Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Could This Be Owned by a Big Shot?

What should you do when you encounter a customer who seems rich?

Of course, you try to get as much money as possible!

Charlotte saw the brief flash of satisfaction in the man's eyes and steadied herself, knowing this deal was in the bag.

She briefly introduced the amenities of the double room, emphasizing the bathroom where one could take a bath.

No one likes to stay dirty. Despite the man being fully covered, in this heat, getting close wasn't exactly pleasant.

Rumor had it that water was scarce outside, barely enough to drink, let alone bathe.

As expected, the man's eyes lit up at the mention of a bath.

He walked into the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and stared at the clear water for a few seconds.

Finally, he looked up at Charlotte and said in a deep voice, "The room is good. I'll take it."

Charlotte smiled warmly, "Please follow me downstairs to top up your points."

Having read the top-up process earlier, Jeremy quickly recharged two level-2 crystal cores and paid for the night's stay.

"Have you eaten yet? I also have lunch boxes. You can order whatever you like from the machine," Charlotte offered, seeing his willingness to spend.

Jeremy, maintaining his composure, ordered two meals. Holding the warm, fragrant boxes, he felt a rare moment of dizziness.

Charlotte handed him the key card to room 201. "I hope you enjoy your stay."

Jeremy gave her a brief, indifferent glance and walked upstairs with unsteady steps.

Charlotte didn't mind his rudeness, delighted with the 83 points she had just earned.

Suddenly, she remembered the system's restriction of only 20 meals per day. She had already sold and eaten 19!

She rushed to the lunch machine, saw only one portion of spicy shredded potatoes left, and sighed.

She decided to save the last meal for herself, just in case the guest upstairs bought it. She took the meal to her room.

If more guests arrived, they would have to buy food from the breakfast machine.

Summer positioned a stool and called Bear to place one surveillance camera in the hall and another on the second floor.

Bear, as tall as her, didn't need the stool. With a grip on the wall, it bent like cheese under its strength.

The entire wall, including the corners, softened and tilted.

Charlotte stepped back in surprise.

Bear inserted the camera into the wall effortlessly, like a chocolate stick into cheese.

The wall returned to normal, with the camera firmly in place.

Bear moved to the second floor.

Charlotte followed, witnessing the remarkable scene.

Bear was truly overqualified as a janitor.

After completing its task, Bear began scanning the cleanliness of the inn.

Relaxing on a deck chair, Charlotte watched Bear mopping the floor and even cleaning the safe area outside the door.

With Bear around, what more could she ask for?

Enjoying the mild sun, she touched her slightly warm arms and legs.

In her previous mission, she lived in a cold, sunless place, feeling depressed and sometimes thinking she had rheumatism.

So in this world, she loved the bright sun. Just looking at it made her happy.

As the sun set, she prepared to close the door but met the eyes of two passersby.

She smiled, "Are you looking for a place to stay? It's safe; no zombies can get in."

The visitors were Lucas and Tate.

After a long, dirty, zombie-filled day, they looked a mess.

"Stay?" Tate eyed the sign suspiciously. Was this a scam?

Lucas was equally cautious, shaking his head silently.

As they were about to leave, Tate noticed the level-5 big shot from earlier drawing the curtains on the second floor.

He tugged Lucas's sleeve excitedly, signaling him to look.

Lucas was equally shocked. Was this the big shot's place?

That explained it. How could a delicate girl run a zombie-proof inn without a powerful backer?

Staying here was safe under a big shot's protection!

Jeremy: ???

Charlotte saw the two return, their eyes filled with excitement and a bit of disdain.

Charlotte: ???

But business was business, and money was money.

She showed them the price list. They also chose a double room.

Lucas recharged with a level-1 crystal core, leaving 50 points.

Charlotte recommended the breakfast machine's food.

Though they looked at her like she was crazy, they bought steamed buns and dumplings for 18 points.

It must be a new way to charge. With such low room rates, there had to be hidden costs.

Regret was pointless now. They had plenty of level-1 crystal cores. They could play along with the big shot.

Who knew a level-5 expert liked to toy with people? Maybe the stronger you were, the weirder your quirks.

They dismissed the breakfast, holding the boxes to go upstairs.

Charlotte gave them directions to room 202.

Seeing the fading light, she thought no more guests would come and prepared to close the door.

"Wait! I want a room too!"

Charlotte peered outside but saw no one. Was it the wind rustling the trees?

She decided it was her imagination and moved to close the door.

"I said wait!"

This time, Charlotte saw a girl emerge from a tree, her body shifting from brown to its natural color. She slipped through the door with agile movements.
