Gu Xinzhou stood in front of the suite and pressed the doorbell.
It took a while before dragging footsteps could be heard inside.
Cassie peeked through the peephole, and upon seeing her, immediately exclaimed, "Wait a second! Xiaozhou, wait a second!"
Gu Xinzhou: "..."
That wait turned out to be a full ten minutes or so.
When Cassie reopened the door, the air was filled with a faint scent of shower gel.
Dressed neatly and looking dashing, Cassie stood opposite her and smiled at her like a gentleman, "Good morning, beautiful miss!"
Gu Xinzhou couldn't help but laugh and cry, "Did you just go to freshen up and change clothes?"
A flicker of embarrassment crossed Cassie's handsome face.
He remembered that Gu Yibo had told him he would be arranging a meeting with Gu Xinzhou today.
Moreover, after her heart condition had acted up last night, Cassie didn't expect her to come over early in the morning at all.
But seeing her standing before him, safe and sound, felt really good.
Standing up straight, Cassie's hands seemed to have nowhere to go, his eyes fixed on her warmly, and a fresh smile spread across his lips, "A man should always make himself presentable for the lady he wishes to please!"
Having said that, he mustered the courage to pull Gu Xinzhou over to him.
He observed her carefully, "How's your health?"
You fainted last night, that must have scared you, right?" Gu Xinzhou raised her hand to tidy up some stray hair by her ear.
She hadn't dared to lock eyes with Cassie from such a close distance.
She always felt that her messy self appearing in his clear eyes would be a form of pollution to the good Cassie.
What's more embarrassing for her was the exposure of her illegitimate daughter status.
Now that Cassie is her best friend, what would he think of her?
Cassie's eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Fainted?
His clear eyes flickered with a soft, uncertain light.
He then laughed lightly, "Yeah, you suddenly passing out really did frighten me."
Silence.
His gaze was too intense, and Gu Xinzhou had no choice but to look down and walk away, "I'm going to check on McDull."
"He's adjusting to the jet lag."
"I know, I'll go see him."
It was eight thirty in China right now, which corresponded to two thirty in the morning in Italy.
For the past four years, McDull was deep in sleep at this time.
However, Cassie didn't want to be far from her, for fear that walking too far would lead to losing each other.
Thick-faced, he followed closely, and remembering her stomach was not in good conditions, he tenderly asked, "Are you hungry? I can have someone bring up breakfast."
"I've eaten already," said Gu Xinzhou, already at the bedroom door.
She saw McDull in little pajamas, wrapped up in a white blanket, looking like an unblemished little angel.
Gu Xinzhou's heart melted.
And so, she sat quietly at the bedside, watching him without blinking.
She couldn't get enough.
Cassie quietly kept her company.
Gu Xinzhou turned around to look at him, "Do you want to sleep for a while?"
Cassie shook his head, "I'm full of energy!"
Gu Xinzhou's eyes shifted, and tilting her head, she asked, "Then... will you accompany me to a place?"
Cassie: "Sure!"
Insisting, Gu Xinzhou had Cassie call for breakfast, and after eating their fill, packed some for McDull as well.
The three of them got into the car.
Cassie sat in the driver's seat, Gu Xinzhou in the passenger seat, and McDull lay across the entire back row, continuing his profound sleep.
Gu Xinzhou set up the navigation and said with a smile, "Drive slowly."
Cassie laughed, "I'll be very careful, and drive slowly."
He looked at Gu Xinzhou next to him, then at the little guy deep in slumber in the back seat, feeling a joy like taking his wife and child out for a drive.
