The laser hit the shoulder pad of one of the Aqua Droid. The droid just barely staggered a single step before marching forward again.
But another 3 shots, not from my blaster. Hit it, taking it out.
My eyes narrowed, though nobody could see it. In concentration as I aimed once again.
This time, my aim was the light link between the Aqua Droids left foot and waist, which didn't have any protection.
I pulled the trigger 3 times after each other, the first 2 missing. But the third hit its mark.
The Droid Staggered forward, falling as it's left leg was separated from it's main body. And it fell down forward.
The Clones around me, immediately spotted the easy kill. And 2 headshots on the downed and unmoving droid quickly put that one out of play.
This time, my barrel moved to the right as I took aim at the droid right beside it. But just as I was about to open fire, 3 shots hit the droid from 2 different clones, destroying it.
I couldn't help but witness a smile from on my lips, even while in combat. But I still aimed my barrel once again.
This time at the head of another Aqua Droid, releasing 4 shots. 3 of which hit their mark, killing another droid.
And like that, the Battle continued, as we shot down droid after droid.
When they got too close we'd open our trump card, the E-web turret. Which allowed us to regain our position while cutting down their numbers.
We'd then retreat the E-web and continue fighting.
Like this we fought for more than 30 minutes, and the Aqua Droids were getting fewer and fewer.
"Seems we're winning, Captain." I heard Lieutenant Tyr say through the comms.
I had just taken a break to reload my gun and prepare to return to the frontlines, when he contacted me.
"The right and left have almost completely routed their opponents, seems like they've focused all their forces on you." Tyr said through the comms and my brow furrowed.
That didn't make sense, the droids didn't just device new strategies. They'd need commanding from an organic or strategic programmed individual. And if they did, it wouldn't make sense for them to divert all forces towards the middle.
"Tell them to hurry up, they need to clear their remaining hostiles. Then have them retreat to your position on standby, the Separatist are preparing something." I told him through the comms.
"Understood, and what about the 10 reserves from Shield Platoon we have here?" He asked.
"Send them to my position, we'll give our Shield Squad a slight break." I told him before cutting the connection.
This didn't make sense, focusing all forces on breaking through a single point when you failed with more numbers before just simply didn't make sense. Even if you put all the separatist forces on the bridge together now, they'd still be less than half of the total number we've killed on the middle bridge.
The forces on the middle bridge, which originally consisted of 51 soldiers, had been cut down to 34 soldiers. However we had killed about three-four times as many droids.
I watched as the last of the left and right bridges got killed, and I saw the end of the endless flow of droids ushering out of the platform.
This would be our last wave.
"Troopers, the droids no longer possess reinforcements. All we have to do is deal with this last wave, and we'll have successfully won!" I said into the comms, and I heard some shouts around me, seems they were pumped to end this incoming stream of droids.
I then spotted Fyre company arrive, moving to replace the current Shield Squad infront of us.
"Give the Shield Platoon suppressive fire to rotate their squad!" I shouted to those closest to me as I aimed my gun and stepped forward opening fire along about 15 men.
The shift in squads was quick and efficient, they passed each other at the same time, all of them. And they stretched out their shields, forming a defence. Now they'd barely need 10 seconds to get their concentration aimed at the conflict and prepare themselves.
However, my eyes widened when I heard a shout.
"Commando Droids!"
And immediately after, I heard metal touching metal as one of the Fyre Squad Troopers fell down, and a Commando Droid took his place.
Without thinking I rushed forward, grabbing the thermal detonator from my back, and pressing the trigger. Starting a countdown and I threw it.
I threw it far away from the shield wall, into the middle of the still marching Aqua Droids, and it exploded. Creating black smoke and destroying about 10 Aqua Droid while throwing another 20 off their feet.
On instinct I lifted my DC15A, horizontal to the Commando Droid who broke through, the droid in question had lifted their Blaster Rifle and aimed it at the Shield Man beside him.
I aimed as I ran, my accuracy decreasing due to running, but still. 3 shots, and one of them hit his blaster. Sending it out off his hands.
However, my fire rate didn't slow as I focused it on the Commando Droid, whom quickly began attempting to evade my shot, and it took 20 shots to finally take it down after 5 successful hits.
