Chapter 13 - Chapter Eleven

ELEVEN: THE ARSONIST

(ALEX KROSS)

The Devil stepped in. I still couldn't see his face. The Director was stunned for a moment. Quickly regaining his composure, he moved closer to the Devil.

"The Devil you say? Was it supposed to have scared us Mr. Devil? Breaking down the wall? Ooh! Soo scary!"

The Director and the counselors roared in laughter. The other guy was silent. The Director spoke again, "So tell me, where does the Devil go after Death?"

Saying this, he headbutted the Devil. With a loud bang, the point where they made contact, exploded! The Devil was shot backwards, but he managed to stay on his feet. The Director was impressed.

He commanded one of the Counselors, "Go! Bring me the corpse of the Devil!"

Like a bloodhound, the Counselor sprang forwards on the command. He extended two feet long claws, and swung them down on the Devil. With a swish, the Devil blocked him with a staff or a stick. It was hard to say in the dark.

He spun the staff around, and whacked the Wolf guy on his head hard. Staggering, the Wolf growled. Then dashing forward, he leapt in the air. He spun 360 degrees, with his claws stretched, and brought them down again.

ROAR!!

Bright cyan fire erupted from the Devil's Staff. I closed my eyes at the sudden brightness. And from the sounds, I could tell that the Wolf had done the same. With a sizzling sound, followed by a high pitched howl and a thud, everything went silent and dark again.

I opened my eyes. The Wolf lay charred at the Devil's foot. He kicked the remains which broke into ashes. Then he stepped over the remains and made his way to the Director.

They stood face to face again. The Devil thudded his Staff on the ground. The Director flinched at the sound. Then the Devil spoke in a hoarse voice, "Look man, I don't give a fuck about what you're doing here or who you kill, that's your fucked up business. But the second you laid a finger on my team, you just booked a date with the Devil."

"Don't get cocky, just because you got lucky against a dog. I am a Level 15 Demolitionist, you're fire powers are weak against me. I can blast you to pieces in the blink of an eye. Go away, while I'm still being nice."

The Devil snorted. "Scared Mr. Director? 'fraid that a bit of fire gonna set you off?"

The Director grunted, as he took out a pair of tonfas from his Inventory. The Devil stanced himself. Before I could see what happened, the Director was flying backwards. I couldn't see that far in the dark, but in an instant, the Director shot towards the Devil with a loud explosion.

WHACK!

BOOM!

The tonfas made contact with the Devil's Staff and exploded. The Devil flew backwards. But at the last moment he shot a jet of fire from his left hand, and stopped himself from hitting the wall. With another jet at his feet, he zoomed towards the Director.

I could only see the fire trails now in the dark. But with a roar, the Staff erupted in Acid Green flames. Then I saw it. It wasn't a Staff after all. It was a Spear! Like a corkscrew, the Spear spun as it hit the Director. He had used his tonfas to block, but the resulting explosion caused him to blast away!

The fires in the Spear got weaker and turned indigo. But the burst of fire at his feet became stronger. He shot forward, and struck the Director again. He kept on stabbing at his arms and legs and whacking his head. The Director was totally getting pounded. Just as the Devil was close to sealing his victory...

KA-BOOM!

With a huge explosion, the Devil was blown away as his jet spluttered and went out and his Spear dropped to the ground. In the dark, I couldn't see the Devil or the Director anymore. All I could see was the lit up Spear.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

With loud explosions and the blasts, I could see the Director beating the shit out of the Devil. The Devil tried to block, but was unable to. A few more hits and he would be dead. If only I could help him. If only I wasn't so useless.

"INVENTORY THE SPEAR AND TAKE IT OUT AGAIN!"

Nolan's voice rang out in the darkness. The Devil seemed to have heard it, because the Spear pixelated away instantly and reappeared at the site of explosions. It was still burning bright. With a swishing movement, the Devil slashed with an indigo trail.

"AARRRGHHHH!!!" the Director yelled out in pain. I couldn't see much but it seemed the Devil had got the game back in his hands. He swished and stabbed skillfully. It had barely been four days since the System stuff, how the heck was he so skilled already?

The Devil elegantly swerved with fire trails following his Spearhead. He leapt and used his fire skillfully to step on it as a footing for more complex moves. He kicked the Director with fire. No way, Lee could have done that. He couldn't even produce his own fire!

The Director kept throwing and blasting explosives. But it seemed not to affect the Devil anymore. He pummelled the Director nonstop, till he finally fell limp. The Devil turned off the fire on his Spear and put it back in his Inventory. Then he started messing up the Director with his bare hands. After five whole minutes of hard breathing, uncomfortable squelching and the occasional grunts, it finally stopped.

I could see the outline a bit in the flickering lights. The Devil was on the Director, with his head looking down. He then got up. He took out his Spear from Inventory. It lit up a warm red shade this time. He pointed it at me.

Now that the fight was over, I realised how vulnerable I was right now. No one said that the Devil would let us go. He might just kill me off of something. I couldn't use the System, or Inventory now as well. Just when things couldn't have been worse, he fired.

With a sizzle, my chains melted. He then aimed it at Nolan and melted out the chains as well. I immediately tried to summon my Daggers. But it failed again. I had thought that maybe the chains restricted my movements, but it seemed like I had been mistaken. Nolan rushed over to me, and stood in front of me. Then he said in a deep voice, "Who are you?"

The Devil finally came in our line of view. He peeked over Nolan's shoulder and grinned at me, "Hey kid, how ya been?"

IT WAS LEE!!

I rushed to him and hugged him tightly. Even Nolan was shocked to see him. We both began questioning him at the same time.

"Where the heck have you been for three days?"

"How did you get so powerful?"

"So you can produce fire now?"

"Did you Level up?

He smiled at us, and said, "Whoa whoa, hold ya horses man! I'll tell you everything, but first, where is Jenny?"

We explained to him the situation, about Camp Krypt, about Leo, and about the shady Counselors. Lee listened to it all quietly. He remained quiet for another minute or so. He finally spoke again.

"Let's get Jenny, and unleash Hell to this Camp Krypt!"
