Shang Hexing wrapped his hand around Wen Zhi's, slowly squatted down in front of her, and said, "I'm not unhappy that you came, but you should have called me in advance today. At least let me know when you would arrive so I could arrange for someone to pick you up, instead of having you ride here alone."
"Not alone," she said, "Meng Fan was with me, we came together."
But in Shang Hexing's view, "That's no different from being alone."
Wen Zhi understood, "Are you upset because I came with Meng Fan on horseback, thinking I'm too willful and not taking safety seriously?"
Shang Hexing's expression finally softened a bit, "Not too slow to react."
Now that she knew the reason, Wen Zhi was both amused and at a loss for words. She quickly explained to Shang Hexing, "Meng Fan and I originally came by car, but halfway there, Meng Fan got so carsick that we had no choice but to ride horses."
