Aiden's cool voice attracted everyone's attention.
Morris and his wife had long ago come to regard Aiden as the head of the family and
followed his lead. Hearing Aiden's refusal, they sided with their son. Yeah, why do we
need big stars? We've met Arthur Wiles.
Are you a bigger name than him? said Morris. Clara could not bear to see her son
slighted as Dan arrived. She turned her back on him, showing her disdain.
Then Morris asked Walton to give Aiden's seat back to him. Dan Walton's face was sullen. He had been acclaimed everywhere since his debut.
Today, on a whim, he had wanted to work with Midnight Snacks. He had thought they
would be grateful, and he hadn't expected to be treated like this. He was so angry that
all he could say through gritted teeth was, crazy.
They're all crazy. Who even is Arthur Wiles? What films has he been in? Leah listened
and shook her head in astonishment. They are crazy.
She moved towards Amy and whispered, tapping her head. Amy, your brother, is he all
right up there? If Dan Walton came to visit me, I'd be smiling for months. Although Amy
didn't understand Aiden's attitude, she unconditionally supported her own family.
Hearing Leah's words, Amy glared at her. Leah, I know my brother, and I trust him. He
knows best.
If you don't believe it, just look at what he's achieved. Leah didn't really know what to
believe. She sighed, just wanting Aiden and Dan Walton to get on.
At that moment, Stephanie Fox reacted, her cold arrogance turning to anger. Kid, do you
even know what you're talking about? Her saliva sprayed Aiden. Do you know how
uninterested Dan usually is? She continued.
Even with fans, he's not keen to engage. He rarely has these whims, but today he
condescends to come to your pathetic restaurant to help you out. And this is how you
treat him? If this gets out, you can be sure you'll be torn to shreds by his fans.
She was so angry that she trembled. She pointed at Aiden and said, I'll ask you one last
time. Will you agree to our terms? Aiden, his face expressionless, quietly watched
Stephanie Fox's angry performance.
If you didn't hear it the first time, he replied, I don't mind saying it again. Listen up. I
don't want to collaborate with a jumped-up, third-rate, tacky film star.
Aiden's words shocked the entire room. Morris gave him a thumbs-up admiringly. Where
did the boy get his talent for put-downs from? Was it his mother? Leah dropped her fork
on the ground, stupefied by Aiden.
Amy appeared calmer, but nevertheless shook her head, confused by Aiden's words. The
most violent reaction, of course, came from Stephanie Fox and Dan Walton. You, you,
you, stuttered Stephanie Fox, blood rushing to her face.
She trembled all over, pointing to Aiden and trying to speak, but she was so angry that
she couldn't get her words out as for Dan Walton, he was so
furious that he rose to his feet, thumping the table. He pointed at Aiden and spat.
What do you mean? Who's a third-rate star? Believe it or not, if I get a chance, I'd hire
someone to kill you! All his cool dignity had disappeared. Once the mask had slipped,
there was no difference between the bright film star and a street gangster. Ridicule Star
Ridiculability Plus One Aiden's jaw dropped.
It hadn't taken much to see the guy's true character. Perhaps someone like Dan Walton
needs the adulation of 100,000 fans before he'll go to work. But Aiden was not like that.
Dan and Stephanie's haughty arrogance had put Aiden off any sort of collaboration. In
any case, he was confident that his name would be stronger and bigger. No one could be
sure who would be the hottest ticket on social media.
Amid increasing tension between the two sides, there was another knock at the door.
But this time, it seemed much gentler. Aiden's brow furrowed.
How come so many people had nothing to do at Thanksgiving? Shouldn't they all be in
their own homes? But his anger disappeared the moment he opened the door. Aiden!
Aiden! A small soft figure rushed into Aiden's arms, laughing and clinging to him. Aiden
didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but cuddled the little girl, letting her nestle
comfortably against him.
Dora, why are you here? He asked. The wicked wizard brought me. Aiden looked up and
saw that Anthony Kaye had just got out of the car.
He hadn't seen him for a while, but he still looked like an elegant businessman. Kaye
apologized to Aiden with a smile. It's rare for me to have a little time at Thanksgiving.
