Eleven, the age every young witch and wizard looks forward to, and there it was, bright and early that morning: a beautiful white owl carrying a letter. Obviously, it was from Hogwarts.
Caim didn't even bother to look at what it said; he just tossed it into the air and the paper burst into red flames.
Over the past two years, Caim had grown a lot. He was now as tall as a fourteen-year-old, taller than both Robert and Daniel, who were already taller than kids their age.
They'd improved a lot. Their magic was powerful and refined, probably on par with a graduated Hogwarts student. Robert, of course, hadn't changed a bit; he was still naturally lazy. Daniel, on the other hand, remained serious, but something about him had changed.
Daniel had a rough time with his family. His father, Lucius, wanted him to be perfect at everything, especially when it came to the 'Dark Lord's cause,' something he disagreed with. In his view, all the Dark Lord and his followers had done was destroy and kill without purpose or direction.
Of course, Lord Malfoy wasn't happy to hear that from his son, and they spent months arguing until things reached a breaking point. During one of these arguments, his mother, Narcisa, tried to calm them both down as she saw her husband with his wand drawn.
In his uncontrolled rage, his own father hit his mother with a cutting spell, leaving her injured and bleeding. This, of course, made Daniel furious, and in his anger, he used one of the spells he'd learned from Caim, 'Ignis,' and almost managed to burn his father with orange flames. Unfortunately, Malfoy was an experienced wizard and cast a 'Protego,' defending himself from all dameges and using the force of magic to paralyze Daniel, who felt as if stones were being placed on his back.
After that, he was banished from his home, and the Malfoy surname was taken from him.
Robert's grandmother took Daniel in and gave him the surname Lightwood, a secondary branch of the Blackwood family. After those days, Daniel said, 'I'm going to be greater and better than everyone in the Malfoy family,' and so he too began to train day and night relentlessly until he reached something Cassandra called an 'enlightened state.' It was something that came from esoteric magic, which also sharpened the mind and greatly improved magic related to faith and protection.
Of course, all that was in the past. Now it was time to look to the future. They were planning to recruit people like them for 'Clear Sky.' They wanted students from all Hogwarts houses, so they would have more influence among their peers. After that, they would have to take 'Clear Sky' outside of Hogwarts, and to do that, Daniel and Caim were making a plan.
The day after the letter arrived, they went straight to Ollivander's to buy their wands and met Garrick Ollivander. He was strange and had a deep gaze. The feeling they got was one of transparency, as if he could see the desires of their hearts.
Garrick knew those boys weren't normal. 'Good morning, I see you've come to get your first wands,' said the man in an animated tone that couldn't hide his appraising gaze. Caim, of course, answered for them, 'Good morning, Mr. Ollivander, yes, we've come to get our first wands.' The boy's tone was firm and monotonous, something he'd gained after years with Cassandra.
Ollivander soon began to put boxes and boxes of wands on the counter of his shop, and Robert was the first to try. After several wands, he picked one up, and the whole room trembled. He had found his life companion, a wand of chestnut and thestrial tail hair, 28 centimeters long and flexible, difficult to control but loyal and powerful.
Then it was Daniel's turn, and the first wand he chose was his, and with a flash of light, his wand was revealed: cherry wood with a dragon heartstring core, 29 centimeters long and rigid, a powerful and incredibly beautiful wand.
Finally, it was Caim's turn, and it took him much longer to find his. When he did, the whole room turned cold, and the flames of the candles lit in the shop grew visibly weaker. That wand was very old and seemed to have been in the shop for a long time. It was made of elder with a basilisk horn core, 30 centimeters long and completely rigid, powerful, beautiful, and extremely deadly.
They paid the 21 galleons and left the shop. They didn't buy anything else, as the house-elves had already gotten the listed materials.
Then they decided to return to the Winters mansion where, strangely, they couldn't find Cassandra. After that, they went to the library to read, and after a few hours of reading and walking through the large corridors of the library, Caim found himself in an area never before seen or accessed, even by Cassandra or the elves, as the floor was covered in dust.
And at the very end of the corridors of that area was a modest pedestal with a small set of books on top, and that title made Caim's whole being vibrate.
