep to maintain his focus.

"Stay fucking still," Kane growled, his voice low and feral. The determination in his eyes burned hotter than the blade he wielded, a fire fueled by jealousy and rage that enveloped the space between them."I thought we could have run away together, to be with another for a long time but I realized with him in the picture I cant have that."

Lucas's mind raced, searching for an opening. He ducked under a slash aimed at his torso, feeling the cool air rush past as he narrowly avoided the blade. "You're pathetic Kane. " he shot back, masking the rush of panic with bravado.

Kane advanced again, the scalpel slicing through the air with deadly intent. "Do you think I'm foolish.Do you think I don't see how he looks at you?" Kane's voice dripped with venom. "You think I don't know about his pathetic little crush? You're just a toy to him. Just like he is to you!"

Lucas didn't want to hear anymore,he grabbed Kane's wrist mid-lunge, twisting it and forcing the scalpel away. The intensity of their struggle pushed them closer together, their bodies almost brushing as they fought for dominance.

With a swift motion, Kane retaliated, delivering a sharp knee to Lucas's gut. The blow knocked the wind out of him, and he staggered back, momentarily dazed.

Kane moved in again, a predator relentless in his pursuit, his eyes wild with fury. "You can't just walk away from me for him.I'll kill you ,you fucking little bitch!"

Lucas's heart raced as he recalibrated, refusing to let Kane take control again. He was done feeling weaker. He feigned a retreat, baiting Kane to overextend. As Kane lunged, Lucas sidestepped and drove his knee up into Kane's chest. The impact momentarily staggered Kane, giving Lucas a fleeting opportunity.

"Fuck you, Kane! This isn't about him!" Lucas shouted, anger mixing with the adrenaline surging through him. He saw the flash of rage in Kane's eyes as he reeled, but it only fueled Lucas's fire. "This is about us. You're the one who's blinded by jealousy!"

Kane's face contorted with rage, and Lucas seized the moment, pushing against Kane's chest to keep him off balance. The scalpel fell from Kane's hand, clattering to the floor, but the fury in Kane's expression only intensified.

Kane hissed, his voice a low growl as he regained his stance.

Their eyes locked, both men panting from the exertion, each fueling the other's rage. Lucas took a deep breath, ready to fight back with everything he had.

Kane's rage surged, his fists a blur as they struck Lucas with relentless force. Lucas could barely comprehend the assault, each blow landing with bone-rattling impact. The adrenaline that once surged through him faded quickly, replaced by the overwhelming weight of Kane's body pinning him to the ground. The world around them blurred into a haze of pain and fury as Lucas fought to keep his vision clear.

"Get off me!" Lucas gasped, trying to twist away, but Kane's grip was like iron. Each punch connected, sending stars exploding behind Lucas's eyes. The sharp sting of pain was punctuated by the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth.

"Not a chance," Kane growled, his voice low and dangerous, filled with a twisted sense of triumph. The muscles in his arms flexed as he continued to rain down blows, each one fueled by a mixture of jealousy and possessiveness.

With each impact, Lucas felt his spirit falter, the harsh reality of his situation sinking in. He had underestimated Kane's fury and strength, and now he was trapped, completely at his mercy.

Kane leaned in closer, his breath hot against Lucas's face, and for a brief moment, Lucas saw a flicker of something else in Kane's eyes—a desperation beneath the anger. But it was quickly overshadowed as Kane gripped Lucas's bloodied face, forcing him to meet his gaze.

"Look at you," Kane murmured, almost tenderly, his voice shifting from fierce to something dangerously soft. The blood trickled from Lucas's mouth, and Kane leaned down, capturing Lucas's lips with his own. The kiss was brutal and passionate, tinged with the metallic taste of blood. Lucas felt a mix of shock and helplessness wash over him, his body responding against his will.

Kane pulled back slightly, his eyes dark and intense as he continued to hold Lucas's face. "I'm doing this because I love you too much," he breathed, his voice a low whisper that hung in the air, thick with unyielding emotion. "I can't let anyone take you away from me. Not him, not anyone."

Lucas's heart raced, a confusing blend of fear and something else stirring within him. The pain throbbed in his body, but it was overshadowed by the intensity of Kane's declaration. "Kane—" he started, but the words were swallowed by the heat of Kane's gaze, his grip tightening as if to claim him.

