When Wisdom got to his room, he grabbed his phone, which had finished charging. He logged in, opened the messaging app, and clicked on Freya's contact.
He saw her last message, a simple "HELP?" which made him realize how new their acquaintance was.
It didn't hit Wisdom until now, but he realized he had no idea how to bring up the invitation. If this were Amelia or Conner, he would have just asked without a second thought. Maybe it was because he didn't know Freya too well yet.
Wisdom began pacing in a circle, thinking of what to say. After a few moments, he typed out a message in his notes:
Wisdom's Draft Message:
Hey Freya, my mom wants to invite you over for 'helping me out while I've been at university.' You don't have to come if you're busy. Also, my other friends from high school will be there, so if that bothers you, it's fine. You could also bring your friend if you want. Have a nice night!
He read over the message a few times, tweaking it until it felt right. Satisfied, he copied it and pasted it into the chat with Freya. After taking a deep breath, he hit "send."
After sending it off, he felt nervous, worrying if he might have bothered her. Deciding not to overthink, he quickly messaged Conner and Amelia, asking if they'd like to join. All he had to do now was wait.
Before heading back downstairs, he remembered to mention that another girl, Freya, might be there, quickly adding another message to the one he had just sent.
Freya's POV:
Freya was in her room, working on her assignment for "The Meaning of the Mask," making decent progress after experiencing certain things and feelings with someone. However, for some reason, she felt bored and unsure of how to feel or what to say.
While taking a break to collect her thoughts, her phone pinged. When she looked at her phone, she saw she had received a message but was unsure from whom. She would have to unlock her phone to see.
Without overthinking it, she quickly grabbed her phone. As the phone reached her face, it automatically unlocked, showing a message from Wisdom. Upon realizing who it was from, she fell out of her chair in shock. Despite the fall, she didn't care and was more curious about what the message was about.
She still hadn't told him about signing up for the competition and wanting his help but didn't know how to bring it up.
As she picked herself up, she sat on her bed before opening the message.
Wisdom's Message:
Hey Freya, my mom wants to invite you over for 'helping me out while I've been at university.' You don't have to come if you're busy. Also, my other friends from high school will be there, so if that bothers you, it's fine. You could also bring your friend if you want. Have a nice night!
She slightly blushed as she read the message, realizing he was inviting her to his house. She didn't know where these feelings were coming from or what they were, but her heart rate began to speed up. However, as she kept reading, she realized other people would be there, which made her heart sink a little, the excitement deflating like a balloon.
Freya was getting annoyed at her feelings being all over the place, kicking her feet up in the air like a kid whining about not getting what they want. Pushing these thoughts aside, she thought it would be nice to go, and it would also allow her to tell Wisdom about her signing up for the competition.
She wrote him back and sent the message before deciding to chill for the day.
After sending the additional message, Wisdom went downstairs to see his mother cooking. He could instantly smell the scent of sweet and sour chicken wafting through the house.
His mother, hearing him come down, asked if they would be able to come.
As Wisdom was about to say they hadn't replied yet, he received a notification ping.
"Give me a moment, Mom," he said, approaching the living room and sitting down before pulling his phone out.
He saw it was a message from Freya, which made him slightly startled and secretly anxious about how she would reply.
Freya's Message:
*Hey Wisdom, I'd love to :) and I will for sure invite Sophie. I'll make sure she behaves :3
Also, there is something I need to tell you anyway. I'll let you know then. Have a nice night!*
After Wisdom read the message, he felt quite happy that she was coming, liking her message. But what also made him curious was what she had to tell him.
Before even having the chance to think any deeper about it, his phone pinged again, interrupting his thoughts.
It was a message from Amelia:
Amelia's Message:
YES I WILL BE THERE!!!
Wisdom started laughing and typed a reply straight away:
Wisdom's Reply:
Okay (laughing emoji), you're gonna show me some artwork as well? :)
It only took a few seconds for a reply:
Amelia's Reply:
Nooooo (crying face) but ok :) see you then!
Wisdom proceeded to like the message. As this happened, he received a message from Conner:
Conner's Message:
Yeah, I'll be there, but please, anything but lasagna.
Wisdom sent a laughing face emoji, turned his phone off, and confirmed with his mom that they all would be coming tomorrow.
Amelia POV:
Soon after Amelia was finished messaging Wisdom. She had thoughts about who this other girl was, upon thinking back she realised how it might be the girl she had seen at the coffee shop when she wanted to visit him.
Unable to hide her irritation, she goes to message Conner, knowing he likely got the same message about this "girl".
"Hey Conner, did Wisdom message you about this girl who will be coming?"
After a few minutes She received a reply from Conner.
"Yeah he sent a similar message, but you shouldn't let it bother you"
Amelia seeing his message knew he was right "but still…" she thought. Despite the deep conversation they had with each other. It seems doubts and fears of losing Wisdom were still crawling through her mind.
She did say that she would have visited him today, however, she has been busy with her artwork and would be lying if she said it wasn't on the spot and she let the moment get to her.
"Yeah your right, am sorry, I let it get to me again"
Conner replying straightaway saying.
"Good, am remember be honest with Wisdom, you don't have to tell him you like him. But just baby-steps of hanging out. Also remember what I said about looking inwards don't rely on him."
Amelia acknowledge what he said recapping the conversation they had and calming a bit down.
"Okay, thank you Conner, sorry for using you as my way to vent my worry :3"
Conner replies
"It's okay have a good night, I need to sleep anyways, after all I got a match in the morning. Goodnight and don't overthink it."
She smiles and then proceeds to reply
"Goodnight Conner, I'll come to watch you, I don't have any plans anyways.
Conner albeit surprised was happy she was coming. Seeing how far they came from meeting through Wisdom and not getting along to now actually getting closer put peace upon Conner's mind.
