This Northern Continent of Cattle-grazing is the territory of the Barbarian Race, right? How could there be a master from the Demon Clan, and a Da Luo Golden Immortal at that?
A golden light flashed in Sun Wukong's eyes as he used his innate Pupil Skill. The Puti Patriarch had said that his eyes harbored the Power of the Heavenly Dao, capable of seeing through all illusions and pre-empting the enemy's moves. When fully activated, the golden light could attack or defend, and even attack the Soul's True Spirit of the enemies directly, which was a rare innate divine ability, much stronger than Erlang God's Heavenly Eye. It was given the name "Void-Breaking Divine Eye."
The true form of the man in green appeared in his vision— a gigantic blood-red mosquito. Sun Wukong's heart suddenly "thudded." Among the Demon Clan, it was not uncommon for birds, insects, snakes, and beasts to cultivate into demon immortals; however, throughout history, only one mosquito had ever achieved cultivation—the Blood-winged Black Mosquito, a fierce beast from the Era of the Deification, calling itself the Mosquito Daoist. Could this be the same creature before him?
In the battle during the Divine Enthronement Era, the Mosquito Daoist was captured by Sun Wukong's master, the Puti Patriarch, who was then known as the Zhun Ti Daoist. He placed it inside the Qiankun Gold Purse, and handed it over to the White Lotus Boy for safekeeping. The White Lotus Boy carelessly let the Mosquito Daoist escape, resulting in one of the four direct disciples of Jie Sect, the Turtle Spirit Saintess, being sucked dry.
This creature even flew to the Western Paradise, attacking the Western Cult's spiritual treasure, the Twelve-grade Merit Golden Lotus, and sucked out three grades, thereby degrading it to a Nine-grade Golden Lotus.
After devouring the Twelve-grade Merit Golden Lotus, the Mosquito Daoist vanished without a trace; could it have been hiding in this Northern Continent of Cattle-grazing all along?
A sense of dread rose in Sun Wukong's heart. This Mosquito Daoist was a Chaos fierce beast, the first mosquito to gain Dao in the world, extremely ferocious. If it indeed was him, he feared his current self was far from being his match—the odds of winning this fight were slim!
"You cur, prepare to die!"
As Sun Wukong was using his Pupil Skill to assess the Mosquito Daoist, the Daoist had already launched an attack with a fierce cry, his longsword quivering and suddenly transforming into countless fist-sized blood-colored mosquitoes that swarmed towards Sun Wukong, biting him all over. The needle-like mouthparts struck against Sun Wukong's body, emitting a clinking sound of metal colliding with metal.
Sun Wukong's Eight-Nine Profound Skill was nearly perfected. His physical body was even stronger than a regular Da Luo Golden Immortal. Although it wasn't quite the same as the Undying Golden Body he had forged in a previous life after stealing and consuming a Golden Core, it wasn't far off either. However, under the bites of these blood-colored giant mosquitoes, he still felt a stabbing pain. If this continued, his flesh would eventually be punctured, and he would be drained dry just like the Turtle Spirit Saintess!
"Get the hell away from me!" Surrounded and bitten by a swarm of mosquitoes, even a Buddha would lose his temper, let alone Sun Wukong who was naturally unruly. All sense of fear was washed away by anger. With a violent shout, True Solar Fire surged out from his pores, enfolding him in golden fiery armor. The next moment, the flames exploded violently in all directions with great force, sweeping away all the blood-colored mosquitoes with the wave of fiery shock, turning them into dust.
"Dammit all to the Heavenly Venerate! I'll fight you with everything I've got!"
So what if it was a Chaos fierce beast, or a Da Luo Golden Immortal? If Grandpa Monkey doesn't show his might, do you think I'm on my deathbed? Go to hell, looking for a beating! With a fierce roar, Sun Wukong's figure suddenly grew as vast as a mountain, using the Divine Power Dharma Aspect Heaven and Earth. He grabbed a nearby mountain peak and uprooted it, smashing it violently down at the Mosquito Daoist.
With a thunderous noise, the mountain shattered, and the ground shook violently. An explosive shockwave radiated from the point of impact, spreading outwards. Sun Wukong cast a glance at a few surviving villagers nearby, a burst of golden light from his eyes enveloping them. The violent shockwave struck the golden light, causing ripples to oscillate outward, but the people within the golden light were unharmed.
For reasons unclear even to Sun Wukong, he diverted some of his energy to protect these people—was he influenced by that Monk Tang Seng?
The ground sank several inches; a web of massive cracks extending over thousands of meters, nearly flattening the entire valley with Sun Wukong's all-out strike of Divine Power Dharma Aspect Heaven and Earth.
However, there was no trace of triumph on Sun Wukong's face. Although the previous strike was fierce, the mountain was merely composed of rocks and shattered upon impact, far less destructive than the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod.
A suitable Divine Weapon significantly enhances combat power, he thought. This time, he should make a detour to the Eastern Sea Palace and retrieve the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod first.
"Where did that guy go?"
The dust began to gradually settle, but the dissipating dust revealed no trace of the Mosquito Daoist. Sun Wukong's heart sank. Suddenly, a strong wind came from behind. Just as he thought to dodge, his back was already tightly gripped—a giant Blood-winged Black Mosquito was firmly stuck to his back.
"Damn it, get off me!"