"Just admit it," Kane continued, his tone a mixture of pleading and commanding. "Admit you want this. It would be better for you to just die than watch as you fall for another."

With that, Kane wrapped his hands around Lucas's frail neck. His eyes were wide, reflecting a psychotic edge.

"Kane!" Lucas gasped, the pressure mounting as Kane's fingers squeezed harder, cutting off his air. Panic surged through him, adrenaline flooding his veins as he instinctively clawed at Kane's hands, desperate for release.

Kane leaned in closer, his breath hot against Lucas's skin, tainted with blood and fervor. "You can't escape this. You can't escape me," he hissed, his voice a menacing whisper filled with twisted affection. "You belong to me, Lucas. No one else."

Lucas fought against the overwhelming sensation of despair. He struggled to draw in breath, his vision blurring at the edges as spots danced before his eyes. "Please…" he wheezed, desperation creeping into his voice. "You don't have to do this. We can talk. Just let me go."

"Talk?" Kane laughed, a cold, chilling sound that reverberated in Lucas's ears. "You think I want to talk? I want you to understand! This is the only way to keep you safe from—from Dimitri!I have seen people like him ,who will stop at nothing to get what they want." His grip tightened further, and Lucas felt his pulse thundering in his ears, drowning out everything else.

Lucas's mind raced. Memories flashed before him—laughter, moments of warmth, the fleeting glances shared with Dimitri, the way his heart had swelled at the mere thought of him. "I don't want this!" he managed to choke out, the words slipping between gasps. "I'm not yours!"

Kane's face twisted with rage and desperation, his hold not wavering. "You will be after tonight! I won't let you go!" He leaned in closer, his forehead pressed against Lucas's, their eyes locked in a fierce struggle. "You'll see, Lucas. You'll realize that this is the only way."

Struggling against the overwhelming pressure, Lucas felt his strength waning. Darkness crept into his vision, and he fought to keep consciousness as his instincts screamed for survival. He could feel the edges of his thoughts blurring, the world around him fading as Kane's eyes burned into his soul.

With a sudden surge of desperation, Lucas mustered every ounce of strength he had left. "Kane!" he gasped, his voice trembling with urgency. "If you love me, let me go!"

For a brief moment, Kane's expression flickered, a hint of vulnerability breaking through the madness. But then, it hardened again, and he shook his head. "I can't. " he said, the emotion raw and haunting.

As the pressure intensified, Lucas felt himself slipping away, the darkness closing in. Just before everything went black, he caught one last glimpse of Kane's conflicted expression—a mixture of love and torment that would haunt him forever.

The moment was shattered abruptly as the thunderous crack of a gunshot rang out, echoing through the dim room. Lucas's eyes widened in shock, the sound slicing through the haze of pain and confusion. Kane's body jerked, the intensity of his hold on Lucas faltering for a brief moment.

Then, without warning, Kane collapsed onto him, his heavy weight pinning Lucas to the ground. Panic surged through Lucas as he felt the warmth of blood pooling beneath them, soaking into his clothes. The metallic scent filled his nostrils, and his mind raced, unable to process what had just happened.

He tried to shift, to push Kane off him, but the sheer mass of Kane's body held him down. Lucas felt the warmth of blood seeping out, soaking through his fingers as he pressed against Kane's side, his heart pounding in his chest.

Frantic thoughts spiraled in his mind, a chaotic mix of fear and desperation. He looked around, but everything was a blur. He could feel his own pulse quickening, the dread tightening in his chest as he struggled to grasp the reality of the situation.

Then, through the chaos, he caught a glimpse of movement. Dimitri threw the gun on the floor ,his face a mask of horror and urgency. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he rushed toward them, calling out Lucas's name, his voice raw and frantic. "Lucas! Lucas!"

Dimitri dropped to his knees beside them, his hands trembling as he reached for Lucas

Lucas's gaze shifted to Kane, whose face was pale.

His vision began to blur, the edges of the room fading as a wave of darkness crept in. He could hear Dimitri's frantic pleas, feel the heat of the blood pooling around him, but it all felt surreal, as if he were watching from a distance.

"Lucas!" Dimitri's voice was growing fainter, filled with despair. "Stay with me!"

Before Lucas could respond, the world around him collapsed into darkness, the last thing he saw being Dimitri's terrified face, a haunting image burned into his mind as he slipped into unconsciousness.
