The darkness finally stopped emerging in front of me, I saw an impossible sight that one should never see when dying. At first, I even thought of it as my imagination.
A delusion of a dying person, The land was rising from the depths of the seas. The ocean was raging red- No it was better to say it was an ocean of flames and not water.
A ruined world, a desolate land devoid of any life, stretched endlessly before me. And then it came, A huge colossal figure towering over the sky trampling over the scorching earth.
In a final, desperate act, I reached towards my hands towards the dying land but my hand and my whole existence blurred and disappeared when I did that, In my last moment I saw a golden-haired figure jumping and lunging towards the towering figure.
I jolted awake, my eyes flew wide open, and I was lying on a grassy slope.
I could smell the earthy perfume of a nearby field and the gentle sound of wind-blown grass rustling.
Disoriented, I tried to stand up but suddenly a jolt of pain ran through my entire body, the pain was most severe in my chest.
The throbbing sharp pain in my chest didn't show any signs of stopping.
I broke into a cold sweat, clammy and persistent, it slicked my skin. It was not the sun causing me this much discomfort, it was an unfamiliar chill radiating from within me.
Every breath I took felt like a struggle for life, I even nearly vomited due to this terrible discomfort I was feeling right now, It was much worse than the pain that had started to subside.
Suddenly the pain and the uncomfortable sensation disappeared, A feeling of relief took over me.
"What on earth was that?" With a sense of terror searing my being, I hastily sat upright. A light breeze whisked the grass that was sticking to my clothes away like a tiny hay shower.
I looked at the sky and saw a sight that nearly made me faint, Two. Massive. crimson. Suns. Yes, I said it. There were not just one, but two suns blazing in the sky.
Usually, I maintain a calm and collected demeanour and take things like a cool person. But what about now? My jaw literally dropped to the ground, dispelling any semblance of maturity.
I looked at the sky and rubbed my eyes as much I could and opened them again and again, But the absurdity of the world didn't disappear because of my comedic actions.
Everything felt very... wrong, It was like someone had changed the settings of a game or a bug had been found which was messing up everything. But this was not a game, An absurd reality I had found myself in.
In all my years in school, no teacher had taught me that there is a place with 2 suns, It makes me question the authenticity of the teacher and how much we learn is applicable in life.
So, after much deliberation which wasn't much, I came to the conclusion I wasn't on earth. Yippy, I am going to live the life of an average truck-kun victim-wait truck-kun didn't hit me.
"What is this place? Why-" So many questions were on my mind with no answers in sight. I started to run to see any resemblance of society, it had come to mind that even if I find a society here it doesn't have to be necessarily humans.
It could be a sort of aliens and monsters society but it wasn't like I had any other choice. As I ran I noticed my hands and feet were small just like a kid, dont tell me I became a kid.
I finally came to the location – a fenced-in area, presumably to keep people from toppling off the edge of… whatever this place was – looked deceptively familiar.
"Right," I muttered, voice laced with a mature realization. "Just like back home – a creepy forest."
The forest behind the fence gave me an oppressive feeling, strange symbols covered the entire fence, I tried to understand them but I couldn't get a head or tail of it.
If I was a member of the Truck-kun association then I would have happily climbed and jumped over the fence and go to the other side but sadly I was not.
The other side looked like a den of secrets waiting for me to explore it. "Yeah, no thanks,". I mumbled to myself already moving away from it.
"This creepy place can keep its secrets to itself"
In truth, there was a part of me wanting to see what was beyond it but that same part was the one who caused me to die while watching horror movies. Common sense was winning for now.
Suddenly, a memory started to play inside my head of a person completely different from me, I assumed it was this body memory but..., The life this boy lived was completely ordinary without any tragedy in it, unlike mine.
Oh no. Did I just jinx myself? Memories filled with sadness started to flash in front of me. I had fallen on the ground confused at what was happening.
I clenched my head as the 2 memories of mine became one, I became confused about whether I was Austin or the owner of this body. I had become disassociated from reality in this moment.
Nothing felt real to me, I slowly picked myself up and started walking to the place where the memory of mine guided me. I kept walking like a dead person but slowly the world started to feel real to me.
It was like I was adapting to the changes in me, I slowly saw the place I called 'home' in front of me some distance away. I took a breath to collect myself.
The sun had started to set, I was not surprised as I wasted a lot of time when I just came here in this world.
