Chapter 7 - A small “Reception”

'I am too weak to endure usage of celestial energy for long periods of time' Michael drowsily thought walking already half-asleep towards his bedroom door 'It took all of whatever willpower within this body to go through dinner but food's necessary for faster recovery.' He fell/opened the door into the dark room not bothering to turn on the lights swaying it shut; fortunately, his bed was big enough to find otherwise the floor seemed like an appropriate replacement. His eyes were fast asleep before hitting the bed head first when he woke up hours later the clock on the wall above the desk read 4.AM

'despite my body feeling a little sore all the fatigue has mostly washed away' He mused standing up he raised his arms up stretching 'Scratch that even the soreness is disappearing, maybe I should try concentrating on the spark of energy' his stomach growled so bad if it weren't for his heightened senses and twice checking he'd believe a monster was hiding under the bed "First things first must refuel…" massaging his growling stomach Michael quietly came out into the hallway and headed for the kitchen.

Half an hour later of filling up on junk food found in the kitchen cabinet and refrigerator, his gut stopped pumping monster sounds. Soft bluish-white lights peeked in through closed curtains behind him "Finally" he loudly burped the feeling of renewed energy running through him "I need quite the amount of food to negate the effects of holding celestial energy for extended amounts of time." He sat on his bed discovering a salty chip falling from his right cheek unabashedly swallowing it midair "Now let's see if I can concentrate" nodding off without realizing. When he woke up the next morning it was time for another school day "I feel stronger" What was a spark a day before now looked like a small candle-lit flame "Practicing, eating, and sleeping seemed to have helped increase the strength and quality of celestial energy, I can feel it this body has grown stronger more adaptable to the energy. The increased energy must have caused re-structuring of this body destroying the more human bits coupled with regeneration that restored the lost tissue thus making it capable of holding more energy than before."

Concentrating he let a bit of the celestial energy flow the small flame he could feel in his sternum diminished a bit as the energy flowed into his hand giving it a soft low glow "This body is quickly adapting to celestial energy the dimmer the glow the more I become more fused with it one step closer to regaining my powers," a memory of two golden eyes flicked though his mind destroying any trace of elation "but Its still far from enough to defeat him." Michael prepared himself for school.

"Michael!" An excited voice called from the only seat in the back across from Michael who sat on the left no one else paid him any attention the teacher hadn't come to class yet. "We're classmates isn't that amazing!" Rainer continued 'Damn it!' Michael thought exasperated 'out of all the kids in this school he is the one who gets transferred to my class.' He tried to glare him away but if that had any effect Rainer didn't show it to Michael's relief the teacher entered before he could continue talking "there's enough of that already" Michael's eyes focused on the white board

A perfect square shaped box laid at the top of the bead that being covered in white sheets blended perfectly, moderately large not enough to cover the width of the bed, a capital M.B initials styled in black printed on the box. Michael took it feeling the edges of the box finding a partition at its bottom the entire thing so impeccably white the entire thing screamed bourgeoisie he took the initials to mean his name Michael Bailon "This must be his doing" Michael propped up the bed putting the box on his lap and pulled the top off the box. Finding a hard paper note at the fore front of the package

Looking forward to our talk grandson,

Simon Bailon.

Michael didn't know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing that the old man took notice of him 'I need to be more careful everything about this man feels like a test, those eyes' Simon Bailon's piercing gaze seemed to see straight right through most people and now they were laser focused on him. "I need to avoid him at all costs, yet I have to go to the party that book…" He thought contemplatively "I have to get it." he unwrapped the nylon around the package inside the box.

Friday 13th

Alyssa and Liam came out of the black SUV first Michael followed suit, the sky turned twilight slowly darkening, the sun's deep orange fully immersed over the horizon. Bailon manor looked splendid and quiet Michael expected people to be everywhere yet only one other car stood insight a black SUV like theirs.

Originally he'd thought the party inside the house yet standing in the enormous foyer nothing seemed to point to that conclusion, large twin staircases curving up around the beautiful crystal chandelier on either side, its light reflected on the alabaster floor tiles and walls giving an ethereal feeling to it on the floor directly beneath the chandelier an image so abstract immersed in the tiles the symmetry and structure of it all so perfect Michael suspected rearranging the tiles in whatever way would result in the same image "Michael lets go" Alyssa's voice came from behind she wore a long white and black dress, backless leaving her shoulders exposed. The dress was half-white on the right side and entirely black on the left side each side tightened at her bosom with stripes connecting behind her neck where she let her jet black slightly curled hair cascade almost reaching the waist she looked beautiful along with her Liam wore a black three-piece suit over a white shirt. They headed towards a hallway extending inward under the left staircase into the great room where several people sat and stood all in different places all looking bored like they'd rather be anywhere else Michael recognized them 'The Bailon family' his eyes whipped around the room spotting the grand piano, playing a symphony of notes yet his grandfather wasn't behind it "Alyssa I am glad you came." A young woman was the first to speak though she never moved from where she sat, she seemed around her mid twenties with silver black hair tied in a pony tail, her outfit had no waistline going from her neck to her feet like a long sleeved shirt combined with pants being black at the top and white below on one side while the other half white top and black below where her waistline was supposed to be. "Avery it's nice to see you too" Alyssa gave her youngest sister a sincere smile that Avery returned her lips placed in a thin lipped smile, her eyes darted around to Michael "Hello Michael" Michael almost shuddered at the clear calmness Avery's voice reflected in her expression, like the calm before a storm except you don't know when the storm will come she looked and felt unpredictable like she could pound a man to death and maintain that silvery smile "Um Hi" Michael answered feigning shyness consciously taking a step back if she took notice Avery didn't show though she kept her intense gaze on him 'Those eyes, remind me of grandfather' he felt uncomfortable like Avery knew something about him that he himself hadn't realized 'I need to be careful around her.'

Two kids sat on a large brown couch a girl and a boy both having snow white hair that went in contrast with their black and white outfits similar to Michael's, on the furthest couch sat a woman mid-thirties she looked older than Avery and Alyssa but had similar features to them both, a man wearing a dark blue suit stood beside her a glass half-filled with amber colored liquid in it both had completely snow white silvery hair. The man's sky gray eyes danced from Alyssa to Michael and then Liam lingering on the last part then turned to the woman on the couch "Whiskey dear?" his husky voice a perfect fit for that largely muscle packed body the suit though fit him well it was tailor made, the woman on the couch didn't answer instead glared at Alyssa. Looking at her Michael an image of the dark deep parts of the ocean where all sorts of danger resided waiting, creeping up to pounce given the chance and all of that was trained on them. "Rena" Alyssa said nonchalantly as if she wasn't talking to her eldest sister, Rena remained silent her gaze was enough to show the nature of their relationship at least from her point of view Alyssa unperturbed as if oblivious continued "Mathias you look well?" this time towards the bulky tall man "it's nice to see you too." Though his expression indicated otherwise, Alyssa' non-apparent expression seemed to anger Rena even more Michael could tell from how the lines on her forehead creased a few centimeters down especially after her husband replied she was about to say something probably that reflected her emotions when Simon Bailon appeared from the hallway behind Michael his footsteps barely noticeable.

"Now that everyone is here" he declared totally ignoring the tension in the room "lets go greet our guests shall we!"
