"Take it off!"
Han Yingying's delicate little face turned a shade of crimson, her petulant and domineering command accompanied by the occasional hiccup.
"You're drunk," Shen Mosheng struggled to maintain his sanity as he reminded her.
In fact, it wasn't much better for him, as it was his first time drinking as well.
"I'm not drunk, I'm very sober. Hurry up and take it off, or I'll tear your clothes...hic...to pieces!"
As she spoke, Han Yingying patted Shen Mosheng's chiseled face, chuckling mischievously between hiccups.
"Even if you shout your throat hoarse, no one will come to save you. Just be good, and I promise I'll take good care...hic..."
"Han Yingying, you're drunk," Shen Mosheng patiently reminded her.
"Smack——"
A slap landed on that exceptionally handsome face, and Han Yingying grew even more willful.
"I'm not drunk, I just want Fu Yingjun to know that I, Han Yingying, am in demand. It's his loss if he doesn't want me."
Shen Mosheng's deep and sharp eyes stared steadily at her as he warned in a deep voice, "You'll regret this."
"Shen Mosheng, are you even a man?" As she spoke, Han Yingying's lips quivered and she began to cry.
"Or am I really so terrible that even like this, no one wants me?"
A flicker of panic crossed his eyes, and Shen Mosheng lay down properly, not daring to move, and consoled in a deep voice, "You're very good."
"Then prove it to me."
"Proof is possible, but not by this method..."
"Shen Mosheng, if I can't settle you today, I, Han Yingying, will take your last name!"
...
My head hurts!
Han Yingying slapped her throbbing head, moaning in pain: "Mom, my head hurts, get me some medicine..."
But a serious voice came from above, "Drink some water first."
Han Yingying, still drowsy, drank the warm water handed to her, planning to sleep a bit more.
Just as she closed her eyes, she suddenly realized something was amiss, and her eyes snapped open again to the sight of Shen Mosheng's distinct and chillingly austere face, leaving her bewildered.
"Why are you in my room?"
Without any expression, Shen Mosheng reminded her, "This is a hotel."
As chaotic fragments leaped into her mind, Han Yingying felt her scalp tingle and shakily asked, "Did we last night..."
"Yes," Shen Mosheng nodded, his tone level and undisturbed.
She actually...
That was Shen Mosheng, after all—had she had the audacity of a bear and leopard combined?
Bracing herself, Han Yingying tried to reason, "Well, we are adults now..."
Shen Mosheng watched her leisurely, "So?"
"Forget about last night, let's pretend it never happened."
"Okay."
Huh?
Han Yingying's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Shen Mosheng, unable to believe he'd just agreed so easily.
He was disciplined, rarely smiled, and didn't touch cigarettes or alcohol, much less entertainment.
All year round, if he wasn't working, he was en route to work.
Everyone joked in private that he was like an old cadre; even the most unrestrained people would subconsciously restrain themselves in his presence.
The two families had been friends for generations, and the two grew up together. Ever since they came of age, they had not even shared physical contact nor been alone in the same room.
Now, having done something so outrageous, how could he remain so collected?
Suppressing the curiosity and excitement in her heart, Han Yingying cautiously confirmed, "You, you agreed?"
"Hmm," Shen Mosheng nodded, his expression calm, his tone even, yet matter-of-factly stating, "Tomorrow I'll have someone visit the Han family to propose."
Just as she was easing her worry, Han Yingying had an ominous hunch, "Propose what?"
Looking at her, Shen Mosheng calmly reminded her, "I need to take responsibility."
"Didn't you agree to forget?" Han Yingying felt like crying.
She knew it wouldn't be so easy; after all, it was Shen Mosheng!
"The fact remains."
"It doesn't, it doesn't, only heaven and earth, you and I know about this. As long as we forget, nobody else will know," Han Yingying hurriedly pleaded, dreading that Shen Mosheng might truly propose.
She was only twenty, at the prime of her life, crazy if she would marry, especially to a no-nonsense old cadre.
Every time she faced Shen Mosheng, she felt as if she had an extra father, only a few years older than herself.
"Oh," Shen Mosheng responded indifferently, "I will personally visit to apologize."
Han Yingying asked with trepidation, "Apologize for what?"
What kind of disaster had she brought upon herself to have provoked Shen Mosheng?
His eyelashes lifted slightly as Shen Mosheng looked at her earnestly, his tone steady but inexplicably intimidating.
"You took advantage of me and won't take responsibility?"
"I didn't..."
"Are you lying?" Shen Mosheng looked at her gravely, his dignity unmistakable.
"I'm sorry, I was wrong, I took advantage of you, but I don't want to take responsibility. Please forgive me, forget last night, and we'll act as if nothing happened," Han Yingying was ready to kneel before Shen Mosheng, begging for mercy.
Shen Mosheng pursed his lips and, in the end, sent Han Yingying home without a word.
Han Yingying couldn't figure out his thoughts, unsure whether he had agreed or not, too afraid to ask, living in constant suspense each day.
It wasn't until Shen Mosheng went abroad for business, without having proposed, that she finally felt relieved.
However, she soon discovered that something worse had happened.
She was pregnant!!!
