Jared had been accustomed to his schedule by the end of the week. He spent his evenings researching the school's tech lab, went to classes, and socialized with Ethan and a few other people. It was there that he found something odd late one night.
Jared discovered a file on one of the lab computers while he lingered back to complete a project. The name of it was "Project Truth." His curiosity prompted him to open it. The screen was loaded with lines of code, but something didn't seem right. This was no ordinary school assignment.
Jared discovered after doing more research that this was a well developed application made to access protected networks. Though he knew he ought to quit, he was powerless to resist. His fingers skittered across the keyboard, interpreting the code.
The screen abruptly flashed, displaying the following message:
"Do you seek the truth?"
Heart raced in Jared. This went beyond a simple school assignment. It seemed difficult at first. He replied by typing, "Yes."
