Chapter 10 - The Captain's secret

Chapter 10: "The Captain's Secret"

Ama couldn't shake off the feeling that Captain Marcus was hiding something. She noticed he kept glancing at her, his eyes lingering on her face.

That night, as she lay in the cramped quarters below deck, Ama decided to investigate. She snuck up to the captain's quarters, her heart pounding in her chest.

Inside, she found a logbook belonging to Marcus. As she flipped through the pages, she discovered a shocking truth: Marcus was once a slave trader, just like James.

But as she read on, Ama saw that Marcus had a change of heart. He began to question the morality of his actions, and eventually, he turned his ship into a vessel for freeing slaves.

Ama felt a mix of emotions: relief, gratitude, and a hint of suspicion. Why had Marcus kept this a secret?

Just then, Marcus appeared, his eyes narrowing. "What are you doing here?"

Ama stood tall, logbook in hand. "I know your secret," she said. "You used to be a slave trader."

Marcus sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I was wrong," he said. "But I've changed. I want to help people like you."

Ama studied his face, searching for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity.

"Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Marcus nodded. "You're safe now. You're free."

And with that, Ama knew she had finally found what she was looking for...
