—————————— "Please sit down, and pass me those items while you're at it."
Xiao Yi raised his teacup and spoke indifferently.
"Yes, please wait a moment, Young Master Xiao."
After respectfully speaking, Chen Jianguo quickly turned and walked briskly to his desk, opened a drawer, took out a red booklet, walked up to Xiao Yi, and handed it to him, "Young Master Xiao, this is the admission notice from Z University, but it is for the mathematics department."
After handing over the admission notice, Chen Jianguo's face briefly hesitated, full of apology, "Young Master Xiao, I am really sorry. I personally went to speak to the president of Z University. I initially wanted to discuss arranging for you to enter the business administration or corporate management department, but unfortunately, this year they have significantly over-enrolled, and all the good departments are genuinely full, so we could only place you in a pure science department like mathematics. However, you don't need to worry. I've already spoken with the president, and next year you can switch to whichever department you prefer. Also, you don't have to worry about the exams for this department; I've taken care of everything."
Recalling that this was the first time Xiao Yi had entrusted him with a task and it had not been perfectly completed, Chen Jianguo's face turned slightly red, but there was really nothing he could do. If it had been any other less prestigious university, he could have leveraged his connections to secure admission into the best departments no matter what. But Z University is ranked highly in the country, and even for him, it was not right to take unfair advantage. Moreover, he had found out that the strongest departments in business management and several other popular departments at Z University were indeed severely over-enrolled this year, rendering it impossible to secure a spot, and it wasn't because they were being perfunctory with him.
Among the remaining available departments, they were all subjects like physics, chemistry, archeology, geology, and others, about which he had no idea what they entailed. The only option he was slightly familiar with was the mathematics department.
He really did not understand why Xiao Yi suddenly insisted on attending Z University. Given his status, he did not need that diploma. Could he not secure any diploma from any university in the world if he wanted?
However, he also knew that Xiao Yi's affairs were not for him to meddle in or inquire about; he just needed to execute the tasks Xiao Yi assigned to him.
"Oh, no problem, you don't have to worry about school exams or anything like that."
Xiao Yi waved his hand dismissively. Going to Z University was not about learning anything specific, and he did not believe he needed the teachers at Z University to teach him anything—so whatever department he was in didn't matter much. And the idea of needing to fix the exams? That was laughable; could any of the final exam papers actually pose a challenge to him?
He saw the doubt in Chen Jianguo's eyes, but he had no way of answering this doubt. In fact, he himself was puzzled about why he had to go to Z University. When he had returned from Southern Continent, the old man had just left a message telling him to go to Z University. As to why he had to go there, whether it was to complete some new mission, he did not mention a single word. What made it more frustrating was that the old man had disappeared after leaving that message, not giving him any chance to clarify.
"Ah, okay."
Relieved that Xiao Yi had not scolded him, Chen Jianguo seemed to remember something and bowed his head, "By the way, Young Master Xiao, I've also arranged your accommodation. It's at Azure Waterfront, quite close to Z University, no more than a thirty-minute walk, or about a ten-minute drive. Additionally, I've arranged a bed for you at the school in case you need to stay on campus."
"Here are the keys to the Azure Waterfront house."
After stating this, Chen Jianguo quickly turned around, picked up a set of keys from the desk, and passed them to Xiao Yi.
"Hmm."
Xiao Yi nodded, took the keys, glanced at the letters on them, and casually placed them in his pocket. He did not decline Chen Jianguo's arrangement. Looking at Chen Jianguo, he showed a trace of appreciation and surprise. He hadn't expected Chen Jianguo to be so meticulous. He had not thought about the accommodation himself, and this arrangement was undoubtedly the best. He could not stay on campus, not because he thought living there was too arduous, but because there were certain matters he preferred to keep private.
Seeing that Xiao Yi seemed very satisfied with his arrangements, Chen Jianguo once again breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'll leave now. If there's nothing important, try not to disturb me. I've come to G City this time just wanting to spend a few quiet days at the university, without disturbances from anyone."
Xiao Yi waved his hand impatiently, said this, then stood up, turned, and walked towards the office door.
"Young Master Xiao, are you leaving already? How about this, Young Master Xiao, it's mealtime now anyway, so why don't we go eat first and then I can arrange for someone to take you directly to school afterwards?"
Chen Jianguo hadn't expected Xiao Yi to leave so quickly and was briefly stunned, then spoke somewhat anxiously.
"No need, I see you're quite busy too. Just do your work; I can handle my own matters."
Xiao Yi waved his hand nonchalantly.
Chen Jianguo wanted to say something else, but Xiao Yi had already quickly walked out. He hurried after him, wanting to see Xiao Yi off, but by the time he reached the office door, Xiao Yi had already disappeared into the elevator, which was already closed and descending.
Watching the continuously blinking red numbers decreasing on the elevator display, an involuntary wry smile appeared on Chen Jianguo's face.
Young Master Xiao left too hastily, not even giving him a chance to accompany him out.
But thinking about their previous few encounters, he felt somewhat relieved.
"Mr. Chen, who exactly is this Mr. Xiao?"
Liu Yuan, observing Chen Jianguo staring blankly at the elevator, couldn't contain his curiosity any longer and spoke up. He had just hesitated a moment earlier, paused, and by then Chen Jianguo and Xiao Yi had already entered the elevator. Although they hadn't gone up, he certainly didn't dare to press Chen Jianguo's elevator and could only slowly wait for the two to go up before he could wait for the elevator to come down again. Just as he arrived, the elevator doors opened, and right as he saw Xiao Yi nod at him and walk in, all he saw next was Chen Jianguo rushing out and staring at the elevator, a wry smile on his still-dazed face.
"Why do you care so much? Just remember, seeing him is just like seeing me."
Chen Jianguo came back to his senses and spoke indifferently. At this moment, the reverent demeanor he had shown in front of Xiao Yi had disappeared from his face, replaced by an air of authority naturally emanating from a leader.
"Yes, sir!"
Liu Yuan and the others felt a chill in their hearts and hurriedly bowed their heads in response.
Chen Jianguo looked at their expressions, knowing they had taken his words to heart, and didn't say anything more. He turned around and walked back to his office. There was a sudden issue this morning that he needed to continue handling, but after a few steps, he turned his head and said to Liu, "Liu, when you have time later, pay a visit to the apartment at Azure Waterfront and see if Mr. Xiao needs anything."
"Should I go right now?"
Liu Yuan quickly nodded.
"No need, find some time later; go around seven or eight in the evening. Remember, try not to disturb Mr. Xiao when you go. Keep it quiet, low-key. Mr. Xiao doesn't like things to be too conspicuous."
Chen Jianguo waved his hand, pondering for a moment, then said.
"Yes, I understand!"
Liu Yuan responded respectfully.
After giving his instructions, Chen Jianguo then swiftly turned and walked back to his office, picking up the document that had come in that morning. Staring at the words on it, he massaged his forehead, feeling a headache as he contemplated the solution.