A stabbing pain hit him as the Blood-winged Black Mosquito's mouthpart penetrated the skin and muscles on Sun Wukong's back, stabbing towards his inner core. Shocked and furious, Sun Wukong realized this bastard was trying to suck out his essence blood!
True Solar Fire burst out from within him, blazing towards the Blood-winged Black Mosquito. Sun Wukong had no hopes of burning the mosquito to death but at least hoped to drive it off his body. However, a layer of blood light emerged around the Blood-winged Black Mosquito, stubbornly resisting the burning of the True Solar Fire, while its sharp mouthpart had already reached into Sun Wukong's Dantian Qi Sea.
"You cur! I'll drain you dry—no, make that a dried monkey!"
A vicious voice emerged from the Blood-winged Black Mosquito as the proboscis that penetrated Sun Wukong's body emitted a strong suction force. Sun Wukong felt his essence blood and primordial force starting to destabilize, as if they were being drawn out of his body.
"You bastard! Damn it, you lunatic!"
Sun Wukong was utterly frustrated. Good deeds clearly do not pay off; he seldom played the hero, saving someone for once, only to be hunted down by the insane Mosquito Daoist, without even a chance to explain himself.
The ferocity of a Da Luo Golden Immortal-level fierce beast was unparalleled; even the True Solar Fire could not harm it. The robust physical body Sun Wukong had forged with the Eight-Nine Profound Skill could not withstand the penetration of the Mosquito Daoist's natural proboscis. A sense of despair rose from the depths of Sun Wukong's heart.
Reborn, with talents and encounters surpassing his previous life, and with many more years of memories, Sun Wukong had thought he could erase all humiliations this time and make the name of the Great Sage Equalling Heaven truly revered between heaven and earth. Yet, to his dismay, before he even graduated from Puti Patriarch's tutelage, he was about to fall at the hands of this lunatic Mosquito Daoist!
Feeling aggrieved, Sun Wukong once again experienced that strong sensation of suffocation; he was not willing to accept this fate!
Perhaps sensing Sun Wukong's reluctance, or perhaps because it felt invaded by the proboscis of the Mosquito Daoist, the green stem that had entered Sun Wukong's dantian Qi Sea without any reaction suddenly moved. A wisp of Chaos Qi emanated from the stem and shot towards the nearby proboscis of the Mosquito Daoist.
"Aiyah!"
With a strange cry, the Mosquito Daoist reacted as if struck by lightning, withdrawing the proboscis from Sun Wukong's body at extreme speed and flying backwards for twenty yards. He stared at Sun Wukong with a face full of horror and disbelief. "Chaos Qi, you can actually emit Chaos Qi! Boy, what treasure is inside your body?"
Sun Wukong was also surprised. The green stem had finally shown its power, though it appeared more like a counterattack from having its territory invaded. Still, it had saved him. He had thought he would have to use up a life-saving ability of the Time-Space Life-Death Talisman this time.
Disengaging the Divine Power Dharma Aspect Heaven and Earth, Sun Wukong returned to his original size. The difference in cultivation strength between him and Mosquito Daoist was too great, Divine Power Dharma Aspect Heaven and Earth was not effective against him, and his excessively large body lacked agility, otherwise he would have dodged the Mosquito Daoist's sting earlier.
"Why should I tell you?"
Sun Wukong glared at the Mosquito Daoist with an unfriendly look, "You're nothing but a lunatic! Even though I saved your kin, you chase me down. Do you really think just because you're a fierce beast from the primordial chaos that I would be afraid of you? If I had a suitable weapon in hand, I wouldn't hesitate to tear off every wing on your body!"
"You saved my kin?"
The Mosquito Daoist blinked, transformed back into human form, and looked towards the village. A circle of golden light that Sun Wukong had used earlier to protect the surviving villagers was slowly fading. Seeing this, the Mosquito Daoist's heart suddenly skipped a beat, and he internally cursed his luck. He had been too focused on countering Sun Wukong's attack and looking for a chance to retaliate that he had ignored the surviving villagers. If not for Sun Wukong's protective golden light, those few people who had survived might have been reduced to pulp by the ripple of the attack!
"Awen, it was really this benefactor who saved us. Stop fighting!"
Among the surviving villagers, someone shouted at the Mosquito Daoist. It was the woman whom the villains had attempted to assault earlier. When the Mosquito Daoist heard this, his expression immediately changed and he materialized in front of the woman, "Xiang'er, is it true? Did he really save you?"
"It's true!"
The woman, addressed as Xiang'er, recounted the whole event. The Mosquito Daoist's face was the epitome of embarrassment; all this while he had almost killed the very person who had saved them. Now that the truth was out, the Mosquito Daoist wished he could find a hole to crawl into, utterly humiliated!
"This Daoist friend..."
"Who the hell wants to be friends with you!"
Sun Wukong, full of anger, had almost been sucked dry by this damn mosquito, so he was in no mood to be pleasant. He rolled his eyes intensely at the Mosquito Daoist and turned his head away.
"Yes, yes, yes, my dear brother, I, Luo Wen, was too impulsive. I misunderstood you and I apologize. I hope you, as a magnanimous, kind person, can forgive my petty mistake and not lower yourself to my level!"
Indeed, living numerous years as a primordial fierce beast, the Mosquito Daoist was quick to change his tune, immediately plastering a sincere smile on his face and apologizing profusely to Sun Wukong. He showed none of the pride typical of a Da Luo Golden Immortal, making Sun Wukong suspicious of his motives.
