Chapter 4 - Chapter 4, Onyx Fortuity, Slowly Shredded

In that instant, the palace was overfilled with silence.

[Showing off in front of me? You're a century too young to do that.] Simply shaking his head, Gu Changge uttered not a word. In a garment paler than the snow, he rested his hands behind his back, and his eyes were ever so petrifying, as if he was glaring at a struggling bug. Kneeling at his feet was the miserable Ye Chen, whose blanched face was cramped with reluctance. His body was drenched in cold sweat, and he couldn't even lift his head.

Meanwhile, every single soul was dazed by what just happened before them, and those who had a certain understanding regarding Gu Changge were more astounded than the rest. After all, in spite of their age, the power gap between Gu Changge and the Archbishop was barely noticeable. In fact, his capabilities were no lesser than anyone on the Archbishop-level.

"Prince Gu, your power is truly incredible at your age." At that moment, the Archbishop intuitively praised as he shot a glance at his nervous daughter before subtly heaving a sigh. [I should have drawn this meddlesome burden Ye Chen out of the Sect when I had the chance, or else he wouldn't have gotten to offend Prince Gu.] That was when the Archbishop decided Ye Chen's fate.

"You are too kind, Archbishop. What I possess is hardly mentionable." Hearing that, Gu Changge smiled. His intonation, as calm as a millpond, sounded as if he was God speaking to a mere human. Despite saying that, he did not have any regards for the Archbishop's compliment. After all, he was a celebrated figure sent forth from Eastern Barren, and even in the Beyond, he was perceived as an honored young champion. His strength was immense and not to be trifled with by ordinary men. As to defeating Ye Chen, who derived pleasure from proving the strong wrong, all Gu Changge needed to do was to taunt the old man in Ye Chen's ring to the extent where he would be too pressurized to show himself. Without the old man's assistance, Ye Chen was left vulnerable.

Nevertheless, Gu Changge didn't come from Eastern Barren without a Guardian. In fact, it was his Guardian, whom he summoned upon, that subdued the Cursed Spirit in Ye Chen's ring. And now, it appeared things developed according to his prediction. As such, slaughtering the Fortuitous One could not be any easier. [He must be shocked and panicking right now, wondering why the Master he has always depended on wouldn't respond to his call.] Although Gu Changge's face was neutral, he was laughing at Ye Chen in his heart.

"How embarrassing of me to have let Prince Gu himself settle the battle." With that, Chu Xuan, Supreme Stygian's Saint, expressed his remorse, realizing his defeat would be followed by a demotion.

Naturally, Gu Changge did not blame him. Instead, he revealed a generous smile and stated, "Do not take it to heart, Saint Chu Xuan. It is only right that I handle this myself, for I am the root of the ferment."

"Your Highness, forgive me for my incompetence."

Just as he expected, his words left Chu Xuan flabbergasted, invigorating the Saint's admiration for him. Upon his ornamented words, the crowd was also impressed as their eyes were glowing with respect. Be it mannerism or skills, there was nothing simple about the young man. Though, 'simple' might be an understatement, due to the fact that he was exceptionally unpredictable.

"Prince Gu is too strong. He's like God among men. He could amaze me with just a heave of air."

"And here I thought that I, the Archbishop, having amassed a decamillenium of mentoring experience and made my way around the world more than a thousand times, was above all men. But having Prince Gu here allowed me a glimpse at the boundaryless universe."

At the same time, all of the elders agreed with the Archbishop, all while donning their pleasing faces. At their gratifying looks, the powerful guests were left thoroughly stupefied as they grew even more curious as to the identity of the mysterious man. Apparently, Supreme Stygian Holy Land, one of the Six Greatest Holy Land of Eastern Barren, had been worshiping the young man behind the scenes. Consequently, the guests realized that that would only mean imperilment to the force backing them.

[Being the bad guy is the best! With all these bootlickers, I don't even need to clean my shoes anymore! Unlike the protagonist who gets shamed everywhere he goes,] Gu Changge wordlessly pondered.

Of course, his communication system played a huge role in his triumph. As a transmigrator, possessing a Gold Finger was essential. His Gold Finger, similar to video game interfaces from his previous world, outlined his personal information. And by altering the destiny of the protagonist, he could earn himself some Fatums, which, like any currency, served countless purposes. Not only could Fatums be spent to acquire various Spells, but they could also be exchanged for numerous Talents, Bloodline, and more. Furthermore, Fatums could even be used to reinforce owned Talents. Basically, the Gold Finger's functions were only limited by his imagination as they exceeded Gu Changge's creativity.

[System.] At that moment, Gu Changge called out in his heart, allowing himself to view the system interface.

Identity: Direct Disciple of Skyward Schloss

Bloodline: Demonic Heart, Daoist Bone

Level: Peak Honoured Noble Realm

Spells: Skyward Ascension, Demonization, Nommening…

Fatums: 50

Fortuity: 30 (Onyx)

System Shop: Unavailable>

The interface was simple, but every necessary detail was laid out. The fifty Fatums in the system were gained from defeating Ye Chen earlier.

[System, what happens if I kill off Ye Chen right now?] Gu Changge quizzed internally.

[Figures.] Gu Changge shook his head as he cussed in his head. [Goddamn it! Which dumbass set the system up? What shitty rule is that? Tsk. With such talents and background, my Fortuity is only thirty? And hell, they're all Onyx! Look at Ye Chen. He's literally half dead yet he still has hundreds of Fortuity!]

According to the system, Fortuity was divided into seven levels—Garnet, Carnelian, Citrine, Peridot, Zircon, Tanzanite, and Amethyst. While most users possessed Garnet Fortuity, Ye Chen had already achieved Peridot Fortuity, which possibly meant that possessing Onyx Fortuity might bring Misfortune.

the system clarified.

[Misfortune and Negative Fortuity at the same time? What, so I might choke myself sipping tea, or get struck by lightning whenever I take a stroll? Huh, it seems I'll have to take my time to kill the Fortuitous One while gradually diminishing his Fortuity to the lowest. But I reckon it'll still be interesting to slowly shred the ant to atoms.]

Gu Changge remained expressionless, while his heart was already rapidly interacting with the Gold Finger's system.
