Gu Xinzhou left elegantly.
Gu Yibo was still worried. He walked to the window and watched as Gu Xinzhou left the courtyard on her own, without using the RV that Song Zhen had left for her. He knew for sure she wanted to keep a low profile and take a taxi instead.
"Yibo, stop looking. Zhouzhou is an adult now; you've got to give her some space to do her own thing. Look at how well she did in Italy, right?"
Lan Baozhen looked at Gu Yibo's back with amusement.
She felt relieved in her heart.
Because her granddaughter hadn't given up on striving even after finding a global tycoon as a partner, nor had she indulged in luxury just because she had a boss dad who doted on her.
A woman should have her own career and dreams, after all.
Sadly, Lan Baozhen only realized this truth in her middle age.
If she had understood early enough to forge her own career, she could have earned money to support the family when her husband's business faced a crisis. She could have given him a chance for a comeback, instead of the whole family having to live in embarrassing retreat in the countryside.
Gu Yibo turned around, looked at Lan Baozhen, and sighed, "Mom, I just feel like I owe Zhouzhou so much that no matter what I do, it's never enough. That's why I'm always trying to find any way to do something more for her."
Lan Baozhen waved her hand and reassured him with a smile, and herself as well, "Let's not talk about the past. A wise person should grasp the present and cherish what's in front of them."
The TV station.
Gu Xinzhou reported her name at the reception, and the young man found her on the audition list and let her in.
The audition was scheduled to take place in a multimedia office in the north building, as agreed.
Walking there, Gu Xinzhou found the corridor outside the office packed with young and beautiful ladies standing around.
Like her, they were holding audition forms in their hands.
Gu Xinzhou didn't take the time to look at anyone closely.
She quietly walked to the chairs, found an empty seat, and sat down.
All of the other young ladies were too restless to sit, but she remained seated, seemingly oblivious to the peculiarity, resting with her eyes closed.
Soon, whispers from the other ladies reached her ears—
"Oh my god, is she here for a model casting?"
"Auditioning to be a star, perhaps?"
"She's just too gorgeous, isn't she? Every move she makes is effortlessly elegant, beautiful, and even has a touch of coolness!"
"Who is she? I've never seen her before."
"Me neither."
Gu Xinzhou opened her eyes and realized everyone was looking at her. She nodded politely as a greeting, then turned her head away.
In fact...
Her presence at the audition was purely experimental!
Because the TV station in City B had announced that today they were auditioning for entertainment show hosts, while next week was the audition for a news anchor, which was her field of expertise.
Gu Xinzhou had no experience with auditions in China.
So today was just a trial run to understand the domestic audition process for a news anchor.
Having had this experience today, she would be prepared for the main event next week.
That's why all the other ladies were nervous, while Gu Xinzhou seemed utterly relaxed and at ease.
"Number 18, Gu Xinzhou!"
"Here!"
When called, Gu Xinzhou immediately stood up and crossed the room to enter the multimedia office.
There were four interviewers in total.
One was Jiang Cheng, the most popular entertainment show host in the country, a thirty-something bachelor.
Another was the vice-dean of the City B Art Academy, there to help assess the talent of the interviewees.
The remaining two were senior leaders from behind the scenes at the TV station.
