Chapter 7 - Stuffed Bear

The chieftan's eyes gazed deeply into the boys eyes; such sudden question left them in a daze, unable to respond.

"Let me rephrase: What is it that you two are after?"

For a brief moment, Alan's mouth hung open; this was the first time, since leaving his orphanage, that he had given his goal serious thought.

A thought flashed through Alan's mind, and he quickly reached into the backpack he had been carrying. He pulled his arm out and placed an ancient book on the table. Its edges frayed and the title is difficult to read, It is an extremely old book with yellow and brittle papers.

Upon seeing the book, Eldars eyes widened with surprise. "Where did you get this book."

Alan cast a nostolgic glance down at the book. "I had this book since i was a baby; it was one of the things left down to me."

"I have continuously read this same book many times, and there is just one thing I want to know." Alan once again looked at Eldar with a resolved face. "I want to find out what the prophecy is."

Silence filled the air for a long while before Eldar showed a gentle smile. "So there are people who still pursue the prophecy... Very well, we will tend to your hospitality for a month before you leave."

Eldar rose from his seat and turned away from Alan and Leon, slowly approaching the door. "However, in that month, you two will personally be trained by me." He left the room without saying anything more, leaving the two boys perplexed.

Right outside the room, a young girl with long auburn hair could be seen leaning against the wall. Ariel was listening to their conversation silently the entire time, and when she noticed her father leaving, she gave him a glance. "What do you think about them."

"Those two are not normal, they could grow up to be something never seen before," Eldar said, grinning broadly as he looked into his daughters' green eyes. Without another word he turned a walked down the narrow hallway leaving behind nothing but the echos of his footsteps.

...

Under the manor, a training ground was built, and Alan and Leon stood along the sturdy ground of the arena. Dark walls surround the place, with a single flight of stairs leading to the floors above.

A man could be seen slowly desending down the stairs, wearing a long black cloth with a golden outlining around his neck. His vivid green eyes looked at the two boys with a smile while carrying a small stuffed bear on his left arm.

"Your objective is to take this bear from my hand or make me lose the bear by any means possible." Eldar very loudly gave his instructions and looked at the two boys with a grin. "And you have to do this by the end of the month; whenever and wherever you see me carrying a stuff animal on my left arm, you can attempt to take it away."

His green eyes revealed ominous glow, while his smile became wider. "If you fail, consequences will be dire."

Eldar flung the animal high in the air and brought his hands together, producing a loud clap before smoothly catching the bear. "Starting now."

The boys were frowning and had narrowed eyes. Not sure what the hell they were being trained for, Leon approached Eldar and reached to grab the stuffed bear.

Eldar's eyes gave a glint before Leon's face was met with a large tree vine, launching Leon across the arena and crashing into the wall.

With a thud, Leon fell to the floor, his entire body was in pain; having never experienced such a hard blow. He held his body and looked at Eldar with shaky eyes realising the strength of the man before him.

Alan turned to look at Eldar, sweat profusely falling down his face. Immediately, his eyes shone in a bluish purple light and he flashed towards Eldar.

Upon seeing this, Eldar smirked, As Alan drew in closer, he stood still, slightly moving his head. A gush of wind flew across Eldar's face as Alan struck the air. "Too slow."

Without the chance for any response, Alan felt a ruthless force press against his stomach. A large bundle of tree vines struck him, sending him ragdoll.

Alan grabbed his stomach and gasped hard for air, unable to even breathe; he had never seen such a fast attack before.

The ground suddenly shook with intense force as the ground beneath Eldar became a large quicksand, Leon walked past Alan with glowing amber eyes and stomped the floor.

A wave of spikes erupted from his feet towards Eldar, becoming larger as it approached, but the figure of Eldar was nowhere to be seen.

A fist flew towards Leon's face without even realising it, however, a wall of purple flame soon covered Leon.

Alan rose from his position, grasping a black hilt with a long azure flame conjured as the blade. Alan lifted the blade behind his head and swung it down, sending forth a slash of purple flame hurdling towards Eldar.

Following that, Alan chased along the slash, dashing towards the elf. Eldar reached his hand towards the flame, but a loud rumble noise sounded, and a massive boulder was flying towards Eldar.

With a loud swoosh, his figure once again disappeared as a boulder and fire slash collided mid-air, sending debris through the area.

Two separate vines grabbed Alan and Leon's ankles and launched them to the ceiling, at the same time, the figure of an elf reappeared mid-air.

Two invisible kicks struck the boys and sent them plummeting towards the floor. A loud crash resounded as a vast amount of dust rose from the ground, covering the area.

Two boys laid defeated in the large crater while a man gently landed on the ground above them with a soft tap. At that moment, the two boys realized this was not a simple task.
