Wang Xiumei's eyes widened in alarm when she heard this. "She hit you, and that's what she said! And you're still making jokes about it?"
Wang Xiumei glared at Suxin and then lowered her head to check Chen Ziqian's wound. "Where does it hurt? Tell Mom!" A look of worried affection crossed her face.
Suxin stood there, unsure whether to go out to call the doctor or to keep standing there. She didn't know if Chen Ziqian was trying to extricate her from blame or was genuinely joking. She couldn't bring herself to smile; the way he winced in pain earlier scared her and made her heart wrench.
"Mom, I already told you, I was just joking. Stop feeling me up!" Chen Ziqian raised his voice.
"Are you really okay?" Wang Xiumei asked again, still not reassured.
"Really!"
