I always viewed this forest as a quiet, peaceful and tranquil place, but now with me hidden behind a tree stump scared for my very life, I noticed how dark it is. What was worse was the silence. The very loud silence, with only the frantic beating of my heart to remind me of my true state. Those creatures, they're after me. I can hear their hunger and anger as they circled around me. It was hard to breath, everything was moving in slow motion, I could feel the very hairs on my neck stand at attention. I was feeling true FEAR.Is this my end.....Is this where I die?....NO! I can't let those things do to me what they did to the village, my friends.....my mom *sob*NO GRIFFIN PULL IT TOGETHER! THEY'LL KNOW WHERE YOU ARE!!
*ROAR* Fuck they found me! I quickly stood up and run deeper into the unfamiliar forest not even looking back and just hoping this nightmare ends......
THERE IS NO END GRIFFIN! ONLY YOUR OWN!....
SHUT UP! I WILL MAKE IT. But will I? I asked myself as the sight of the life in my mother's emerald blue eyes left her resurfaced in my mind. How those creatures fed on her body with no remorse.....and her eyes that shed tender tears of suffering. How her eyes pleaded for help...but I didn't i just ran like a coward, an idiot....I should have done something....Mom, I'm so....
*CRASH* Everything went dark. Did I die? Did the creatures finally get to me?...No, I could still hear the forest's excruciating silence. I had simply fallen over an edge, luckily I landed in his thorn bush. I was so caught up in my mother's demise, I wasn't focusing where I was going and now i was the rough forest ground wheezing in pain. But those things were still behind me, I had to continue running. I just had to get back on my.....legs?!....They couldn't move. NO! PLEASE NO! I looked down at my scarred, bloody, disheveled legs. I willed them to move but I couldn't even get a toe wiggle. *ROAR* No! The creatures were getting closer. C'MON YOU STUPID THINGS WORK! but nothing. But i couldn't give up. i started to use my hands to try and crawl away....somewhere....
STOP! WHERE DO YOU EVEN WANT TO GO?! LOOK AT YOU. NOTHING BUT A BROKEN BOY CLINGING ONTO NOTHING BUT HOPE. YOU ARE ONLY DELAYING THE INNEVITABLE GRIFFIN! JUST DIE! AT LEAST DO THAT RIGHT!....
I ignored the voice and simply continued to crawl, hoping and praying someone or anything will help or just stop this.
But eventually, exhaustion caught up to me. I couldn't go on, my body gave up on me as well. Everything was fading, the sound of creatures was getting further and further away but i knew it was only but my body welcoming the thought of death....
DEATH IS INEVITABLE SON! NEVER TRY AND RUN FROM IT!....................*drip*........*drip*......................
Water?......WATER! The river is miles from here so that can only mean...someone is close by. I grunted and pushed myself to get closer to the sound, all while yelling with the little breath I could manage. And thankfully, I got sight of a cottage. Tears of joy trickled down as I started yelling for help even louder. But after the first one, second one, third one, fourth one *sob* fifth one....no answer. No one.....and after all that yelling it was clear the creatures knew where I am now.
HOPE IS NOTHING BUT AN ILLUSION OF REALITY! ALL THAT ONLY TO DROP RIGHT AT DEATH'S DOOR...PATHETIC!
I turned towards the forest and standing mere meters away from me was the tall dark figure in his dark shadowy cloak, his metal scythe gleaming in the full moon's light.....DEATH...He pointed his bony finger right at me and right on cue, the creatures appeared from the forest.
They were wolf like animals but that was where the similarities ended as they had red beady eyes that resembled my mother's pool of blood. And as they inched closer to me, their dagger-like talons striking the ground with which step, I couldn't help but stare at their fanged mouths filled with rows of jagged teeth, dripping with a toxic green saliva that hisses as it hits the ground. But the most off-putting detail about them was their matted black fur that clung to their gaunt frames with patches of skin showing through, covered in scars and seeping wounds. They emitted a low guttural growl as they continued to approach me.
All this while I was still looking death right through his cowl and though his face wasn't visible, I could have sworn I saw my father's face. The creatures finally decided to lunge and feast and I could do nothing but close my eyes and accept fate. But I never met the peaceful release of death but instead I heard the creatures.....whimpering? I opened my eyes and was met with the sight of the creatures engaged in a losing battle with a tall masculine figure who chopped right through the creatures with his axe. I watched his rhythmic dance of death as he killed the creatures and as he delivered the final strike and the creatures' acidic drool hissed into the ground, the mysterious man faced me. With no words he put his hand out and shadow tentacles rushed out his palm and striking my limbs before enveloping me in a dark abyss.
