Although Ellie had told Chari about his mysterious visitor that turned out to be Elder, he still had no idea what Elder needed to discuss with him.
He obviously wasn't here to just check up on him, the thought of it was absurd and yet Elder has not said a single thing of importance since he came here. All he had been doing was making jokes, at the expense of Raven which was a sight in itself.
Ellie was also playing along with the jovial conversation but Chari could tell that she was on guard, even Raven was as well. After all, they needed no assurance as to how dangerous the man was when they were basically standing in a field of blood.
Her posture was slightly different from the way she normally stood and her eyes glinted with a strange sharpness Chari almost never saw on her face.
