Su Xiaoyue pushed her electric bike with difficulty, as she couldn't see clearly now. There were many vehicles in the school, and some students still lingered on campus - she was afraid she might accidentally bump into someone. Finally, she managed to push her bike into the school, and after she straddled it, she pushed up the glasses on her nose, squinting her eyes into slits. But the road ahead still looked blurry.
Today had been really tough for her, without her glasses, she was only slightly better off than a blind person.
The several boxes of glasses that Fan Mingyu had given her were all tied with a strap to the back seat of her bike; she planned on returning the boxes to the eyeglass store when she went to get her glasses fitted.
"Teacher Su."
Someone called her from not too far away, with an extremely unfamiliar voice.
Su Xiaoyue looked towards the source of the voice and saw a car parked there with a man standing next to it, seemingly waiting for someone. Thinking he was a student's parent, Su Xiaoyue instinctively smiled, nodded at him as a response to his greeting. In fact, she had no idea who the person was.
The man walked toward Su Xiaoyue; he was holding something in his hand, something black. Su Xiaoyue couldn't even make out his features, let alone what he was holding.
"Teacher Su, our president asked me to bring you something." The man approached Su Xiaoyue and handed her a small black box from his hand.
Su Xiaoyue was momentarily stunned and asked, "Sir, may I ask who your president is?"
The man replied with a smile, "Teacher Su, our president is President Fan from Sanyang Group, my name is Song, I'm President Fan's driver."
Fan Shaoming?
That arrogant man sent his driver to give her something? What was it?
Su Xiaoyue took the small black box which was long and indeed looked like an eyeglass case. She brought it closer and squinted her eyes for a better look, realizing it truly was an eyeglass case. Curious, she opened the case and found a pair of glasses inside, along with a small note.
She unfolded the small note, and there were only a few flamboyant characters written on it: "Plain glasses are useless to you!"
Fan Shaoming knew her glasses were non-prescription, so what about the glasses he sent? Su Xiaoyue took the glasses that Fan Shaoming had someone send over and replaced her own on her nose - the world in front of her immediately became clear.
"Teacher Su, I've completed my task. I'll be leaving now, the president is waiting for me to drive him home."
After Su Xiaoyue put on the glasses the secretary helped her pick out on Fan Shaoming's instructions, the driver told her goodbye and turned to leave.
"Mr. Song." Su Xiaoyue quickly called out to the driver, and when he stopped, she asked, "Mr. Song, is President Fan going home for dinner?"
"Our CEO comes home to have dinner with the young master every night, but he only has half an hour as he has to entertain guests at night and is equally busy. Does Ms. Su have any other questions?"
Coming home every night to have dinner with his son is something Fan Shaoming does quite well, despite it only being half an hour... Is he squeezing out time for his son because he's really that busy?
Su Xiaoyue smiled and said, "I need to make a home visit and was worried Mr. Fan might not be at home, so I was just asking."
The driver uttered an "oh" and then reminded Su Xiaoyue, "Ms. Su, if you want to make a home visit, you should go now, or you'll miss him. I'm on my way to pick up the CEO from work. He normally stays at Longting Garden, and only goes back to Lushui Mountain Villa for a couple of nights over the weekend. The drive from the company to Longting Garden takes about ten minutes. If Ms. Su rides an electric bike, it will take around forty minutes from the school to there. Ms. Su, if you hurry, you should be able to catch him."
Su Xiaoyue quickly thanked the driver for the reminder.
Turning her head to look at the boxes tied up high behind her bike, she had originally planned to return these glasses before making a home visit to the Fan Family. Now it seemed she would have to bring these boxes with her to the Fan's.
With that thought, Su Xiaoyue immediately started her bike and rushed towards Longting Garden, hoping to catch Fan Shaoming before he left.
Other parents were hoping for a teacher's home visit. She took the initiative and wanted to communicate with Fan Shaoming, yet he was acting all high and mighty, as if trying to dismiss her with a simple "I'm not available."
If Fan Mingyu's mistakes weren't corrected, they would snowball and grow out of control. Su Xiaoyue didn't want to watch such a bright child be ruined by a father who seemed responsible but in reality, wasn't.
Su Xiaoyue had ridden less than two hundred meters when a BMW blocked her way crabwise, forcing her to make an emergency stop.
The car door opened, and a young woman came out. She was beautiful with a tall and slender figure, wavy long hair, wearing high heels, strutting with her hips, and carrying her chin high as she approached Su Xiaoyue. She looked at Su Xiaoyue with distaste and said coldly, "Dad asked me to find you."
Su Xiaoyue looked at her indifferently and replied just as coldly, "What could I possibly have that would make him send you to find me."
The woman sneered, "Right, you're not worth much. Dad said someone is investigating you. You'd better keep your mouth shut, otherwise..." She didn't finish her sentence, just ended it with a cold laugh, which carried a warning.
Su Xiaoyue's expression chilled. She stared at the woman before her and said coldly, "Is he scared? Scared that what he's done will come to light? He can feel fear too? What nonsense have I talked? Did I ever have the right to speak over these past years, or else what? Drug me? Have someone cut me down? Or drive me crazy before killing me?"
"Su Xiaoyue, I've delivered the message Dad asked me to bring. Do whatever you want, it's none of my business; I'd love to see you spout nonsense. When Dad gets angry enough to do this to you..." She made a throat-slitting gesture, implying that if Su Xiaoyue dared to spout nonsense or reveal even a hint of her identity, her father would have her killed to silence her.
Su Xiaoyue snorted coldly, "You'll be disappointed to hear that I won't give up my life easily. Go back and tell him that I will never forgive what he did to my mother in this lifetime, and one day, I will make your whole family pay for what you've done!"
Upon hearing this, the woman laughed mockingly and then taunted Su Xiaoyue, "Forgive? Dad has never been afraid of your hatred. In his heart, you're just a pawn. Actually, you should hate yourself, not Dad, because you're the one who made his plan succeed. As for us paying, sure, we'll see if you have what it takes. My whole family will wait. Su Xiaoyue, remember your status, you're just a minor preschool teacher. If my older brother hadn't taken pity on you and pleaded on your behalf, you couldn't even secure that status. Keep this in mind, watch your behavior, and stay away from those you shouldn't mess with!"
