Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: A Single Tree Becomes a Forest

"Alda, wake up!" Edgar felt that Alda had awakened in his arms and shook her gently, smiling. Although Alda looked like a normal person, in fact her body temperature was several degrees lower than normal, so it felt strange when held. Alda looked at Edgar and blushed slightly, burying her head in the blanket and refusing to lift it again.

"Alda, don't be shy! It's daylight!" Edgar smiled and gently brushed Alda's cool and slippery back, lifting her chin so she could look at him.

Alda let Edgar play with her, refusing to open her eyes no matter what. Edgar looked at Alda and smiled, not expecting her to be so shy. Edgar stuck out his tongue and gently licked the edge of Alda's eye socket, and his hands were not idle, fondling Alda's two mysterious peaks of pink mountains.

"Brother, don't!" Alda… "Ouch...," Alda felt Edgar's breathing becoming heavier, opened her eyes, and spoke with a hint of panic. Edgar smiled and stopped his teasing, leaning in close to Alda's ear and whispering, "Alda, were you comfortable yesterday?"

Alda felt embarrassed and couldn't bring herself to speak. However, Edgar persisted, and when Alda remained silent, he began to gently tease her again. Alda blushed and nodded shyly, whispering, "Comfortable..."

Edgar smiled and stopped teasing Alda, picking her up and saying softly, "Get dressed. We have something to do today! Oh, by the way, you have a wound, so you shouldn't come with us today!" Alda blushed and smiled shyly, nodding obediently.

"Your Highness, are you ready? Princess Alice and Lord Anthony are paying a visit!" Edgar and Alda had just put on their clothes when they heard Reno's voice gently sounding outside the door.

Edgar looked at Alda and smiled, then spoke to the outside, "I know. Let them wait in the living room, and I'll be right there."

"Prince Edward, Lord Anthony, good morning!" Edgar disregarded the etiquette, slowly walking downstairs with Alda in his arms. He looked at the living room and gently asked, "Good morning, Princess Alice and Lord Anthony."

"Good morning, Prince Edward. We apologize for the intrusion. Please don't hold it against us," Anthony was a sly fox, pretending not to see Alda in Edgar's arms, and smiled. Alice, on the other hand, was blushing, looking at Edgar in her mind and thinking, "Edgar is being too absurd! He's holding a woman to meet guests!" "It's too much trouble for you, Lord Anthony, I suppose you haven't had your meal yet," Edgar smiled and put Alda beside him, turning to Alice and Lord Anthony.

"It's a great inconvenience to trouble Your Highness!" This time, Alice spoke first. The style of food and meals in the Red Alert base was quite different from that on the mainland. After eating for a while, Alice praised the chef's skills highly. "I'm sure Princess and Lord Anthony came here for the Tree of Elves. Please rest assured, we'll take a look right away!" Edgar naturally guessed what Alice and Lord Anthony came here for, and smiled.

"Thank you, Your Highness!" Alice and Lord Anthony said, standing up and bowing.

Edgar saw this, also stood up quickly and helped them up, saying, "You don't have to do that. If you want to thank me, you should thank me after we've cured the Tree of Elves!"

Soon, the servants brought the meals over. The ingredients used in the Red Alert base were many of those grown using genetic technology, which did not exist in this world, plus the specially prepared dishes by the chefs, making the food colorful, fragrant, and delicious.

"No wonder my niece Alice didn't have breakfast and dragged me here!" Lord Anthony smiled after finishing his meal, looking at Alice.

"Are you satisfied with the food?" Edgar smiled and drank a cup of tea. Anthony took a curious bite and his eyes lit up as he enjoyed the feeling.

"Like it, Reno副官? Give the city lord some tea!" Edgar looked at Anthony's expression and smiled, instructing Reno. Anthony's eyes lit up, and he said, "Thank you, Your Highness!"

"Yes, Your Highness! The tree elves have arrived, and should we leave?" Reno smiled and nodded, looking at his communicator and asking Edgar.

"What do the princess and city lord think?" Edgar smiled and asked Alicia and Anthony.

"There is a dying elven tree outside of Jyia City, and we should go take a look, Your Highness?" Anthony thought for a moment and asked Alicia.

"Since there is a dying elven tree here, let's go take a look," Alicia nodded and agreed to Anthony's suggestion. Alicia knew that the dying elven trees were all the same, so if she knew how to treat one, she could treat the others.

"Then, Princess and City Lord, please!" Edgar didn't care either way, as the tree elves had already made a decision about the elven tree's death, and all he had to do was pretend to be confused.

Edgar, Alicia, and Anthony traveled together in a carriage towards the outskirts of the city. Edgar had never seen this much of the elven city before. However, the elven city did not give Edgar much of a surprise, as the buildings were too similar to human ones. Alice slowly explained, "Jiya City is the only city in our country that is open to humans. Humans make up a third of the population, so strictly speaking, it is not an elf city!" Edgar seemed to notice Alice's explanation, and he understood. He smiled and said, "I see why this city has this style, and why it is so different from the elves."

