The sun outside was splendid, and the neighbors watched as a person emerged from the house across the yard. This area was where the city met the countryside, and most residents were migrant workers who had moved here for jobs. They had lived here for five or six years, and the house across the way had been vacant until six months ago when it was rented out. Nonetheless, no one had seen what the tenant looked like, as everyone was usually out early and returned late, too exhausted to pay much attention to who lived across the street. However, during their occasional chats, they discussed the person living in that room, noting that nobody had seen them go outside, and that all their meals were delivered.
