Anup's fingers twitched ever so slightly. It was brief—barely noticeable—but Cruzer caught it.

So the Hero Candidate wasn't as composed as he wanted to appear. Interesting.
Cruzer's smirk widened. "What's wrong, Anup? Did I hit a nerve?" He leaned forward slightly, voice dripping with mock concern. "Are you… nervous?"
Anup exhaled through his nose, his gaze sharp but unreadable. "No."
Cruzer chuckled. "Really? Because it kinda looks like it." He took another step closer, golden eyes gleaming. "Or maybe…" His voice dropped just slightly. "…you already know you won't make it past Aria."
Anup's jaw clenched.
Bullseye.
Cruzer tilted his head. "Come on, be honest. You've fought her before, haven't you?" He tapped his chin, feigning thoughtfulness. "And I bet it wasn't exactly easy, was it?"
Anup didn't reply.
Which meant Cruzer was right.