Suddenly, the carriage stopped, and a servant stood outside, reporting, "Princess, there is a man named Oswin who says he wants to see the prince!" Edgar was surprised. "How did Oswin get here? Did something happen? But my communication device didn't receive any information." Thinking about this, Edgar pushed open the window and said, "Let him come in!"

Oswin was still wearing a white dress. She looked at Edgar and bowed slightly, saying, "Your Highness, you shouldn't be out alone. Let the old servant accompany you together!"

Edgar was surprised. He didn't expect Oswin to come after him for this reason. He was moved in his heart. He turned to Alice and Blanche and said, "Could Oswin come with us?"

Antony was surprised. He didn't expect Edgar's subordinates to be so loyal. Antony had met Oswin yesterday and praised her knowledge and manners. He didn't expect her to be so meticulous. He looked at Oswin with approval and said, "Of course!" The carriage that Edgar made was quite different from what he had known in his previous life, in fact, it was a magic carriage. This magic carriage had a cabin as large as an armored vehicle, and various incantations were engraved on the outside of the cabin, which made the carriage ride smoothly and made the ride very comfortable.

Of course, the comfortable ride came at a high price. Magicians were considered high-end talents on the continent. According to statistics, the elf race had a 10% chance of becoming a magician, while humans had a 7% chance, and orcs had no chance of becoming magicians at all.

Moreover, being able to practice magic did not necessarily mean becoming a qualified magician. Among those with magical talent and wealth to support their studies, only about 50% could become qualified magicians. Even if they could study magic, about two-thirds of them would never break through to Level 6 and would only be able to wander around at low levels.

"We're here!" About an hour later, the carriage stopped, and Alice stretched her arms and smiled.

"What a big lake! Where's the elf tree?" Edgar got off the carriage and saw an endless lake in the distance. The lake surface was shimmering, with green mountains and clear water, blue sky and white clouds, a beautiful picture.

"Silver Moon Lake, as expected, it really lives up to its name. Let's go! When you see the elf tree, Your Highness, don't be surprised!" Alice smiled and looked at Edgar. "Surprised? Why are you surprised? The Elf Tree in the lake?" Edgar looked as Anthony walked to the lake and gently chanted a magic spell. As Anthony chanted, a clear, crisp cry sounded, and a few large birds slowly flew over.

"Chimera dragon!" Edgar looked at the huge magical beast that was slowly flying over, and quickly called out its name. The Chimera dragon was a powerful magical beast bred by the Elves. Adult Chimera dragons had a wingspan of ten meters and possessed ninth-level strength, making them one of the top air forces. In terms of strength, they were slightly stronger than Edgar's two-legged flying dragon knights.

"Let's go! The Chimera dragon is here to pick us up!" Anthony smiled and proudly looked at the Chimera dragon. The Chimera dragon was one of the Elves' most powerful weapons, along with human dragon knights and orc eagle knights, known as the three top air forces.

Edgar slowly walked towards the Chimera dragon, looking at the huge, beautiful creature with purple and blue spots. Because they were tamed Chimera dragons, their temperaments had become much more docile. On the Chimera dragon, a young Elf controlled it, waiting for everyone to board.

Edgar had never ridden on a living creature before, so he sat on the Chimera dragon curiously, looking at it like a fighter plane.

"Let's go! To Silver Moon Island!" Seeing everyone on the chimera dragon, Anthony ordered. With Anthony's order, the chimera dragon slowly rose into the air and flew towards the center of the lake.

Edgar was not entirely unfamiliar with flying, having flown around the world in various planes since the establishment of the Red Alert base. But riding a creature like this was still a first for him, and he found it quite novel. At the same time, Edgar was thinking, "Should I not have a two-legged flying dragon specifically trained as my mount?"

"Hmm, this is the Silver Moon Island?" Edgar soon saw a small island in the center of the lake. The island was not very large, but it was covered in lush trees and had many birds flying around. There were also faint movements of creatures in the forest. The two-legged flying dragon did not stop, and flew straight to the center of the island, landing on a large tree trunk.

"Where is this?" Edgar was confused, as they were not supposed to be here to cure the ancient tree, but now they were here.

"This is the Silver Moon Island, a food production base! Twenty percent of the food in Ziya City comes from this small island, but the ancient tree is withering!" Anthony sighed and slowly explained.

"And the ancient tree?" Edgar frowned, as there didn't seem to be any ancient trees around.

"Hehe" Alice smiled and looked at Edgar, saying, "You don't know, do you? This island is an ancient tree!" "We are on the Elven Tree now!"

Edgar was momentarily stunned. The entire island was a single Elven Tree, and it was too huge! He had heard in his previous life that banyan trees could grow into forests from a single trunk. He never thought that the Elven Tree was even more powerful than the banyan tree.
