George was terrified by Little Xiahua's words.
Human traffickers?
Police?
Mom and Dad?
Seeing George frozen, speechless, with his mouth agape and his eyes wide, Little Xiahua was frightened too.
She jumped off the bed and dashed out without looking back, "Daddy! Daddy! George is feeling unwell, George is feeling unwell!"
The child's voice reached the dining room.
Song Zhen and the others stood up immediately and hurried toward George's room.
Gu Xinzhou, disregarding everything else, rushed in and anxiously stared at the bed, looking at the tiny figure huddled there.
Qi Lei was standing at the bedside when Shen Shiqing came in and nudged Qi Lei aside.
On the other side, Song Zhen took George's small hand and looked down at him intently.
About thirty seconds of diagnosis passed.
Shen Shiqing let out a sigh of relief, turned to Little Xiahua, and then to Song Zhen and Gu Xinzhou, "Children say the darndest things. George is fine."
Hearing this, Song Zhen and Gu Xinzhou both breathed a sigh of relief.
Qi Lei quickly straightened up, "Boss, my apologies, it was my fault for not keeping a close eye on Little Xiahua. She spouted nonsense and disturbed you all."
"It's okay." Song Zhen sat by the bed and gently rubbed George's forehead, "What were you thinking? You were so still, you scared Little Xiahua, you know?"
George looked up dully at Song Zhen.
He didn't say a word but reached out with his small hand and tightly hugged Song Zhen's arm.
Song Zhen's heart melted, the feeling of being needed by his son was wonderful.
He gently admonished, "Did you eat your fill just now?"
George nodded, his gaze swept over everyone in the room and finally settled on Gu Xinzhou's face.
He looked deeply at Gu Xinzhou, then silently lowered his head without speaking.
Song Zhen felt a twinge of pain. The child had retreated into his somewhat autistic shell again.
He tentatively asked, "Do you want Little Xiahua to stay and play with you?"
George nodded, "Yes."
Song Zhen had something to explain to Gu Xinzhou regarding Youyang and patted the child's hand, "Then let Little Xiahua play with you today, uncle has some work to do. I'll be busy for a while, but I'll come back to have lunch with you later, okay?"
George nodded, "Okay."
Song Zhen continued, "You must be a good boy and cooperate with Doctor Shen for your injection and medicine, okay?"
George obediently nodded again, "Okay."
Song Zhen always felt there was something odd about the child, yet he couldn't quite pinpoint what it was.
He bent down and kissed the child's forehead, "George, I love you!"
George's little face turned rosy, he looked at Song Zhen adoringly, excitedly, and joyfully. For a moment, Song Zhen thought George resembled McDull.
But then, George and McDull had fundamentally different personalities.
After giving some instructions, Song Zhen took Gu Xinzhou's hand and left the room.
Shen Shiqing went to prepare the medical tray, while Qi Lei approached Doctor Li, "Doctor Li, the Boss has asked me to drive you back. You have ten minutes to pack your belongings. Is that enough time?"
Doctor Li's face turned pale, "What?"
"I am merely following the Boss's orders," Qi Lei stated expressionlessly. "It appears that there is no longer a need for you to stay here."
Shen Shiqing glanced at Doctor Li inconspicuously while carrying the medical tray over to George.
He had thought he would have to persuade George to undress again today.
But George actually undressed himself, revealing his skinny chest and the wound on his stomach, cooperating willingly in an incredibly well-behaved manner.
Little Xiahua covered her eyes, calling out anxiously, "George! Dad, Daddy~ what do we do? I saw George's body. Should I take responsibility for him?"
