Chapter 8 - Statue and Lilith

After finishing the book, Cain mastered a common and fundamental spell called 'scan'. Its primary function is straightforward: to assess one's attributes and represent them as numerical values, where 1 signifies the average attribute level for an adult devil commoner.

The average value for rank 0 is 10, because of his young age Cain physique is still 5. Conversely, his mental power is an astonishing 15 due to his exceptional talent.

'Even though my physique is pretty low, it won't affect my fighting ability if I focus on spells,' Cain thought to himself after reviewing his attributes. 'To learn spells, I first need to improve my ether control. Despite the book being detailed, there are many things that I didn't understand. I should ask father to find me a teacher.'

With that decision made, he promptly left the library and headed straight to the great hall to search for his father.

On his way, Cain met Steward Douglas, the archdevil specialized in hand-to-hand combat. Douglas, known for his prowess in fistfighting, also held the main responsibility of supervising the servants of the Aatrox family. Cain asked promptly, "Good evening, Mr. Douglas. I have something to discuss with Father. Can you tell me his location?"

"The lord has an important meeting with the elders. You can wait for him in the study, he will be there shortly," replied Douglas courteously.

Cain nodded and went directly to the study. Half an hour later, Lord Mephisto entered with a tired expression on his face and asked, "Cain, Steward Douglas told me about you. What's the matter?"

"Father, recently I reached the apprentice rank. I didn't have time to tell you due to the assassination," Cain stated calmly. "I want to start learning magic, but I've found it hard to understand many things, so I wanted to find someone to teach me."

"Oh, you've already reached the apprentice rank? That's quite fast. How about this: Lilith doesn't have any urgent tasks this period; she can be your teacher," exclaimed Lord Mephisto with a smile on his face.

Cain didn't object. he thanked his father and quietly left the room.

It didn't take long for him to find his sister, she was sitting by the pool in the backyard. With her violet hair and pointed ears, she looked enchanting. In noble families, to maintain the purity of their bloodlines marriages between siblings were the norm. With Felix out of the equation, it seemed almost certain that Lilith would become his wife.

"Sister," Cain greeted her calmly, "Father told me that you will be my mentor in magic, so I came to ask you: when do we start?"

"Darling, you don't have to be so formal with me. After all, sooner or later, we'll be married," Lilith exclaimed seductively.

Cain's face showed a hint of red, and he replied shyly, "We're not married yet, so I think we should maintain some distance."

Lilith suddenly stood up came closer to him and said"As your teacher i should be the one deciding how to converse understood?"

Lilith suddenly stood up, moved closer to him, and asserted, "As your teacher, I should be the one deciding how we converse, understood?"

Cain hesitated for a moment before nodding and replied, "Understood."

"It's decided. Your first lesson is to enjoy some quality time with me. I'll begin your magic lessons when I'm satisfied," Lilith declared with a mischievous smile.

He looked a little bit wronged, but didn't object, knowing that sooner or later he would have to open up to her.

"I'm really glad I ended up with you. That idiot Felix was completely untalented. Was I supposed to spend the rest of my life taking care of him?" Lilith exclaimed with a hint of disdain at the mention of Felix.

Even though Cain was way weaker than her, due to his talent it won't take long for him to catch up to her. Felix on the other hand have little to no hope to reach the fourth rank before her if he even reached it.

Even though Cain was significantly weaker than her, his talent meant that it wouldn't take long for him to catch up. In contrast, Felix had little to no hope of reaching the fourth rank before Lilith, if he managed to reach it at all.

Lilith, like all devil nobles, was naturally arrogant and avoided befriending those she deemed unworthy. Her playful attitude towards Cain stemmed primarily from his talent and their destined marriage.

After some thought, Cain asked, "When do you think we should have our marriage?"

"Well, it was decided by the family that it will be after your graduation. So if you want to have me sooner, you should hurry and advance faster," Lilith replied teasingly, her playful tone contrasting with the seriousness of the topic.

To graduate from the royal academy, you have to reach the first rank, no matter how long it takes. However, reaching the age of a hundred without a breakthrough will result in expulsion.

"Oh, so when will I be leaving, then?" Cain asked, curious about the timeline for his departure.

"Usually, the academy only takes devils between the ages of fifteen and twenty. Considering your talent, I think it will be after your fifteenth birthday," explained Lilith.

After spending the evening with Lilith, Cain returned to his room to rest, eagerly anticipating tomorrow's lessons. Lilith had promised they would start lessons in the morning.
