It was a peaceful Sunday evening. Eru silently watched as her father exchanges vows with her soon-to-be stepmother. Hot tears flood her eyes and slowly stream down her cheeks. She quickly wipes them and excuses herself in a rush to the bathroom.
Eru enters the building nearby but speed walks right past the bathroom to the series of stairs ahead. She makes her way up to the rooftop of the 15 story building and slumps down on a worn out chair facing the Sun. She finally lets go and starts sobbing for a long while, before finally looking up at the most beautiful sunset. At the sight of it, Eru's lips slowly curl up to reveal a warm and genuine smile.
First one since then. Eru thought, as a memory slips into her brain. A memory of her and her mother on that very rooftop looking at a sunset just as beautiful as the one she's staring at. Eru's tears start rolling fresh at the thought of her late mother.
Almost immediately, another flashback slithers into her thoughts - only this one was the most dreadful memory sitting in her head. The last argument her parents had...
"You can't leave me" a female voice sobbed while Eru stood stunned looking at the scene in front of her.
"Let go of me and stay away", another voice screamed back.
"At least tell me her name, the one you love so much more than me that you'd leave me like this!"
"Lady! Stop blabbing nonsense and leave me alone." The owner of the voice looked in Eru's direction. "I'll be leaving", he thundered, "and don't even think about following me, you understand!". And with that he, stormed out.
Eru stood there, staring at her mother on the floor still sobbing. And not very long after, Eru's mother died of a heart attack due to depression. Eru ended up having to live with her father and she hated every bit of her life after that. Eru despised Christine, her father's new fiancé, for taking her father and her mother's life from her. Just like that!
"Eru!"
She suddenly broke from her thoughts and stood up.
"Eru, are you here?"
Her father's calls were getting louder and nearer as she slowly made her way to the edge of the rooftop.
"Eru?"
She could hear her father's presence a couple of feet behind her. One more time she looked at the sunset ,now darkening, in front of her, and then turned around to her father who was looking at her with a blank expression on his face.
"Thank you for taking care of me - even if you hated me just as much as you hated mom", Eru uttered under her breath.
"What are you talking about! What a troublesome child you are - just like your mother! Now get going downstai-"
Eru heard the man's voice grow fader as a huge gust of wind hits against her head. She looked down to see the ground rapidly come closer. She finally closes her eyes and sighs.
Goodbye, this fucked up world.
