Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Escape and Departure

Alexander's heart beat violently in his chest, like a frightened rabbit, helplessly bumping around in a small space. The screams of the villagers, the roar of horse hooves, and the metal sounds of weapons colliding echoed in his ears, like the prelude of death played by a symphony orchestra, which was terrifying. He clutched the ancient book in his arms and ran in the moonlight, like a prey chased by fate, desperately trying to escape from this land of death.

The soldiers of the Dark Legion had already rushed into the village, and the fire illuminated the night sky, turning the originally quiet village into a purgatory on earth. The houses were engulfed in flames, thick smoke billowed, and the villagers fled everywhere, screaming one after another, like the howling of ghosts and wolves, which was creepy. Alexander did not dare to look back, he knew that every second could be the difference between life and death, and he had to escape from this nightmare battlefield as soon as possible.

Suddenly, a black shadow blocked his way. He suddenly stopped and looked up, only to see a soldier in black armor holding up a long sword, looking at him coldly through the gap in his helmet, like the god of death from hell, chilling.

"Hand over the ancient book, boy," the soldier's voice was like the friction of metal, cold and piercing, with a strong threat, "Maybe I will let you die more quickly."

Alexander took a step back, and fear almost swallowed him. He held the ancient book in his arms tightly, as if it was his last hope, and he must not let it fall into the hands of the enemy. But at this moment, he felt a warmth coming from the ancient book in his arms, as if a force awakened in his body, like a weak electric current, flowing through his limbs, dispelling his fear and igniting his hope.

"No!" Alexander shouted, instinctively reaching out his hand and raising the ancient book above his head, like raising a shield to resist the threat of death.

Something surprising happened. A dazzling blue light burst out from his palm and rushed towards the soldier like a stream of water. The speed of the blue light was incredibly fast, like a flash of lightning, drawing a bright track in the night sky and illuminating the darkness. The soldiers of the Dark Legion were caught off guard and hit by the blue light, as if they were hit by a galloping carriage, falling heavily to the ground with a dull sound, and then they were motionless.

Alexander was stunned, looking at his hands in disbelief. He just... used magic? He never thought that he had the power of magic, but the fact was in front of him and there was no doubt about it. He seemed to be chosen by fate and given special powers, and he was about to shoulder the responsibility of saving the world.

There was no time to think. More soldiers shouted in the distance, getting closer and louder, like a roar from hell, chilling. Alexander took a deep breath, turned and ran towards the forest outside the village, like a hunted prey, desperately trying to escape from this land of death.

He shuttled through the dense woods, branches whipped his face, branches scratched his clothes, but he did not stop, he knew that as long as he stopped, he would be caught up by the soldiers of the Dark Legion and eventually become their dead soul. He must persist, he must survive, he must complete his mission.

The voices of the pursuers behind him gradually faded away, but Alexander did not dare to stop. He didn't know how long he could run, he didn't know how long he could hold on, but he knew that as long as he had a breath, he would continue to run until he escaped from this land of death.

Until the moon set in the west and the fish belly white appeared in the east, he fell exhausted under a big tree, gasping for breath, as if to suck out all the air in his lungs. He leaned against the tree trunk, closed his eyes, let the sweat soak his clothes, let the fatigue devour his body.

While panting, Alexander carefully opened the ancient book. The blue light flashed again, the pages turned automatically, and finally stopped on a strange map. There were several flashing spots marked on the map, one of which was exactly where Alexander was, and in the center of the map, there was a golden crown logo with "The Throne of the God King" written next to it.

Alexander's fingers gently stroked the map, and an inexplicable throbbing surged in his heart. He knew that his destiny was hidden in this map, and the Throne of the God King was his final destination.

Just then, footsteps were heard in the woods. Alexander raised his head alertly, ready to escape again. But a young knight in silver armor walked out from behind the tree. The knight took off his helmet, revealing a resolute face. His eyes fell on the ancient book in Alexander's hand, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

"My name is Adrian," the knight said, his voice low and powerful, with an unquestionable majesty, "I have been looking for the heir of that ancient book. It seems that I have finally found you."

Alexander looked at Adrian in surprise, not knowing how to respond. His adventure had just begun, and fate seemed to have arranged a companion for him, which made him feel both surprised and uneasy.

"Come on," Adrian stretched out his hand, his tone full of sincerity and encouragement, "We have a long way to go." Alexander hesitated for a moment, and finally held Adrian's hand. He knew that from this moment on, his life would change forever, and he would embark on a journey full of challenges and unknowns, and this was just the beginning. The road to the throne of the God King has begun, and they will work hand in hand to face the challenges of the future and write their own legend together.
