McDull had fallen asleep in the warm embrace of Gu Xinzhou.
The night grew deeper, yet Gu Xinzhou had not a trace of sleepiness.
She got out of bed, walked over to the desk, and took Song Zhen's fountain pen and some paper, beginning to write a pledge.
After two beginnings, neither of which she was satisfied with, she tore them up.
Suddenly, the door opened.
Gu Xinzhou looked up in surprise to find Song Zhen walking in.
Song Zhen seemed just as surprised that she had not gone to sleep yet. Seeing her sitting at the desk holding a pen, his expression grew more serious, "Not sleeping yet?"
Gu Xinzhou awkwardly set down the pen, her gaze falling on the shredded paper, hoping he wouldn't notice.
Song Zhen went in and took out pajamas from the wardrobe and proceeded to the restroom.
Gu Xinzhou sat there, listening to the pattering sound of water in the bathroom, feeling her face grow inexplicably hot.
She ruffled her hair irritably.
After all, tonight was supposed to be her new wedding night with Song Zhen—the bed was meant for consummation.
But...
McDull was lying on the big bed like a little pig.
Gu Xinzhou rubbed her temples and picked up the pen again, starting to write.
After Song Zhen finished his bath, he saw Gu Xinzhou standing upright in front of him, offering a piece of paper with both hands, her tone earnest, "A pledge!"
Song Zhen glanced at her and took it.
More than five hundred words, all written quite profoundly.
The gist was that she would no longer act alone behind his back, much less act with the child.
Song Zhen's original intention was for her to learn this lesson.
However angry he might have been, he couldn't bear to see her wronged or hurt; hence, he had never raised his voice to her, let alone hit her.
Seeing that she had indeed written a pledge, he also felt more at ease, "Alright, go to sleep. I'm going to keep George company downstairs."
Gu Xinzhou saw that his tone had softened a lot, and knew he was no longer angry. She grinned and came closer, "George is asleep, right? May I keep him company? He won't see me if he's asleep, he won't resist!"
Her flattering face was right in front of him, beautiful and compelling, emitting bursts of fragrance.
This scent was the same as on Song Zhen's body.
He raised an eyebrow, a bit uncertainly asking, "Did you use my shower gel?"
Gu Xinzhou blinked, "Uh, it's just shower gel, what's wrong with that?"
The tips of Song Zhen's ears turned red as he asked, "Didn't I have someone prepare both ladies' and children's shower gels for you and McDull?"
What to do, should he tell her?
His shower gel, after their reunion, was specially brought back from abroad, a product that could enhance a man's capabilities in a certain aspect.
Although, so far, he had no opportunity to prove his prowess.
But, he was always ready, devoted to the cause of a harmonious and happy married life.
Gu Xinzhou had no idea about any of this.
She shrugged, "I gave the children's one to McDull. Is the pink one for ladies? I didn't open it. Your old shower gel isn't finished yet; wouldn't it be wasteful to open a new one?"
Song Zhen looked at her uncertainly, swallowing hard, "Well, but, cough cough, don't use mine anymore, after all, there are differences between men and women."
Gu Xinzhou couldn't fathom Song Zhen's complex thoughts.
Shower gel, in her eyes, was just a trivial interlude.
She took hold of him, asking, "How's George? I heard him crying earlier, why was he crying?"
"McDull had just arrived today, and his voice carried into the room. George asked me who it was, and I told him that this was the child I have with you. Then he became very downcast, unhappy," Song Zhen sighed lightly, struggling to shift his gaze away from the neckline of Gu Xinzhou's pajamas.
