"What's going on?" The village chief walked up to Li Chen, looking at him with confusion etched on his face. His village was the sort of place where birds didn't even bother to defecate, and it was rare to see a stranger even once a month.
"Have there been any human traffickers coming to your village recently?" Li Chen asked, his eyes firmly fixed on the chief as he spoke.
The chief's body visibly trembled, and just as he was about to vehemently deny it, Li Chen continued, "It's okay, I'm not a cop. I'm just here to find someone."
This made the chief let out a sigh of relief, while Li Chen could now be certain that the chief had seen the trafficker.
"Is the human trafficker's nickname Grey Mouse?" Li Chen asked.
The chief nodded, "He's helped find wives for men in nearby villages."
"I'm looking for him," Li Chen said with a faint smile.
Upon hearing that it was the trafficker Li Chen was looking for, the chief replied, "He's over there."
