Chapter 6 - Shadows of Tommorow

In the heartbeat of Japan's bustling streets where neon lights clashed with the remnants of ancient traditions, two children found themselves running not just from their families, but from destinies they never chose. The air was laden with the scent of cherry blossoms, despite the summer sun blazing above, casting shadows of forgotten dreams.

Viviane Carmilla Tepes, with her striking silver hair cascading like moonlight, was a mere nine years old but bore the weight of blades sharpened by her lineage. Her red eyes sparkled with a fierceness beneath the calm façade she wore like armor. Beside her was her companion Vali Lucifer, a boy who seemed born for battle despite his small stature. At only four feet six inches, he exuded a determination that even adults might envy. His yellow eyes glimmered with the thrill of combat, while his silver hair reminded others of the storm that brewed within him.

They had escaped Rizevim Livan Lucifer, Vali's grandfather, after a fateful night where the boy's fierce spirit clashed with the cold ambitions of his granfather. Viviane had joined him, drawn by a mutual understanding of their predicaments. She was not just another child; she was a powerful.

"Do you think they'll find us?" Vali asked, his voice a low growl laced with both excitement and apprehension. He had always thrived on the challenges ahead, but this was different. This wasn't a battle for glory; it was survival.

Viviane shrugged, offering him a small smile. "We'll keep moving, won't we? As long as we stay together, we can face whatever comes next."

Their journey had brought them to the outskirts of a city enveloped in fading daylight, the air growing thick with anticipation. It felt like an eternity since they had last paused. They took refuge in an old abandoned shrine—a sanctuary hidden from prying eyes.

As they gathered their breath, shadows began to seep into the corners of their sanctuary. They were not alone. Vali's heart raced, not from fear, but from the thrill of an unexpected encounter. Before the two children could react, the looming figure of Azazel, the leader of the fallen angels, stepped through the mist.

"Hey there, little runaways!" Azazel's voice boomed with a mix of amusement and mischief. He ran a hand through his tousled black hair, his golden bangs framing his charismatic smile, but the unmistakable glint in his golden eyes hinted at his more dubious endeavors. "You both are quite the catch! What's a couple of prodigies doing out here in the wild?"

Vali tightened his fists, bracing for confrontation. "We're not interested in games. Just leave us alone."

"Well, that's a shame because I was hoping to offer you a little help." Azazel leaned against a nearby pillar adorned with faded inscriptions, examining the two. "You see, I've heard quite a bit about you, Vali. And Viviane—my, my! With those looks, I bet you'll grow into an S-Class beauty when you're older. Your looks is fascinating!"

Viviane flushed crimson, feeling both embarrassed and bewildered. "That's not why we're here!"

Azazel chuckled, amusement dancing in his eyes. "I know, I know. But truly, you're in a dangerous position. Rizevim is not someone to be trifled with. How about we get you somewhere safe?"

"Why would you help us?" Vali challenged, suspicion brimming in his voice.

Azazel paused, a fleeting seriousness crossing his face. "Because, kid, I see something in you—a potential for greatness. It would be a tragedy if you were wasted in a game of power struggles. And besides..." His voice trailed off, a tone of mischief returning. "I'm curious to see how you both unfold. Think of me as an ally, if you will."

With a flick of his wrist, the atmosphere shifted, pulling them into the embrace of Grigori—his home base and the sanctuary of the fallen angels. It was an odd place, a mix of high-tech advancements and gothic motifs, a reminder of the old world yet a symbol of rebirth.

As they stepped into the haven, Viviane felt a strange flutter in her chest. For the first time, she sensed the possibility of freedom. The walls hummed with an energy unlike anything she'd known.

"Welcome," Azazel gestured dramatically, as if presenting a masterpiece. "This is where you can truly explore your potential without the shadows of your families looming over you."

Hours turned into days as Viviane and Vali acclimated to their new home. Under Azazel's watchful eye, they trained relentlessly. Vali thrived in the heat of combat, each sparring match igniting his spirit, while Viviane focused on honing her innate abilities. She discovered that her Tepes bloodline granted her significant prowess; controlling shadows became an intuitive skill, aiding her in her newfound bonds.

"The way you manipulate shadows is extraordinary!" Azazel praised one day, his gaze gleaming in a way that made Viviane acutely aware of his peculiar intensity. "Just imagine what you'll become with further training."

Viviane smiled softly, understanding that in this sanctuary, she was carving her path rather than being shaped by her past.

As their training progressed, the bond between Viviane and Vali deepened. Beneath the surface, there was a foundational trust—a quiet commitment to protect one another. They were not just two lost souls; they were warriors of their own making, crafting a future.

Azazel remained a complex figure, his antics often overshadowed by the stark truths of their circumstances. Yet, in the dance of light and shadows, Viviane and Vali stood firm, ready to clash against the inevitable storms ahead.

In the heart of an uncertain tomorrow, Viviane would not merely be a Tepes; she would be a force to be reckoned with, and Vali would rise as the lone wolf seeking the greatest battles. Together, they would shape their destinies, carrying their only refuge—the strength found in each other's resolve.

Thus, their story began, with shadows flickering behind them, but hope lighting the path forward.
