Conrad jolted awake, his heart raced as he sat up in his bed, drenched in sweat.
He immediately looked around, the burning city, the suffocating heat, and stench, the monster, all of them were gone. Even all of the injuries he suffered in there were gone. He was back in his room.
Moonlight filtered through the curtains, when he looked at the time on his mobile device, it was still in the middle of the night.
"I'm…back?"
Connie ran a trembling hand through his damp dark brown hair as he glanced around, half expecting to find his Mentor, Devil hovering somewhere. But there was nothing. No city of ruin, no monster, and no Devil. Just the quiet hum of the night.
'I wonder if all of that was just a dream'
He swung his legs over the side of the bed and planted his feet on the cool tiled floor. Connie had lingering thoughts of doubts about what happened in the past couple of hours, basically from when he met Devil.
