Kane stood by the window, his eyes narrowing as he continued to watch the house across the street but before he could dwell on it, he heard a soft noise behind him.
Turning around, he saw Lucas leaning against the doorframe, looking as if he hadn't a care in the world. His hair was still a little wet, hanging messily around his face, and he wore tight pants that clung to his legs in all the right places. The loose shirt he had thrown on barely covered his lean frame, exposing just enough of his pale skin to make Kane's thoughts wander.
Lucas was effortlessly attractive, with that lithe, almost feline grace that made it impossible not to look at him. He wasn't the type to spend hours in the gym, but his body was toned in a way that hinted at hidden strength. The pants he wore showed off his long legs, and the way the fabric clung to him made Kane's mouth dry.
Lucas caught Kane's eye and smirked, clearly amused by the attention. "You're staring again," he said, his voice teasing, but there was something else there too—a challenge, maybe.
Kane grinned, stepping closer to him. "Can you blame me?" he asked, his hand brushing against the hem of Lucas's shirt, his fingers grazing the warm skin underneath.
Lucas hummed softly, his smirk widening. "Guess not," he replied, leaning into Kane's touch. But then his expression shifted, just slightly, and he glanced toward the window. "Let's get out of here for a while," he said, his voice a bit quieter, a bit more serious.
Kane tilted his head, studying Lucas's face. "You okay?" he asked, the earlier irritation forgotten for the moment.
Lucas shrugged, looking back at Kane with a casual smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, just... need some air. " he admitted.
Kane frowned, but he didn't push. If Lucas wanted to leave, then that was good enough for him. "Alright," he said, stepping back and grabbing his jacket from the chair. "Let's go. Anywhere in mind?"
Lucas shook his head, walking over to grab his own things. "Surprise me," he said, his voice light again, but Kane could tell there was still something on his mind.
As they headed toward the door Kane threw on some clothes,he slipped an arm around Lucas's waist, pulling him close for a moment. "We'll get out of here," he said quietly, pressing a quick kiss to Lucas's temple.
Lucas leaned into the kiss, closing his eyes for a moment before pulling away. "Thanks," he murmured, giving Kane a small, genuine smile.
With that, they headed out of the room together, leaving the unsettling feeling behind as they made their way through the house. Kane kept a hand on Lucas's back as they walked, a silent reassurance that they were in this together.
Lucas opened the door, the morning heat hitting them as they stepped outside. "Ready?" he asked, his earlier unease seeming to lift just a bit as he looked up at Kane.
........
Kane started the car, the engine humming softly, Lucas leaned back in the passenger seat, gazing out at the passing streets as they haded deeper into town, his thoughts a tangled mess. He could still feel the residual thrill from earlier, the electric buzz that lingered after being close to Kane, but there was something else too—a gnawing desire that clawed at him, a hunger that wasn't entirely satisfied.
"Where are we going?" Lucas asked, keeping his tone light, though his mind was far from it.
Kane grinned, his eyes glancing over at Lucas. "You said you wanted to get out of the house for a while, so I thought we'd go somewhere, just the two of us." His voice was calm, but there was a hint of something darker beneath the surface, a shared understanding that their desires aligned in ways most wouldn't understand.
Lucas nodded, turning his attention back to the window. It was on the thoughts that had been creeping in lately, the ones he didn't dare voice aloud. The need to kill again was rising inside him, a twisted craving he'd tried to push down, but it was becoming harder to ignore.
He knew Kane would understand—maybe too well. Kane had a way of encouraging those dark urges, of making Lucas feel like it was okay to give in. And part of him wanted to, wanted to lose himself in the chaos, to feel the rush of power and control that came with taking a life. But another part of him ,a small part resisted, clinging to the fragile hope that he could still be something close to normal, that he wouldn't completely lose himself in the madness.
"We'll hunt together soon," Kane said, breaking the silence, his voice low and filled with anticipation. "There's nothing like the thrill of it, Lucas. You'll see."
Lucas forced a smile, nodding as if he was just as eager. "Yeah, I'm looking forward to it," he replied, though his stomach twisted with unease. He didn't want Kane to see the conflict inside him, didn't want to show any weakness. Kane could be aggressive when he sensed hesitation, and Lucas didn't want a repeat of the last time he'd tried to pull back.
As Kane drove through the winding streets, the car's interior was filled with the soft hum of the engine and the occasional hiss of tires against asphalt. Lucas leaned back in the passenger seat, staring out the window, his mind a chaotic mix of anticipation and dread.
Kane's eyes flickered to Lucas frequently, his gaze predatory and intense. "You're awfully quiet," he remarked, his tone light but with an undercurrent of something dark. "Are you still thinking about backing out?"
Lucas turned his head slowly, meeting Kane's gaze in the rearview mirror. "Just thinking," he said, forcing a casual tone despite the unease settling in his stomach.
Kane's smile widened, revealing a hint of his psychotic nature. His hand moved subtly, reaching over to rest on Lucas's thigh. His fingers traced a slow, deliberate path up Lucas's leg, the touch both possessive and intimate. His voice dropped to a husky murmur, "There's no turning back once we're out there. I need to know you're with me, all the way."
Lucas's breath hitched slightly at Kane's touch, the warmth of his hand seeping through the fabric of his pants. The caress was unmistakably sexual, and Kane's fingers lingered, pressing lightly but with a commanding pressure that made Lucas's pulse quicken.
"Do you really think you can just pull back from this?" Kane continued, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "Because if you're having doubts, I'll make sure you know exactly what that means."
Lucas shifted, trying to control his reaction to Kane's touch, but his eyes betrayed his growing discomfort. He could sense the psychotic edge in Kane's words, the thinly veiled threat that underscored his seemingly affectionate gestures. He knew it very well, as he was the same.
Kane's fingers slid higher, brushing dangerously close to the hem of Lucas's shirt. "I won't tolerate hesitation," Kane said, his gaze locked on Lucas's face. "I need to feel that you're completely committed, or I'll make sure you understand the consequences."
Lucas forced a smile that didn't reach his eyes.Kane was starting to get on his last nerves. "I'm committed," he said, his voice steadier than he felt. "Just... needed a moment."
Kane's eyes narrowed, but his smile remained fixed. "Good," he said, his hand squeezing Lucas's thigh possessively. "Because once we're out there, it's all or nothing. And I expect you to be all in."
As they continued driving, the tension in the car thickened. Lucas could feel Kane's gaze on him, a constant reminder of the dangerous game they were playing. Kane's hand remained on Lucas's thigh, the touch bo
th reassuring and unsettling, as if marking him as his own.
