Michael didn't hate Lucifer, their rivalry started way back before descending to earth.
Being two of the three strongest arch-angels in heaven, and as well first born twins naturally they were complete polar opposites. Where Michael was the rule following kind, Lucifer was more the carefree and a rule breaker kind of angel. Now this didn't mean they hated each other it was more like a mutual dislike 'stay in your lane and I will stay in mine of situation'
The point of dissent in their relationship really started when Lucifer and some of the other angels wanted to go to earth.
Humanity intrigued him and the others however there was an iron clad rule and that was to keep humans and angels separate. Lucifer loathed this while Michael up held it and expected the others to do so as well.
And it was like that for the longest time until Lucifer and the others decided to leave.
"No" Michael stated angrily "that is not our way brother we have to be here together, we have to be ready."
Lucifer laughed dryly he heard this argument hundreds of times "ready for what a bunch of words that will never come true?" he ran his hands through his long golden hair frustrated.
Their argument did not end the other angels took it to form sides come of them wanted to leave, others wanted everyone to stay in heaven, while a third group didn't care what happened either way.
The conflict got so bad the brothers were about to battle. Suriel one of the more wiser angels solved the conflict with a compromise.
That Lucifer and the others would go to earth as they wanted on the condition that when the first omen of the apocalypse occurred they would go back to heaven promptly to join the others in preparation for the war for humanity.
In an agreement Micheal sourly backed down and Lucifer and the other angels left heaven.
Then the first omen occurred but they did not come back so Michael went to earth to find them and that is what led to this cloudy afternoon:
"Binding light!" Michael bellowed, wind blew hard against his chiseled face as he beat his wings against air flying bare chested unfurling them had torn off the gray tunic he previously wore.
Light condensed in the center of his hands molding itself into tendrils made of light energy flailing forming five on both hands he shoved his hands in the direction of Lucifer who flew away into the tree line below them.
He evaded Michael's attack swiftly maneuvering past a bunch of very thick trees the ropes of light cut through some easily bombarding them however lost cohesion disappearing just before they touched Lucifer.
Lucifer flew back up gliding and beating his majestic gray white wings against the wind.
It had been centuries since Michael last saw him, his brother had changed in many ways. His once long gleaming golden blonde hair was cut short, he wore human clothes regarded as stylish that were usually worn by the upper classes of human society, compared to him Michael had chosen to separate himself and used his most minimal his celestial gifts to help humans, Michael hadn't found any of his brethren since his descent despite searching them for so long.
A truth he would never admit to anyone especially his rebel brother was that humans interested him a lot so much that half the time he focused on them rather than his mission until he found Lucifer.
"Lucifer you are coming back with me, whether freely or by force is entirely upon you brother!" Michael released more tendrils of light Lucifer laughed heartily "You want to take me back there" he spoke mockingly "I would love to see you try, I am staying and that's the end of it."
he wore a loose white tunic shirt that played merrily in the wind as he leveled himself in the air with black tight pants and shoes in contrast to Michael's bare chest loose white pants and bare feet his sandals got lost somewhere down in the forest.
Somehow Lucifer had found a way to use his wings while wearing human clothes.
It irritated him but somehow Lucifer had grown stronger over the period they were separated "Suit yourself!" Michael flew against him the wind beating on his face. A golden aura glowed just above his skin in a flash he appeared in front of Lucifer
"I was always faster than you idiot" he punched Lucifer heavily with a right hook sending him crashing into a grove of trees.
"Binding light!" Michael released another assortments of ropes made thickly of light, Lucifer didn't expect the punch and after falling he felt disoriented thus when the ropes of light got to him he was just about to fly away.
They wrapped themselves around his wings stringing themselves on his body rendering him almost completely motionless. He tried to break out of them but his struggles were for naught once Michael bound someone with his light escaping was next to impossible.
"Enough brother, its time to go back home."
"Home?" Lucifer answered back eerily he looked unperturbed contrary to his clear intentions of wanting to stay back on earth.
"Are you sure 'You' want to go back" the confidence behind Lucifer's words concerned Michael "What do you mean of course I want to go back." then a revelation dawned on him.
A chilling sensation settled on his heart "What do you do?" he growled the aura around him rippled-glowing brighter Michael landed above Lucifer, he lay motionless on a fallen tree he knocked down the tendrils of light snaked around him. Michael stood on the trunk looking down on Lucifer.
He smiled mischievously despite Michael's angry expression.
"Oh I am sure they already got your human wench and brat!" Michael slapped him so hard Lucifer spit out blood his head burying itself slightly into the tree
"Hahaha" Lucifer laughed defiantly glaring back at his brother his white shirt had gotten dirty "Now brother you have two choices either you take me back to heaven orâŚ" he paused cheekily "you go save you favourite humans."
Micheal didn't hesitate he released his three meters long white wings on either side breaking the surrounding tree line knocking down several trees and flew into the air as fast as he could hovering several meters over the forest and focused, from several kilometers away he heard sounds of screaming and crying in the village nearby and glided in that direction furiously flapping his white wings away.
With Michael gone and no longer concentrating on him, the light binding Lucifer weakened, he pushed against them and broke free. He jumped up and straightened his wings dusting dirt off his shirt and pants. Hit spit out a wad of blood and looked in the direction where Michael flew off to.