It fell just in time for me to stand side by side with the shield wall, and the 9 of them was struggling against 11 Commando Droids.
Fuck.
"Fyre Squad, fall back. Guardian Squad, prepare to assist Fyre Squad. Orange Platoon, fire at will." I shouted into my comms.
Guardian Squad was the original squad we got, and Fyre was the reinforcements.
Immediately after, Fyre Squad began slowly retreating. And behind me I spotted Guardian Squad forming up with their shields, 5 meters away.
"Hand me a detonator!" I shouted and the man beside me handed me his. I quickly pulled the trigger before throwing it, and it began rolling, behind the Commando Droids.
"Formation 3.1!" I shouted, and without response, all of the members of Fyre Squad crouched down, before situating their shield 45 degrees.
And not a second later, the detonator exploded. Sending a shockwave our way. But the angle of the shields and the fact we were lower, saved us from most of it.
But not the Commando Droids. Although their extremely durable armor held them together, they were thrown off their feet, and flew past us, 3 of them even hitting the shields of Guardian Squad.
"Box them in and destroy them!" I said into my comms as Guardian Squad advanced, the men behind them shooting the 3 unfortunate Commando Droids.
Meanwhile, Fyre Squad turned around, completely boxing the droids in. But at the corner of my HUD, my rear helmet camera caught the rising figure of 2 Commando Droids.
"Leave the Commandos to me." I told Fyre Squad.
If even just one of them left the formation, it's performance would rapidly decrease.
I looked around to see my DC15A having been blown out of my hands, but luckily. The same had happened to the Commando Droids.
But both of us still had weapons.
The pair of commando droids unsheathed their swords from their back, while I brought my hands to my waist and retrieving my pistols.
My eyes focused on the Commando Droid on my right as I aimed the dual DC17 and opened fire, 3 shots from each gun rang out. A total of 6, 4 of whom hit the droid. Which staggered it enough to make it fall behind it's twin.
I rolled out of the way of a downwards jump slash from the 2nd Commando Droid, firing 2 shots as I crouched after the roll, which halted any follow up charge.
However, I was forced to sidestep and upwards slash from the 1st Commando Droid. But this time I didn't retreat as I stepped forward and smashed the butt of my pistol into it´s head.
The Droid attempted to retreat and regroup, but I didn't let it as I stepped behind it, and attempted to kick it's feet, to tackle it.
But its programming kicked in and he jumped high, both to get away, but also to not fall. But as he did, I couldn't help but smile as I raised both my guns and shot 4 shots into him, each of them hit as I could easily predict his route in the air.
However, I suffered a kick to the right of my head, sending me sprawling.
I had left the second commando droid unchecked for too long, and it had now punished me.
My head began ringing as I got up to my feet, and I caught the droid jumping, it's sword raised to stab me.
I barely managed to bring my left hand to my right hand´s wrist controls and I pressed a button. And the jump pack on my back activated, allowing me to safely escape, and I remained in air as I regained myself, until I landed back again.
Whereas, my scanners showed barely 3 remained from the Commando Droids, 2 were still in the encirclement and the third is here with me.
I lifted my pistols and shot at the Commando Droid, but suddenly his speed increased and he reached me, before I could react.
He proceeded to kick me in the stomach, making me bend over, but it was followed up by a strike to the chin, which lifted me from the ground.
And it ended with a side kick, which sent me flying off the bridge.
As I was about to pass over the bridge, my head ringing and stomach hurting, I pushed through and aimed my right fist at him and pressed a button, and a wire shot out.
And it connected with the droids, and as I was thrown over the side of the bridge. The droid which hadn´t actived it's magnetic locks was thrown after me, sending us both over the edge.
But I had something he didn't have, a jetpack. And as so, I cut the connection of the wire and actived the jump pack. Allowing me to fly safely back to the bridge, where I landed behind Guardian Squad. Whom had formed up to defend us against the renewed assault from the Aqua Droids, whom had spent a surprising 45 seconds to attack us after the Thermal Detonator.
But apparently, some of the clones had thrown a few more detonators while we fought.
