Gu Xinzhou's lips were swollen as he stared blankly at Song Zhen.
Qi Lei had already caught up, holding the panicked McDull, who wore a scarf that covered his little face, but his eyes were wet with tears, and the scarf was stained with tear marks.
McDull had been terrified when Song Zhen rushed out earlier.
With mommy not around, his only family was daddy, and what would he do if daddy ran off too?
Song Zhen took McDull from Qi Lei and opened the car door.
As soon as McDull saw Gu Xinzhou, the tears he had stopped began to fall again, and he reached out towards Gu Xinzhou, "Mommy, waaaah~ Mommy~"
Gu Xinzhou caught his son, and seeing him cry like this, felt a pang in his heart as he tenderly consoled, "Good boy, don't cry, stop crying, mommy's here."
Song Zhen wanted Gu Xinzhou to move in a bit.
He wanted to sit inside as well.
But Gu Xinzhou simply wouldn't budge, caring for McDull in her arms and acting as if she didn't see him.
Song Zhen had no choice but to walk around to the other side to open the door.
But, it wouldn't open.
Qi Lei apparently had discussed something with the cab driver, who, grinning widely, got out of the car, yielding the driver's seat.
Seeing that Song Zhen couldn't open the door, the driver said with a sycophantic smile, "This door is sealed shut, it won't open, please get in from the other side!"
Song Zhen narrowed his eyes, looking at the position of the driver's seat.
Qi Lei was bending down to get in, knowing that the boss, his wife, and the Young Master were all going to take this car home, as only this would minimize the impact.
Because Song Zhen had run too quickly earlier, many people had not seen his face clearly, only thinking he looked like a tycoon. But if he walked back slowly, that definitely wouldn't do.
Suddenly, someone grabbed the back of his clothes.
Qi Lei stiffly stopped his move into the driver's seat and looked back in surprise at Song Zhen.
Song Zhen gently pushed him aside, "I'll drive!"
Qi Lei: "..."
Song Zhen got into the driver's seat, fastened the seat belt immediately, and closed the door.
Qi Lei walked around the front of the car, trying to open the passenger side door, only to find it was locked.
Song Zhen rolled down the window on that side, complaining wordlessly, "We three are going home as a family, what are you meddling for!"
Qi Lei: "But..."
Just then, the traffic jam they were in started to clear up.
Song Zhen ignored Qi Lei, rolled up the window, started the engine, and began to move slowly with the flow of traffic.
McDull had been scared, clutching tightly around Gu Xinzhou's neck, softly sobbing.
But when he heard the door close, he saw daddy actually get into the car.
He looked on curiously, silent, and gradually stopped crying.
Gu Xinzhou hadn't expected Song Zhen to do so many out-of-character things either; she watched his figure and felt a mix of emotions.
The atmosphere in the car was incredibly awkward all the way.
This was not the outcome Song Zhen had wanted.
He cleared his throat and said, "Let's listen to some music!"
He turned on the radio, and the voice of Fish Leong was singing, "Be happy with your parting, I hope you can be joyful, you can find someone better..."
Song Zhen grimaced and changed the channel, only to hear, "Qiangda Kidney Treasure, reclaim your male dignity, leave those three-minute woes behind..."
Song Zhen turned off the radio straight away!
His face couldn't get any darker!
The atmosphere in the car became even more awkward...
As they finally came off the elevated road, Gu Xinzhou broke the silence with a warm question, "McDull, did you have fun last night? Was Little Xiahua pretty?"
"Fun! Pretty!" McDull seized the moment and quickly said, "Mommy, I want to go to the same kindergarten as Little Xiahua, daddy agreed, and mommy, please agree too, okay?"