"Go to them brother" he said somberly "I am sorry but I cannot leave mine alone"
He took out a small ingot of golden metal from one of his pockets "and I cant have you stopping me either. Elongate!"
The ingot turned liquid spreading itself into a long slim golden arrow.
When Michael got to the village he found them, the only humans he loved since his descent to earth; a woman named Hinata and Eva her child they were being captured by a group of bandits. (the full back story will be revealed later)
He tried to rescue them and in doing so got distracted failing to notice the golden celestial arrow Lucifer shot at him directly into his heart.
âŚ....
The classroom was rectangular and beige; desks faced the longer square width that formed the front, colored in white at the seams, large white rectangular board hung at the center of the front several words written in black ink on it. there were only ten desks and chairs in total five on the front and five at the back each occupied, all of them faced the board there was a wooden brown door on the right side a little bit ways from the board etched into the creamy wall with a transparent glass etched in its upper half.
Michael sat in the back on the right so he could notice whenever someone passed their classroom outside, several translucent windows lined the walls on the back and left side, sunlight was pouring in steadily yet not hurting any student,
11:15 am the clock above the white board showed, one hour later it would almost be lunch time. Michael felt eerily cold despite the warm atmosphere the weirdness further enunciated by cold sweat going down his face. He felt pale and clammy,
Ms. Elaine a middle aged woman of average height similar to most women, noticed him she had learned to notice the signs of an impending episode,
She wore a long sleeved buttoned up white shirt and a black pencil skirt as the homeroom teacher of class 3 and the current English teacher she'd taken it upon herself to know each and everyone of her students Michael in particular was a special case. It was not an uncommon occurrence the "episodes" that is as they were called.
Her emerald green eyes narrowed in behind black framed glasses, the glazed eyes, pale skin, far away look, sometimes even seizures he'd be taken to the nurses' office. she usually gave him a pass in class such as when he was asked a question as it was now "Michael"she asked again in a calm patient voice that seemed to snap him back to class
"Yes Ms. Elaine." He spoke in a low tone like he was not completely aware of himself 'I asked what kind of word is this?' she pointed to the white board a "AN" written on it Michael's eyes focused on the letter like he was reading for the first time "An article" Ms. Elaine smiled the child's sharp wit was his biggest redeeming quality "Correct" she beamed Michael didn't exactly share her enthusiasm seeing envy in some of the other children's faces, they all loved praise from Ms. Elaine yet he received more than most.
Ms. Elaine continued to teach the class, he breathed a sigh of relief he thought of the vision, the coldness of death lingered in him, his skin felt sweaty, his hand shook unsteadily Miss Elaine of course saw this.
"Damn it!" he cursed under his breathe
"Michael" the class turned to him once again "âŚgo to the nurses'"office' she chimed. "Oh and use of such words are prohibited do not repeat again. "did I say that out loud" some of the other kids snickered, he left.
The nurses office is wide its walls bathed in sky blue the smell of disinfectants burrowed into his brain, Michael despite his past trips hadn't gotten used to the agonizing smell.
The school nurse was a short woman maybe 5 foot tall aged enough to be considered old but not too high up to be actually old or elderly.
Michael sat on the bed next to her desk, its mattress covered in white sheets, the thickness of it comfortable its length almost twice his height a fat white pillow at the foot,
"they shouldn't have put it there" he wondered if she would let him sleep on it. His hands had already stopped shaking for a while now but she cautiously insisted he remain in case it started again.
she wore wide round glasses propped on her nose, they are about to fall off though they never actually did Michael thought about it for a moment "why don't they fall, Glued to her face like that?" it seemed absurd.
From where he sat he could see the side of her face, she seemed concentrated on whatever she's writing probably something to do with him since he was the only patient there, she wore her usual blue dress uniform typical of nurses it curves over her back in the space just between the back of the chair and the seat visible to Michael she seemed tense but then again she always was.
Finally bored with the non-occurrence of anything he decided to lie horizontally on the plush fluffy pillow that seemed to call to him, letting out a big whoosh as his head slammed heavily onto it.
It felt as good as he imagined it to be.
On his back looking at the white ceiling he thinks back to the classroom "that is the strongest vision I've had since they started, that was my death from my previous life. I shouldn't call them visions they are memories from my past self."
The "Episodes" had started when he was three years old just as foggy fragmented images, snippets really over time they gotten clearer and with them came episodes where he would black out.
The reactions were different; on a scale from mild headaches to his mouth foaming and loosing consciousness.
"I have gotten better at controlling them, I think" his mood had gotten cloudy he hated when they suddenly occurred "A memory like that should have sent me to the hospital, instead of just a mild drop in body pressure"
The sugary taste of a sweet the nurse had given him still alive in his mouth "at least good things can come from this unsightly condition."
The scraping of the chair filled the silence as the nurse suddenly stood up, she righted her dress using her palms and closed the notebook she was writing on. "Stay put I will be back shortly."
She spoke in her usual stern tone her black eyes meeting Michael's light silvery brown irises for a moment then turns and walks towards the door going into the hallway she slams the door shut on her way out.
"My memories are not fully back." he whispered staring at a ceiling light "I have a mission, I don't remember what exactly that is, to do so I need to recover my power and one thing is for sure
I need to kill Lucifer Morningstar."
