Someone shouted for people to make way, but Wen Zhi didn't hear it, and soon after, she was struck by a rolling suitcase.
She staggered forward, and from behind her came a continuous stream of apologies. Wen Zhi shook her head. The person asked a few more times, not reassured, but with no reaction from Wen Zhi, they eventually walked away, leaving her still dazed.
It wasn't until someone called her name:
"Wen Zhi."
Wen Zhi seemed to awaken from a dream, her unfocused eyes finally showing life. She looked in the direction of the voice and saw Gu Rang's face.
In that instant, tears fell from her eyes.
Gu Rang felt a tightness in his chest and quickly closed the distance in two strides to embrace Wen Zhi.
His hug was familiar and warm. Wen Zhi's tears soon soaked the front of his shirt. "Nian Xun said... my dad, my dad is gone, is it true?"
Gu Rang's body stiffened, and the hand cradling the back of Wen Zhi's head paused, uncertain of what to do next.
