Chereads / Apocalypse: My Hotel is Safe Heaven / Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Chilled Watermelon

Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Chilled Watermelon

Jeremy, with a dirty, exhausted appearance, stepped into the hotel lobby. However, the sound of laughter from above instantly caught his attention.

Looking up—there was actually internet on the TV?!

He saw Charlote happily eating a self-heating hotpot, her eyes glued to the TV screen with a beaming smile.

Jeremy took a few steps back and looked at the sign.

It was indeed a vacation hotel.

But after so long in the apocalypse, with no electricity or internet, how could Charlote be watching TV?

With doubts in his mind, he climbed the stairs, glancing back at the variety show on TV from time to time.

Seeing some familiar faces on the show, Jeremy felt as though the store and the outside world were two different realms.

Charlote's place was like heaven, while the outside was a hell full of zombies.

If his parents were still around, they would definitely prefer to stay here...

Buzz buzz buzz.

Jeremy looked down and saw Bear following him with a floor-cleaning machine, diligently cleaning up the dirty marks.

Bear soon caught up with him, its small black eyes fixated on his clothes. Its fluffy arms trembled slightly, as if wanting to clean and disinfect him with the machine.

Jeremy quickly raised his hand to stop Bear, hurriedly climbing the stairs to his room. After a shower and changing into clean clothes, he stuffed his dirty old clothes into the automatic washing machine. With his hair half-dried, he headed downstairs for a meal.

Downstairs, Charlote had already finished eating, her legs resting on the sofa as she sipped on milk tea with a smile.

Jeremy walked past her, and she didn't even notice.

In the dining area, Fawna saw him come in, quickly finishing his meal, reluctantly watching the TV for a bit before heading back to his room before Jeremy was finished.

Jeremy ordered a serving of noodles with bean paste and beef brisket noodles, eating quickly. After wiping his mouth and paying 24 points, he sat down on the sofa next to Charlote and started watching the variety show.

Even though he was very tired today from killing many zombies, sitting down to watch TV after a good meal was relaxing.

Before long, Leo also came over.

Charlote set aside her milk tea and called Bear to bring out the chilled watermelon.

"Guest, do you want the fruit I saved for you this morning?" Charlote turned to Jeremy at the end of the sofa.

Jeremy had actually forgotten about it. "Sure, bring it over."

"Bear, bring the fruit ordered by the 301 guest as well."

Leo, who had left early that day and didn't know that the store was selling fruit, was stunned by their conversation.

Fruit? The kind of fruit he was thinking of?

When Bear brought over a plate full of fruit, his guess was confirmed.

Charlote picked out 5 oranges, 5 bananas, and 5 slices of watermelon, arranging them on an empty plate and pushing it in front of him.

"Can I eat the chilled watermelon?"

"Yes," Jeremy took the plate and immediately reached for a slice of chilled watermelon.

The pink, seedless flesh, the deep green rind, and the sweet fragrance—taking a bite, the juicy, ice-cold taste was like a summer refreshment!

Leo couldn't take his eyes off the fruit, his Adam's apple bobbing uncontrollably.

Charlote wouldn't let her customers stare blankly without buying anything, would she?

Otherwise, why would she have Bear bring out the fruit?

With a smile, Charlote pushed the remaining fruit towards Leo, her attitude friendly. "These are three new fruit options at our shop—fresh, delicious, juicy, and nutritious. If you'd like, you can buy some to try. Each is only 3 points, which is very affordable."

She then handed Leo a slice of chilled watermelon. "Try it first, if you like it, you can buy more."

She also took a slice for herself, taking a gentle bite. It was ice-cold, refreshing, and sweet—a really good melon.

Seeing both of them enjoying the fruit, Leo couldn't bear to put down the watermelon he had. Moreover, he hadn't had fruit in a long time, and it was only 3 points. He thought, why not eat it? It might be gone someday, and keeping the points would be useless!

He might as well work hard to save more crystal nuclei during this period!

Eating the chilled watermelon, sweet oranges, and soft bananas, Leo felt his pent-up frustrations dissolve. Forget about feelings—living comfortably was more important!

During the commercial break, Charlote stood up and took a small plate from the dining room. She prepared two slices of watermelon, one orange, and one banana, and had Bear deliver them to room 201.

Charlote certainly wouldn't forget that there was another customer upstairs.

She directly sent Bear upstairs with a card reader for sales!

Haha, did you think you could avoid spending points by staying upstairs? How naive!

The other two customers on the sofa didn't see it that way. They only saw how Charlote, full of love, was worried that the girl upstairs wouldn't get to eat, and specially sent it up.

In this apocalyptic world, where not only zombies eat people but people can also be consumed in darkness, it was rare to find someone as kind and considerate as Charlote!

Definitely worth relying on!

Though Jeremy might be overthinking it, the value of fruit in the apocalypse was evident. No fool would use precious resources to be considerate to someone who couldn't benefit them. Thus, he also felt that Charlote was kind-hearted.

When Charlote saw it was getting dark outside, she turned on the lights in the lobby. Seeing the two sitting uncomfortably, she took out two cushions and handed them over.

"Thank you, Charlote!" Leo, blushing, quickly accepted with both hands.

It was one thing to watch TV at the boss's place for free, but using the boss's brand-new cushions was another matter entirely.

Jeremy knew where the cushions came from and used them without reservation.

Speaking of which, he had chosen this sofa himself.

When the commercial ended, Charlote heard the familiar opening and quickly took her seat, concentrating on watching TV.

"Dad! Hurry up! It's just ahead! The one with the lights!" Belle, looking disheveled, was supporting her father.

Her father nearly put all his weight on her, making it almost impossible for her to move.

"Where?" Tucker looked up, squinting into the distance.

"There!" Belle pointed.

Tucker looked in that direction.

Indeed, at the end of the street, there was a hotel with its lights on!

He could even see people inside comfortably sitting on sofas and eating!

So it really exists!

Food! Hotel! Here I come!

He shrugged off Belle's hand and strode forward, adjusting his clothes as he walked.

Luckily, he had chosen a suit today and even put on a tie.

Looking at his shiny leather shoes, clean clothes, and spirited expression—Tucker spat in his palm, smoothed his hair, and made an effort to present himself as a distinguished leader.

With such an impressive leadership style, surely the hotel's little owner would eagerly come out to greet him respectfully!

Tucker imagined the hotel's owner in tattered clothes and patched-up attire, hunched over and looking at him in awe and disbelief, treating him as a VIP!

He imagined himself walking with his hands behind his back, head held high, like someone who had seen a lot of the world, pointing out the unreasonable facilities in the store.

Moreover, he would definitely reprimand the owner for wasting crystal nuclei by leaving the electricity on so carelessly. For these displaced guests, the electricity should be turned on only for 10 minutes a day!

No, even 10 minutes was too much—there was no need to provide any at all!

Tucker had already considered the hotel as his own, and he was very displeased with the current owner's approach!

As they approached the hotel, his eyes grew redder. If he wasn't mistaken, they were eating... fruit?!
