Chapter 318 - 318, gentle and cherished

Heaven knew the moment that little figure groped his way down the stairs in the dark.

Song Zhen's heart... it was just like riding a roller coaster!

The child was panicking, and so was he!

Fortunately, the child was clever about it, slowly crawling down the steps along the edge of the wall, and even sitting down to do it, his little bottom touching down from one step to the next, stable and steady.

Song Zhen took the empty cup McDull had drunk from, gently wiped his mouth, and asked, "Why do you want to see George?"

McDull looked at Song Zhen, his eyes slightly anxious: "Because George is too pitiful, I want to tell him not to be afraid! He's not alone now, he has me, and he has daddy and mommy, he's home! I want to tell him, I didn't have a daddy before either, but now I do, just like he didn't have a daddy and mommy before, and now he does, our family is finally reunited, I hope he can live happily like me!"

McDull's clear gaze appeared immensely precious in Song Zhen's eyes.

Song Zhen and George had also spent many days together.

But...

George's gaze was identical to his, deep and boundless, like the stars and the ocean, elusive in revealing his true thoughts.

Song Zhen was a man of meticulous thoughts, he had achieved much today, and he lived a weary life.

But he was clear that the reason for his personality was fate.

However, Song Zhen never complained of tiredness, never grumbled.

He believed that a man should stand tall and suffer in silence.

So facing George, Song Zhen felt especially heartbroken.

He was afraid that George would become a person as weary as he was.

Yet he could not alter the fate that had already shaped George, just as fate's tricks had already left marks on George's spirit.

These past few days, what he had thought about the most was the same as Gu Xinzhou: if only time could flow backward...

Song Zhen hugged McDull, kissing McDull's forehead.

How he wished George could be like McDull—positive, sunny, optimistic, strong.

He spoke gently and preciously: "Darling, your mommy has raised you well, you have a heart of gold."

McDull wrapped his arms around Song Zhen's shoulders, asking, "Can I go see George?"

Song Zhen seriously sought McDull's opinion: "You can, but let's not wake him, he just had surgery, he is hurting, let's wait until his body is better and then you can have a chat, alright?"

McDull's eyes showed a hint of disappointment.

He had braved the darkness to come and encourage George.

But now, could he only secretly glimpse at George?

Biting his lip, he nodded vigorously: "Okay! George's health is most important, I won't disturb his rest."

Song Zhen laughed softly: "Good boy!"

He carried McDull gently towards the room where George was.

When he opened the door, the room, like Gu Xinzhou's, was lit by a small bedside lamp casting a warm, sweet dream.

McDull stared unblinkingly at the person on the bed.

He began to squirm with all his limbs as Song Zhen gently put him down on the floor: "Gently, don't wake him."

McDull cautiously moved forward and leaned over the bed, intently examining the frail little face.

Although everyone said that they were twins, that they looked exactly alike.

McDull couldn't see it.

Because his face was round, his skin was fair, while George's chin was pointed, his skin slightly yellow.

"They don't look alike." McDull peered up at Song Zhen, puzzled: "Is he really George?"

Song Zhen's eyes welled up as he came behind McDull and sat by the bed, gazing at George: "Yes, that's George, he is your brother, just, he's too skinny."