The little girl has been wanting to see you. It's too stuffy at home. My father misses your
cake very much.
I just wanted to bring her to visit you and get some cakes for my father. He realized the
atmosphere in the restaurant, frowned and said, I hope I'm not disturbing you and your
family. You are not disturbing me, replied Aiden.
Come in quickly. Don't let Dora get cold. Aiden carried Dora inside.
The sweet little girl made Amy and Leah's eyes twinkle. Aw, you're gorgeous, the two
girls cooed, trying to hold her. But Dora's small hands held firmly onto Aiden and
wouldn't let go.
She made a face at the two women. They laughed and teased her. But Dan Walton and
Stephanie Fox were focused on Anthony Kaye, who had come in behind Aiden and Dora.
Stephanie, suddenly shocked, sidled over to Dan Walton and said in panic, Dan, he
seems to be... But before she could finish her sentence, Dan Walton had disappeared.
Without hesitating, he had gone straight over to Anthony Kaye. Hello, Mr. Kaye, Dan
said, offering his hand uneasily.
And who are you? Anthony Kaye stopped on the way to get his cakes and frowned
unhappily. If it hadn't been for Dora and the cakes, he might just have left.
I'm Dan Walton from Star Arts.
You may remember we met at a reception last year. Dan observed Anthony Kaye's face
carefully, and Kaye's frown made his heart suddenly contract. Despite appearances,
there is little to see in the faces of tycoons like Anthony Kaye.
If they want to make a star out of an actor like Dan Walton, it's just a matter of a few
words. But if they want to destroy their careers, that's just as easy. That was why Dan
was so respectful to Anthony Kaye.
Kaye looked sideways at Aiden. Aiden knew what he wanted to ask and said bluntly, I
don't know where the mad dog came from, I was just about to throw him out. This talk of
throwing out, like garbage, made Dan and Stephanie's blood boil.
However, seeing that Aiden and Anthony Kaye seemed to be on good terms, they knew
they had to restrain themselves and looked fawningly at Kaye. Hearing Aiden's words,
Anthony Kaye's manner instantly cooled. Do you want to get rid of him? He asked.
This understated threat terrified Walton. His lower limb seemed paralyzed. Stephanie
Fox, too, was scared to death.
She came up to Kaye, apologizing profusely. Mr. Kaye, there must be some
misunderstanding. They were completely flustered.
They had not expected Anthony Kaye to know Aiden so well. If they had known, they
would never have dared to offend Aiden. Amy and Leah, for their part, had long realized
their mistakes.
In particular, Leah was shocked at Dan's behavior. He was indeed a fallen idol for her.
She whispered to Clara, Who is that frightening man? Don't you know Mr. Kaye? From
the Kaye Group? They shook their heads in bewilderment.
Although Anthony Kaye often appeared on TV, no television was allowed at the girls'
school, and they had never even heard of the Kaye Group. It was clear, though, from
Dan's actions that Anthony Kaye was an important man who should not be annoyed, so
they stopped teasing Dora. Aiden had not yet replied to Anthony Kaye, when there was a
third knock at the door of the restaurant.
Would it never end? Is Mr. Dale at home? I'm from Star Arts Media. From outside the
door came a soft and pleasant voice, which made people want to see its owner. On
hearing it, Dan and Stephanie looked shocked.
They exchanged a startled look, their eyes full of disbelief. What was she doing here?
The look exchanged between them questioned each other. Aiden put Dora down and
opened the door again.
Outside, a beautiful young woman was waiting. She just smiled and looked at Aiden. She
was wearing a black silk dress, a cloak with a pale yellow fur lining, and her long legs
were encased in black silk stockings.
Her face was pale, her lips showed the faintest smear of pink lipstick, and her smile was
charming. What a bewitching woman! Seeing Aiden open the door, the woman handed
him her business card and said with a silvery laugh, Mr. Aiden Dale, you are as
handsome as in the video. I'm Scarlett Sullivan, General Manager of Star Arts Media.
Nice to meet you. Aiden, his head swimming, held out his hand to her. Video? What
video? he asked, bemused.
