Chapter 12 - Chapter 10: The Hunt.

"How dare I deceive you, his body is right ahead."

Upon hearing this, Tiger Pioneer pushed past the little demons and stepped forward, immediately spotting the body of Wolf Commander.

The head of Wolf Commander had been pressed into the ground, surrounded by evident cracks, showing the immense power of the strike.

"Well, it looks like he was killed instantly with such fierce strength. And I haven't heard of any powerful monsters passing nearby!" Tiger Pioneer muttered to himself.

However, Wolf Commander had been a favorite in front of the Demon King, and now that he had died so mysteriously, it was only natural to notify their lord.

"Wasn't Wolf Commander supposed to be patrolling the mountains before he died? I remember his territory isn't in this location,"

"In response to the Pioneer, Wolf Commander was here to capture the escaping Fox Spirit, which is why we, with our weaker powers, couldn't keep up with his pace," the little demon said with an embarrassed smile.

Tiger Pioneer sensed the underlying meaning: he, too, had seen that beautiful Little Fox and could understand why Old Wolf wouldn't want to let her go. These little demons clearly knew their commander's character and had deliberately not followed, to avoid interrupting his pursuit.

"A monster spending all his time on such things, no wonder he met an unclear, mysterious end," spat Tiger Pioneer.

He had always disapproved of Old Wolf's unusual sexual orientation, cooperating under the Demon King's awe-inspiring reputation only. The territories they were responsible for were also different, which was why he had arrived later.

"Pioneer, what should we do now?" asked the little demons, who had lost their nerve and were now looking eagerly at Tiger Pioneer, hoping he would show them a clear path.

"What to do? Just chill it. Don't just stand there; hurry up and carry his body out. We definitely need to report this matter to the Demon King," said Tiger Pioneer irritably.

Upon hearing this, the little demons found their resolve and hurriedly lifted the thoroughly dead body of Wolf Commander, his fierce and horrifying head now squeezed into a pulp, gory to behold. Fortunately, all these little demons were man-eaters, and the sight of fresh blood, far from scaring them, stirred their ferocity.

Nearly a hundred miles from this place lay the renowned Huangfeng Peak, where the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind's Cave Mansion was located.

At this moment, the fearsome Demon King was inside enjoying his human flesh meal, albeit maintaining some semblance of decorum befitting his experience.

He was particular about how he ate humans; it even looked somewhat refined.

However, there wasn't much joy on the Demon King's face at that moment. Looking at the human meat on his table, he mused with some confusion, "It shouldn't be! I've heard from those bald monks that eating humans should increase my mana. Why hasn't my mana increased at all after eating so much, and this taste is simply too awful."

In his opinion, the flavor of human meat was far less delicious than that of beef or lamb. If not for hearing that humans were the most spiritually advanced among all creatures and that eating their flesh would enhance his mana, he would not have chosen to eat them.

As he pondered, suddenly, there was a commotion at the entrance of the cave mansion. Irritated, the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind was about to curse out loud, but he saw Tiger Pioneer came in with a group of little demons carrying something.

"Tiger Pioneer, what treasures have you dredged up now, and why is it so bloody?"

"Reporting to the Demon King, Wolf Commander is dead," Tiger Pioneer said respectfully.

"Dead?" The eyes of the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind suddenly widened. Wolf Commander had been a close confidant whom he had intended to train further and entrust with great responsibilities. Yet, now he was just a corpse that had been brought in.

"Who killed him?" The words of the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind carried a hint of cold harshness, like the biting wind of deep winter, making the temperature in the cave mansion seem to drop several degrees.

Tiger Pioneer hurriedly recounted everything from beginning to end.

"What a waste! A Fox Demon can't even be captured in half a day, but since he is my subordinate, he can't have died for nothing. I must see which blind fool dared kill my subordinate," the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind said bitterly.

As the saying goes: you must look at the master before beating the dog. The death of Wolf Commander wasn't a pity, but the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind's reputation couldn't afford to be sullied.

Once the monster left the mansion, he immediately employed his divine skills, and a fierce wind erupted within a hundred miles of Huangfeng Peak.

The wind howled through the forest, rustling the trees violently, causing the countless wild animals in the mountains to be startled and flee in all directions.

Meanwhile, the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind stretched out his yellow-furred claws, lightly grabbing in the air, sniffed gently at his fingertips, and said to himself, "This is indeed strange. Why do I only sense the Fox Spirit's scent? With her frail frame, how could she have possibly killed my commander?"

However, he didn't overly concern himself; after all, capturing this Little Fox would reveal the truth.

Riding the fierce winds, the Great Sage of the Yellow Wind flew towards the source of the scent. He saw a sandstorm brewing in the lush forest, gradually covering the woodland with a curtain of earthy yellow.

The Great Sage of the Yellow Wind then concealed himself within this sandstorm, continuously pursuing northward.

Before long, the silhouettes of two frantically fleeing figures appeared before him. The Great Sage of the Yellow Wind immediately recognized the Little Fox, as there were few good-looking little demons living in Huangfeng Peak, and Little Fox was among the few who stood out.
