The battlefield crackled with tension as void energy swirled around Cruzer's greatsword, its dark glow illuminating the fractured ground beneath him. Rin, still panting, tightened her grip on her twin blades. Every muscle in her body screamed, but she refused to back down.
Cruzer sighed, rolling his shoulders. "You should've stayed down, Rin."
She wiped the blood from her lips with the back of her hand. "Not happening."
A grin tugged at the corner of Cruzer's mouth. "Fine. Let's make this interesting."
Without warning, he lunged forward, his Void Step propelling him across the battlefield in an instant. Rin braced herself, anticipating his movement, but he reappeared at her side instead of directly in front of her.
Damn it—he's switching his rhythm again!
