"Riiing riiing riiiing"
The alarm started ringing from beside Shinku's bed. She sleepily swatted it which caused the digital clock to fall from where it was. The ringing ended and she went back under her pink blanket. As soon as she found her self comfortable among her pillows and warm blanket, a young man entered the room shouting her name and opened the window which let in rays of sunlight.
"Shinku, wake up! You'll get late for school."
"Mhmph, little bit more", she mumbled sleepily, from under the blanket.
The guy tugged at her blanket removing it off of the bed and revealing a pink haired girl wearing pyjamas curled up sleepily. Shinku arose with great effort wiping off her eyelids. Ruchith, the other person in the room opened the window, which filled the whole room with a cold breeze. The sun was almost rising.
Yaaawn, Shinku let out a small yawn.
Ruchith was about to say something but before that he noticed her computer still on. There was a text document open on it.
"Don't tell me you... the whole night yesterday..."
"I yawn completed the story, yawn dad", Shinku said, still half asleep.
"I told you not to over work yourself... Now wash youe face and come downstairs. Breakfast's ready."
Saying Ruchith left the room, but then came back again shortly.
"Oh yeah, print it out. I'll read it on the way.", he said pointing at the laptop, and then left.
Shinku let out one final big yawn, got off ger bed stumbling, and landed herself sleepily on the chair in front of her computer.
"Would he like it?"
And she clicked on the 'print' icon.

"Dwip youf guys waf the news?"
A chubby boy muttered with his mouth filled with food.
"What?", asked the other kid, Sithija, seated right in front of him. A handsome looking boy.
"Dilan asked whether we saw the news yesterday.", replied Lahiru who was sitting across. He wore a pair of specs and gave off a nerdy vibe.
"Sparkf was amaming", Dilan continued.
"Eat first then talk!", said Alice, the girl seated in front of Lahiru. She had a comparatively lighter skin colour and brown hair tied in twin tails. "Anyway, Sparkle sure did beat that monster with one blow."
"That was her signature move, STAR FALL. She last used it two years ago during the Jaffna domain overflow incident. A very rare sight caught on camera indeed.", Lahiru said adjusting his glasses.
"So, what does Sithija think?", Alice asked, her eyes sparkling, turning towards Sithija.
Sithija was taken aback by Alice's alluring bright aura.
"W-well I don't watch…."
Just then Dilan was about to say something while still having food in his mouth. It caused pieces of half chewed food to fly out of his mouth and onto to his three other companions.
"Ewww disgusting, how are you even staying with this pig?", Alice said rubbing off the pieces off food that got onto her arm.
"What are you even doing here? Aren't you supposed to be eating with your girl friends?", asked Lahiru adjusting his spectacles.
"Hmph I'm here to eat with Sithija. Oh oh let me wipe that for you. ", she said while taking out her cute little pink handkerchief to wipe off the breadcrumbs on Sithija's face, but he stopped her and wiped it off himself. After which he felt an intense aura directed towards him.
"What!"
"Playboy", both Lahiru and Dilan said in unison.
Well, there was this guy who attracted girls more than others in once and every friend group. And Sithija happened to be just that.
Alice in the meantime was a foreign transfer student who had fallen head over heels for him. Some might say she was a bit too pushy.
"Well then intervals almost over. See you later boys~", she said wrapping up her lunch box, and going back to her own class.
A few moments later lunch break ended. They went back to their usual places and prepared for the next class.
They were students, in a high school in a district called Kandy, in a country called Sri Lanka in a world that was no longer what it used to be. A couple hundred years ago near to the ending of the third world war a major set of phenomena had taken place throughout the globe. The sudden appearance of domains. Large areas that suddenly got covered by strange penetrable domes, changing the whole environment within it. And the emergence of strange, mutated creatures.
The domains were not the only thing that came upon this world. The sudden presence of an element called Mana was discovered by scientists, and not long after that some newborn children had this mana flowing through their bodies. After reaching a certain age (between 14 -15 years old) they were able to fully utilize this resource and control a certain element of nature at their will. These people were known as Elementalists. It was as if humans were given a gift by mother nature to face the mysterious domains that were causing havoc in this world.

[Kandy Railway Station: 2990 AD]
Alice arrived at the railway station a bit early. She wore a pink long-sleeved blouse along with a pair of white jeans. Alice studied in a prestigious school in the central provinces. It was vacation so she was heading back home to the capital, Colombo.
She checked out the ticket, at the counter, she had booked prior the last night and headed towards the platform. On her way she noticed a large digital tabloid displaying news. And on it was about a domain that had occurred close by.
"I hope we don't run into any sudden domains…", she said to herself averting her eyes with annoyance.
Alice boarded the train, dragging her luggage along with her. It was first class, so she had to search for the seat she had booked. She went through the quite empty compartment and finally found her seat. Alice was happy she got a window. The view on her way to Colombo was one of a kind it would be quite disappointing to not be able to fully view it.
She put her bag on the rack above and made herself comfy on her seat. People came in one by one and within a few moments, and all the seats, except the one besides Alice, were full. Just as the train was about to leave, a strange person entered and sat on the vacant seat beside her. What made him strange were his overly large clothes. Alice wondered whether it was some sort of a fashion. The guy flashed a simple smile at her which she responded to with a nod. He seemed to be of her own age though he was a bit tall and seemed awfully familiar.
Alice put on her pink neck rest and plugged in her earphones as the train started departing from the station. Soon they would be on a journey through the central mountain plains, heading towards Colombo.
None of them were aware that the train would never make to its destination.
